  1. Just started playing a little while ago. One thing i noticed was that like you all said, it is character driven in that you really cant do certain things with certain chars. I rolled up a shaman with the mindset that maybe i could use melee that was aided by magic. When i got to the game, unfortunately i couldnt use most of the melee weapons. too bad, but whatever. I decided Im going to play as the shadowwalker instead. One things for sure, there are definitely some evil characters. I get to the first main woman and she flat out told me, those that fail redbeard die. She even laughed, i thought that was interesting. Most games i play characters and npcs arent that brutal and bold in the tutorial of the game. Im not sure what will happen next.
  2. Ive played avernum series and wasnt the biggest pro. I got into geneforge a bit. Now i ask what is the deal with avadon? Is it like geneforge where you can use persuasion and guile to get through problems or is it mostly just a turnbased-arpg?

  4. Alright im at the ruined school. Things are a bit easier. Those monkey guys still hit hard though. I am searching for a place to give me my first blessing spells. I am looking for either war blessing or speed. Does anyone know the location to get them?
  5. Alright i misjudged this, it is a bit too tough. I might have to reconsider purchasing it. I finished the first 2 basic areas and got to vakiri village. That was easy enough. Brodus blade told me to take out some bandits up north and i get there and they are hitting me for 37 damage a pop. How are you supposed to survive damage that high when your life is 26?? Not even my old school days of bg1 were the creators bold enough to have me getting 1 shot koed in the beginning of the game. How are you supposed to fight these bastards when they hit for so much damage? There is no where to learn any blessing spells (which would help a lot), I cant figure out how to get the berries from the bushes or what they look like, and the game wont allow me to hostile the bandits unless i am right in front of them(where i will die). I dont know.
  6. Ok. Well i guess if there are some thorns in bushes than ill just look there. Has this problem with restocking been remedied in the 2nd geneforge?
  7. Ive run into a problem. I havent finished the demo of the game and the shopkeepers in takiri dont have a high stock on baton thorns. Dont shopkeepers restock with supplies? I am only on the 5th area and am using a thorn baton. Can someone tell me how to make thorns or w/e to get more supplies. There has to be a restocking of items.
  8. If that is the case then im only going to bump QA up to 5. The only reason that i thought it would be good was because the game faqs faq said it gives you a second turn by you going before your opponent. Kind of like in fallout 1 and 2. Im still going to play with this character but it doesnt seem like missile weapons are at all favored by any class compared to melee and spells/shaping. Shapers would probably be the only ones using missile weapons besides the agents. I would be very surprised to see a guardian wielding them. Are there any other skills or spells that enhance missile weapons at all or is it just blessing spells?
  9. I just started playing the game geneforge 1 and i gotta admit-im liking it. Not an easy game, but not frustratingly difficult. I am currently a lvl 2 agent and will make a missile weapon user. I am using batons and was wondering about what to take favor over-Quick Action or Luck? Luck supposedly gives you more chance to hit, evade and other things plus adding 2 to your armor class per 2 points (as said in the faq). Quick action supposedly gives you a chance to get 2 actions, but the question is is that with just melee or both melee, missile, and spells?
  10. Thanks for the info. Im going to make this agent go with missile weapons like batons in the later geneforges. Ill mix that with spells and tools. Batons are in the 1st game right?
  11. I started playing as an agent in the 1st geneforge. Its pretty fun so far as i am in the tutorial. I am going to go all out with blessings to make my guy a melee powerhouse. Dont know about magic and mental spells though. Just another question, Are there any skills in avernum and geneforge series that give stealth or ability to sneak and get by enemies unnoticed? I would like this agent to have a skill like that as agent in meaning would suggest stealth, guile and finesse.
  12. I tried playing spiderweb's geneforge a while back and couldnt get into it. Im not a big fan of party based games and am more into the lone wanderer type rpgs like oldschool fallout and eschalon series. What game would be a good game to play for those tastes other than Avadon which isnt out yet? Or should i just wait for avadon? I dont know much about these games, but they've been praised quite a bit and seem very my style. Any info would be helpful. Thanks.
  13. K. I still have the feeling this game is going to get very melee, very fast. I might have to change into a shocktrooper if that is the case. I still dont understand why being good at shaping helps. Do your pets get more points each level up or can you make stronger ones?
  14. Ok im in the shapers and now i have a creature. The only thing is i cant cast any mental spells. Are they later in the game. Sorry if this is too many questions.
  15. Shocktrooper eh, ill have to check it out. Since i have the demo, ill try a few out. Ok, I just got past the guards that were standing in the ground with the blue balls but i ran into a problem. I cant seem to get into the facility or place that the shapers are supposedly going to teach me stuff. I cant open the door. Is there a switch i didnt get?
  16. Sorry about the wait. I finally decided on taking your advice and going with the infiltrator. By the way i am playing geneforge 4. I just got past the guards that were standing in the ground with the blue balls but i ran into a problem. I cant seem to get into the facility or place that the shapers are supposedly going to teach me stuff. I cant open the door. Is there a switch i didnt get? Oh yeah and those things that were kind of like mines, can i plant them in the ground as traps in the full version of the game. If so that would be clutch. Pretty interesting game so far, high hopes for this company and low hopes for why it took me so long to find out about it all. By the way, is there a class that is decent at fighting and good or decent at shaping. That would be an interesting class to play for a future game.
  17. When will pc be able to try this on beta?
  18. Hi, i just downloaded this game and went to the faq you guys have and am completely confused. You got almost a book listed on how much to do to make a good class. I just want to make a finesse rogue class that dodges all the hits in melee and gives it back and also blesses himself and disarms traps. Is that possible? By the way, can someone please explain shaping and all that to me, it doenst make much sense.
