  1. Doesn't look like Britain.
  2. Yeah, he decided there were too many headaches with even just letting people charge for scenarios. Actually getting involved in situation himself would be a million times worse.
  3. It shouldn't bog things down much, if there's some mild cleverness in caching instead of recalculating all the time.
  4. You're already thinking about christmas 2014? I know it gets commercialised earlier each year but that is getting ridiculous.
  5. I came across demos of Exile and Realmz on a demo CD attached to some computer magazine, and bought Realmz. Later I saw the error of my ways, and bought Blades of Exile (the first spiderweb game I played more than the demo of)
  6. Nobody came to my house. I'm going to cry myself to sleep with a bag of sweets ;_;
  7. I'm also not reading The Republic of Thieves, but that's just because I'm too busy not reading Absolution Gap, but that's just because I'm too busy reading the internet.
  8. An odd thing I came across once was a multiplayer CYOA book. The idea was that someone else would read a complementary book at the same time, and things they did would affect you, and vice versa. I didn't have the other book, or someone else to read it, so for all I know it was terrible, but I liked the idea.
  9. A couple more points for munchkining a singleton: 1) Frrrrrr starts with more skill points than anyone else, so don't make a new character, use him and modify him as you wish. 2) Mage/Priest skill is great to get at character creation, because each level comes with 3SP if you buy it then (and it's also expensive gold-wise to train it later). IIRC my normal starting singleton was 5 each mage/priest and everything else in strength.
  10. BoA too essentially reused whatever engine he had lying around for the earlier Avernums. It was still a huge amount of work, and as noted nearly got him bankrupt. There's no way he'd do that again, especially for something unpopular and story-based like Nethergate.
  11. If he's selling it for actual money, it needs to meet some standard of quality, and hoping people on an internet forum fix it up for him isn't good enough. If he's giving it away for free, getting a release sorted out would be somewhere in the priority list below "anything someone might pay him for"
  12. Do you happen to know whether Avernumscript is completely case-insensitive, or is it just the states that can be lowercase? (I don't have BoA installed here) -a should work (except see below). You'd use it like: alint -a * without the -a, it'll only check .txt files, with the -a it should check all files. There's currently a bug where horrible errors in one file can screw up the next one, though. So I'll fix that soonish. -- is if you want to feed in the script directly rather than going through a file. If you do alint --, then it'll expect you to type in a script for it to check. This doesn't work very well from a command window though - it's intended to help other programs use alint.
  13. Argghh, I hate Windows programming. So much nonsense. Try http://khoth.ath.cx:81/alint-xpv3.zip
  14. If someone with windows XP and visual studio wants to try compiling, you might want http://khoth.ath.cx:81/alint-generatedfiles.zip which has the files created by flex and bison, so you don't need to bother with installing/running those. Dump them in the same folder as main.c.
  15. Okay, one last try before I give up. http://khoth.ath.cx:81/alint-xp-again.zip If that doesn't work, I'm going to give up and hope someone who actually has XP can try.
  16. I'm on Windows 7 and I think I accidentally built it to only run on that. Try this: http://khoth.ath.cx:81/alint-xp.zip
  17. Since there's evidence that someone still cares, I thought I might fix some of the bugs. fl_shimmers, te_cutaway_second_icon, print_big_str_num and SANCTIFICATION_STATE should now work, and it accepts states up to 255. I don't have a Mac any more, so here's a Windows executable and some source code. Windows executable: http://khoth.ath.cx:81/alint.zip (Works On My Machine, it's possible you need to install something from Microsoft to make it work, I'm not entirely sure) Source: http://khoth.ath.cx:81/alint-0.9.2-source.zip
  18. I was disappointed. It started off okay, but halfway through
  19. I'll go with the Magus Fin from The Scar, for honesty in naming.
  20. Moffat seems to be far better when he's writing individual episodes than when he's plotting a whole series. Still, for all the build-up they had in the finale, at least it wasn't Journey's End.
  21. The latest episode was even actually good. That's been a bit too rare lately.
  22. Well, it's going to be eaten and there's nothing it can do to survive. Of course it's sad.
  23. He seems to be a total Mary Sue to me: Tragic past - check. Incredibly skilled at a range of things - check. People who dislike him are just assholes who hate how awesome he is - check. Met a sex goddess who was totally amazed at how great he was at sex - check. Edit for crosspost: And yeah, I want more action from the Chandrians. There's these great antagonists, who are more or less ignored in favour of repeating the "oh no I need more money" plot. Hopefully that'll be fixed in the third book.
