  1. Actually, that's a good idea. A curse basically has no effect on an item that you can't equip anyway, and it seems to prevent the item from being identified more reliably than anything else I know of.
  2. Conflagration costs less SP and works just as well, if you don't mind getting a little burned.
  3. That wouldn't pick up items the party might have brought in from other scenarios, and anyway it'd almost certainly exceed the script length limit.
  4. You're going to have to give us more information than that. What happens when you test your scenario in BoA and try to talk to someone? Do you get any errors? What do the dialogue scripts you've written look like?
  5. The difficulty of identifying an item seems to be based on its value, or possibly some kind of value-to-weight ratio. Make it more valuable and it'll be harder to identify. You could also try making it lighter and see if that helps; I have a strong suspicion it at least has some effect. You can't make an item unidentifiable, though.
  6. It's meant to go in the town the trapdoor is in. Did you get any errors when you tried stepping into the rectangle with the script on it? That might help us track down your problem. By the way, you, uh, did separate all those lines by line breaks in the actual script, I hope?
  7. This is a freaking message board, not a chatroom. It can take a few hours to get a response. Anyway, to answer your question, delete your preferences. If this means your game becomes unregistered, tough luck.
  8. See the purple rugs at the west end of the room? Push the crates and barrels around so that the barrel is on the southernmost rug and the crates are on the other two. If the portal doesn't take you somewhere interesting when you step in it after arranging them like that, you probably put them in reverse order by mistake; go back and try again.
  9. The "windows" on the unlit ones should probably be quite a bit darker; they look like solid stone at the moment. Apart from that, you've done some fine work with this.
  10. I am a fool and cannot read a forum header. Disregard this post.
  11. No, not an NPC portrait in talking dialogue, an arbitrary image to go with a message box. And not like in a splash screen, either -- instead of being big and central, it'd be small and up in one corner.
  12. Hmm. If you really are Aceron, your writing style's changed a little. On the other hand, if you're not, you're someone who knows a fair bit about Aceron's boards. On balance, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. You'll have to forgive our skepticism; pretending to be you is the new fad now that pretending to be Jeff Vogel is out of style. Well, I for one hold no hard feelings toward you. Nice to see you back here. Oh, and I'm Thuryl/LRTDeM.
  13. You can transfer your scenario over from your Mac to your PC and edit it without any problems. All you have to change is the custom graphics.
  14. Unless the docs are in error, the Jump To special is only called if the player chooses not to climb the stairs. I've actually been trying to get the stairway bug to "work" myself and can't. I think he might be on to something about it only working between towns of the same size.
  15. Well, Bandits 2 has some, uh, impressive weapons of all 3 types. Bows? Hmm. Falling Stars has Heartseeker, but in general bows just aren't very good. Robes? Cat Cloaks in Doom Moon are pretty good.
  16. The special node you want to call is supposed to be at the same location in the new town as the stairway itself was in the old town, not on the spot the stairway takes them to. (Obviously, if you don't want the special to be called at any other time, wall that space off or make it a one-shot.)
  17. How'd I forget Brett and *i? I've been around since early 1998, so I'm newer than them by at least a few months.
  18. Yes, let's not forget that there were other boards before the official SW ones. I may not look it, but I predate pretty much every active community member except Alec.
  19. My first post was on Misc somewhere, probably in one of the political topics.
  20. I have nothing much to add to this topic except to say that this is officially the best topic title ever.
  21. PNGs are generally good, but file size can be a little unpredictable and some people can't use them. TM has a Mac, so .sit should be fine for compression.
  22. GIF is a good format to send graphics in. JPG is a bad idea as it tends to ruin fine detail.
  23. You know, if you graph one of them so it's a smooth curve, of course the other one's going to look jaggy by comparison. You're presupposing that CSR always gets it right.
  24. I suppose you could make a whole new shop each time you want the items to change, and then have the shop go out of business altogether once you get bored of making new shops.
