  1. Yeah, that's definitely an issue. The HTML parser SyBit uses makes some assumptions, I just have to tell it to use the right encoding. Of course, it came to me malformed. Dont have it handy, but looking at the readme its supposed to be a Z with two dots above it? (Sorry, mobile ). Can a Nordic/Finnish person confirm? EDIT: "Otto HalmŽn", and that readme is rife with encoding errors.

    Government

My (somewhat brief and continuing) experience with the general public has shown me that the average person is a selfish, blithering idiot. Maybe that's just me being cynical, but I would rather not have control by the majority if the majority is an idiot. The solution is to clearly educate the majority. Too bad the majority doesn't want to pay to be educated :| I'm a fan of technocracy. The people most qualified to be calling the shots should be calling the shots. I wonder how many polotitians today know how to do anything other than politics. The sad thing is most lawmakers don't understand the topics they are making laws about. The big problem is determining who is qualified. And the usual government corruption and such, but that's not unique to one form of government.

    Factory Reset

You can pick up a refurbed 250 GB disk for $30 online. I'd say grab one of those, and a cradle/adapter/whatever it takes to attach it to your laptop. Toss your steamapps, etc on that disk and wipe away. The cool part is afterwards you've got an extra chunk of storage for non-critical things. I'm sure this is the case, but make sure you pick up OEM disks, not any of that recovery crap that comes with your laptop. Just be sure you have the google-fu to grab proper versions of any drivers that don't come with OEM windows (hard to say, but probably video, network, and usb3).
  4. Great news! Blades of Exile now fully compiles 64-bit Windows binaries for every component. You can get them here (hit the blue dots under x86_64 and then look under Artifacts).
  5. you might just have to use a loopback/"stereo mix" audio device to re-record them, then. It's not ideal, but problably the only solution if you can't get the original sounds
  6. Yeah, the conditional to set windcard expansion done by the program was not working, so in that test build I just got rid of it entirely so all (GCC/mingw) builds will have it built-in. CM, I'll issue a new pull from sylae/alint to get that into the master repo
  7. Okay, this is weird. Can you try this version and see if it works? Please make sure (using alint -V) that you are using build 5ecffa0. Thanks.
  8. You can use a program like ResHacker to extract them. Here's a zip of ResHacker off my machine if you don't already have a copy of it or something similar. Here's a horrible HOWTO I threw together. I actually forgot ResHack could swap out resources, you might want to try that first and see how it goes, before running around with a compiler:
  9. they're located here in the tree. The quickest way to download them if you don't have git on your system is to just grab them from a source zip.
  10. this pull will fix wildcards on the mingw builds; the last attempt was using the wrong setting (and the wrong flag--causing it to only be applied to x64). T4ested it this time
  11. I'll take a look at the mingw builds and see what's going on. Build 7 was supposed to have a fix but I guess the fix sucked. For now, I'd recommend using bash or powershell instead of cmd, as they do expansions properly (read: do expansions).
  12. Both programs could also be bypassing the abstraction layers remappers use and accessing the hardware directly. This is pretty common in emulators iirc, although it's a tad weird for Jeffers to be doing that as well. Unfortunately, without knowing how Jeff is accessing the keyboard inputs, we're kind of in the dark here.
  13. I'm not sure if it is, but for stylistic reasons you definitely should use proper whitespace in your scripts. This is not the program's fault. This is a fault with cmd.exe (Windows shell). I just popped it open in bash and it worked like a charm (Win7 x64). http://cdn.calref.net/sylae/images/misc/69efcd26c31ec52d7b5f389d63e881ba.png
  14. Alint is now covered by CalRef's Jenkins server at http://te.calref.net:8080/job/alint/ with builds successful for 32- and 64-bit windows! CM: If you add a webhook for the "Jenkins (GitHub plugin)" to your repo, with the url pointing to http://te.calref.net:8080/github-webhook/ it should automatically build on every push.
  15. while it's happening, unplug your keyboard. if it stops, it's something in the keyboard messing with it. Othwrwise, it could be a whole host of things Wait, you're on a laptop aren't you? That might make unplugging a bit more complicated... :|
  16. Throw in an imagemagick binary and a batch script. Hell, I doubt you'd need it, but gimp's script-fu is powerful as hell
  17. why dont you just crop the border out
  18. Out of curiosity, see what happens if you use the on-screen keyboard feature in Win7. I seriously doubt it'll make a difference, but it'd help narrow any culprits. You don't happen to have any joysticks or gamepads connected, do you? Historically some of these HIDs can cause drama (although I haven't heard of such with a SW game).

    Your type of games

Yeah, I opted not to answer as these questions were much too narrow in scope.
  20. If I get a chance I'll add this to my Jenkins server for handy auto-building.
  21. (Topic merged with existing alint topic)
  22. is there any evidence to show he has ever done this with scenario specials or scripts in any way. Please touch where this is happening. Unless you can touch, you are speculating and it would be appreciated if you don't try to pass off speculation as fact. I mean, its certainly possible he has, but I doubt it given that no other game hides the specials like this (that I am aware). Of course, its also possible he's using advanced RSA encryption on everything.

This causes +4 bonus electrical damage (+2AP versus metallic clothing or armour) A revolver, a long-lost artifact from ancient times. Giken Nomang has been faithfully restored and modified by the mechanic Bekora Tiquo of Eressos. All components of the six-shot weapon have been reblued and the grip has been replaced by wood carved from a branch of a Halitarn Noble Tree. Fine copper wires are inlaid elaborately throughout the device, winding around the barrel, throughout the receiver, and into the wood of the grip. Charged with the spirit of electricity, the gun tingles the hand of anyone touching it. This can be uncomfortable for people not experienced with electrical energy or magic in general. To someone not familiar with Giken Nomang, it operates just as a standard revolver. Only in the hands of an expert does it unleash its true power: As the shot is fired, the spirit within the revolver charges the bullet passing through the barrel with electrical force, and the result is spectacular. The copper tendrils covering the weapon flash a brilliant white-blue as the shot is fired. Its target will be struck simultaneously by lead and lightning, with arcing electricity linking the bullet back to the revolver's spirit. This weapon is not known for its subtlety. [/spoileralt] [/spoileralt] [spoileralt=Spells] [spoileralt=Chain Lightning (custom power, based loosely on Bolt)] Rank: Novice Power Points: 3 Range: 12/24/48 (+special) Duration: Instant Trappings: Electrical arc An electric current originates from the caster and passes through a series of enemies. A normal success hits two targets, which must be within 4 units of each other; each raise adds another target, which must be within 4 units of the previous target. All targets take 2d6 damage, and Chain Lightning ignores up to 2 points of Armour. [/spoileralt] [spoileralt=Forcecage (based on Damage Field)] Rank: Seasoned Power Points: 4 Range: Touch Duration: 3 (2 PP/round maintenance after duration expires) Trappings: Electrical field An electric field envelops the target, dealing 2d6 (2d8 with raise) damage (2 AP) to anyone who contacts them in close combat. If the target attacks unarmed, add Str+2d6 (Str+2d8 with raise) damage (2 AP). Target can also touch (+2 Fighting) to do 2d6/2d8 damage (2 AP). Grappled opponents take field damage every attacker's round. If target becomes very wet (as in heavy rain or having a bucket thrown on them) field will short out, disappear, and deal 2d6 (2d8 with raise) damage (2 AP) to target. [/spoileralt] [spoileralt=Summon Elemental (Summon Ally)] Rank: Novice Power Points: 3+ Range: Smarts Duration: 3 (1 PP/round maintenance after duration expires) Trappings: Creates an elemental servant under the control of the caster. [spoileralt=Lightning Spirit (Seasoned-rank lightning elemental)] Attributes: Agility d12, Smarts d4, Spirit d8, Strength d6, Vigor d6 Pace: 8, Parry: 7, Toughness: 5 Skills: Fighting d8, Shooting d6 Special Abilities Elemental: Having no discernible body parts, the lightning spirit normally suffers no additional damage from called shots. It is also immune to fear, intimidation, disease and poison. Assault and Battery: The lightning spirit can batter itself against enemies to shock them. Treat this as a natural weapon inflicting Str+d4 damage with 1 point of armour piercing. Anything that strikes the spirit with an unarmed attack, makes a successful grapple attempt, or otherwise touches it with an unprotected body part also automatically takes damage as if struck by this attack. Capacitance: The lightning spirit is animated by electrical energy. A very powerful shock can short it out, but lesser currents only energise it. It effectively has Improved Arcane Resistance against electrical attacks (+4 Toughness and +4 bonus to opposed rolls). In addition, any electrical damage that fails to inflict at least a Shaken result on the elemental will cause it to recover from Shaken status if it was already Shaken. Chain Lightning: With a successful Shooting roll, the lightning spirit can launch a ranged attack equivalent to the Chain Lightning spell.[/spoileralt] [spoileralt=Lightning Wisp (Novice Rank lightning elemental)] Attributes: Agility d12, Smarts d4, Spirit d8, Strength d4, Vigor d4 Pace: 10, Parry: 6(+2), Toughness: 4 Skills: Fighting d8 Special Abilities Elemental: Having no discernible body parts, the lightning wisp normally suffers no additional damage from called shots. It is also immune to fear, intimidation, disease and poison. Assault and Battery: The lightning wisp can batter itself against enemies to shock them. Treat this as a natural weapon inflicting Str+d4 damage. Anything that strikes the wisp with an unarmed attack, makes a successful grapple attempt, or otherwise touches it with an unprotected body part also automatically takes damage as if struck by this attack. Hover: The lightning wisp levitates several feet above surfaces and is therefore unaffected by most terrain. It can also hover across any gap that it can cover in a single turn's movement. Capacitance: The lightning wisp is animated by electrical energy. Small (Size -2): The lightning wisp is a pulsating orb that grows no more than one foot in diameter. All attacks against it suffer a -2 penalty, giving it an effective Parry of 8 against melee attacks and meaning that missile attacks must roll a 6 or better to hit at short range. [/spoileralt] [/spoileralt] [spoileralt=Charge (Smite, modified with increased range and PP cost)] Rank: Novice Power Points: 3 per target Range: Smarts Duration: 3 (1 PP/round maintenance after duration expires) Trappings: Charges a weapon with electricity Increases the target weapon's damage by +2, or +4 with a raise. May affect up to five targets. [/spoileralt] [/spoileralt] [/spoileralt]
