  1. Ive got a question. Does the difficulty change much after the Moritz-kri mage fight? The game went from almost effortless to pretty challenging. Im currently at the moritzkri mage fight and decided to experience farm a bit with the sidequests so i can get a bit of an edge when i try fighting him again. Im hoping that im getting closer to the end of the game. It seems like so far, all spiderweb games ive played are fairly difficult games.
  2. Wait a second, You can solo with a shadowwalker or blademaster? On normal or on tricky? If that is true what are the advantages. If you get more exp then i will ditch everyone right now
  3. Its mostly just me. When it comes to making characters, i can make the stealth and fighting classes great, but when it comes to wizards and such, no go. Been that way since baldurs gate.
  4. I find that the biggest problem would be 2 things. 1-As was mentioned before, the specializations only help the middle column a good deal, whereas the left and right dont gain as much. 2-I find that the mage characters (at least in my opinion) weren't as useful as the shadowwalker and warrior. I only had sevelin, natalie and me (sw) and keeping natalie alive was tough, whereas me and sevelin rarely die. I find this like that because a lot of the enemies were immune to fire, thus making her attack useless. I cant say that both the wizard type classes were like that though as i never used the shaman. They just seemed a little underpowered.
  5. Thanks for the quick reply! Jeff really does think of new and exotic ways of making you think.
  6. Does anyone know how to beat the twinbone zombies, they keep regenerating and ive thought of everything. I tried lowerings ones health and then the other, whenever i start getting them low, they gain all their health back. Edit-sorry for posting here, didnt want to make new thread.
  7. I am guessing that windows will have the same release as mac-Christmas?
  8. Luckily, after 2 tries, i managed to understand everyone's advice. I focused all my efforts on the soldiers and it worked. It seems like some of the fights in these games, (probably avadon and avernum) are actually intimidating as you are only 3 (or 4) characters against who knows how many monsters and enemies. The intimidation can kill you.
  9. I like avadon, and it is challenging to the point where i feel challenged, but..from a roleplaying standpoint, if everyone saying that specializations are pointless choices as middle is the only way (other than the occasional left)-This should be a major area for jeff to improve in avadon 2. Other than that, the game is almost flawless.\ Edit-It seems that the reason that the middle is so good a choice is because your getting an actual bonus to your char, whereas left and right (mostly) you just are saving points to get to a certain level. What jeff could do would be to add minor passives to each level that you get the lefts and rights. It could be towards the skills ability to work on an enemy. For example-for skills such as powering up a character through regenerating, etc.-you could increase the effectiveness of the skill maybe an extra round per 2 points. Whereas other skills such as shadowstep, war cry, etc.-you could give penalties to the ability of your opponents saving throws.
  10. Well, now i am screwed. I just spent an hour and a half fighting the battle against a dragon only to lose because the game didnt allow me to win. I beat the first guy, then the second, and finally after 1 and a half hours, i cant beat the 3rd. That bastard dragon keeps healing him.
  11. Ok, i am at a bit of a crossroad. Ive tried for an hour to try and get past the berazu dungeon but i am at a tough spot and feel like there is something i am doing wrong. There is a demon that is just standing on a circle watching me as i fight wave after wave of demons. The waves never end. There are 2 wheels and whenever i press one, nothing happens. Is there something i am not doing right. I dont know where to go or what to do.
  12. Ive read this topic and couldnt find where it goes over skills such as utility skills for the sw. I only want to know if i take the utility specialization once, if it will help my shadowstep and haste abilities, or if it just does nothing. As it stands utility skills seem like a waste with regards to specialization. Seems much more beneficial to take middle and left columns. I might be wrong though.
  13. I was seriously just waiting for the difficulty to rise and now it did. I am seriously loving it. I havent played a game like this as mostly games follow the format of-Hard from the beginning to the end-geneforge. Or easy from beginning to end, with minor problems. Usually there is a medium of games where the difficulty is average throughout the game, but avadon would be easy till this point, now partially challenging. Kinda cool for a change if you ask me.
  14. Well, at least its diverse. If it wasnt then it wouldnt be avernum. Or would it? I find that (so far), avadon is a hack and slash with choices and baldurs gate 2 npc style thrown in, along with a very awesome skill and stat system. I really find the skill system with class differences to make the game unique. While I found geneforge 1 (although the only one ive beaten) to have the coolest story and so far the hardest game altogether. But im still in the middle of avadon, so there's more to say about it once i have finished it. Either way, you got me sold for avadon 2.
  15. Im not going to lie, i cant get into the earlier games because of this feature. The graphics are fine, but when i dont know which way they will go its very aggravating. Luckily avernum is getting rewritten. Hopefully nethergate will get re-resurrected.
  16. Really? Thats kind of annoying. Is there any way to go around that? I only want to focus on the good skills, what would be the point in a blademaster say putting more than 1 point in bow training, when he wouldnt normally even use them.
  17. I am hunting a beast in the forest and i am little perplexed as to how i increase skills that i already have at 1 skill point. I am a shadowwalker and i want to increase some of the middle skills on all sides, however it states that i need to unlock the skills around them. This goes for all characters. My question is do i need to unlock all skills before i can place more than 1 point in other skills. As it stands now, the only skills i can place alot of points in are blade training, backstab, and heal, the first three skills.
  18. There are some skills like shadowstep for shadowwalkers. What determines the chance of them hitting an opponent and succeeding, is it the enemies intelligence that determines their chance to not be affected?
  19. Cool! I might want to try nethergate-resurrection. Though its not avernum, it sounds very interesting as it has a historical flair. I know you prefer the old way the games were, i only have a problem with finding where each npc is going when i move. It can get extremely frustrating when you dont have an idea where the npcs are going.
  20. Thanks for info. If you dont mind, i have a few questions about the whole jist of things. Ive noticed that Jeff has made 2 games set aside from his series-Nethergate Resurrection, and Blades of Avernum. I want to know directly what the corellation is between these games and avernum. Ive actually downloaded nethergate, so i have the idea that its avernum with history lesson. 1-However, will games like blades of avernum ever be updated graphic wise like the avernum series? 2-Right now i am trying to stay away from avernum series as it is getting remade. I might try nethergate though, when i get done with geneforge 2. You guys have so many games, I dont think i will be able to keep up with jeff in how long it takes to beat them all, he might win the race. 3-My final question is that how does jeff usually set out on making games. It seems as though the geneforge series and avernum series were made similarly together in between years. If that is the case will it ever be possible that jeff might be making say avadon 2, avernum rewrite 2, 3, new game, avadon 3, etc. I hope that jeff wont just be sold for all avadon games for a long time. I highly doubt it though. Either way what do i care, i bought avadon. Ill play that when i get bored of the others
  21. I am currently playing geneforge 2 and i am wondering how many areas is it set to give you per demo. Or are they all different per game. I just want to know as i dont have the money to pay for it yet, but i will in future weeks.
  22. Thanks triumph! I was also wondering as a thought just occured to me about maybe using batons as a ranged fighter. I remember that it said in previous games, that agents shouldnt use batons as magic is their actual baton and ranged weapon. It also states that the only characters that should use batons are shapers (primarily) and guardians too. I would like to make a guardian no matter what, but would it be possible if i instead focused on missiles, dexterity, endurance (few points), leadership, mechanics, and a few spare points in shaping. Big one here-does parry work with ranged weapons, or just melee? I hope that it is just melee as that would be overpowered.
  23. So if that is the case, then how am i going to get parry up to 18, along with the other skills? If i am a guardian i should just focus on melee mostly, then shaping, then leadership and maybe a bit of mechanics. I might as well forget about magic.
  24. Thanks for the info. Oh, and do your skill points per level go up past 6, because i noticed that your skills go up more in this game.
  25. Alright i managed to get the game going and i am thinking of making a guardian this time, instead of an agent in geneforge 1. Now things are a bit confusing, the agent was said to be the hard character to play in the 1st game, now the guardian is the hard character to play. I dont want to sound weird, but how could that be? I thought the guardian was the physical powerhouse of the previous game. The other question is since i am going to play the guardian, what would be a set number of skills someone can recommend to stick with. I DONT want to have what happened last time, where i stupidly put half my points in luck Any other pointers for the game would be cool.
