  1. i don't remember what i did, but i definitely didn't physically write stuff down. i probably just used the journal and didn't bother doing every single side quest.
  2. i've never been a big fan of /b/, but wow isn't really much more entertaining. either way, jeff has something up his sleeve.

If you don't think that a religious discussion is prudent on a game forum please disregard this, but I think that while the Anama are rather extremist in their banning of magic, I find the scientologists somewhat moderate when compared with other real-world faiths/cults. i didn't mean that they had the same type of beliefs, because if anything, they're completely opposite in that regard. i meant that the best known members of the religion come across in the same way. maybe a better comparison is christian crusaders on a much smaller scale. anyone who believes something other than what they believe is seen as evil.
  4. if the anama were real, i think they'd be kind of like scientologists, only with a much older religion.
  5. i've heard that the graphics work perfectly on anything but the worst of computers, but i never cared enough about the game to do any research on that
  6. yeah, i'm pretty sure the graphics from world of warcraft can run on almost any computer. but then again, i was kidding. edit: grammar fix.
  7. ah, okay. i guess i should've just looked around some more. and yeah, i haven't played in a couple years, either. maybe i'll get around to a replay some time.
  8. i'm not actually playing the game right now, but while reading some of the threads in this section about what to do in certain situations made me think of this. i remember having to use the entering combat trick to get past the runes into where you find him and that being a good enough solution for me. is there another way to do it? are you supposed to wait until you get the blessed athame or something?
  9. why not kill the anama just because they're the anama?
  10. Areas for Improvement The main thing I plan to improve is the graphical engine. It is simply too old, and it doesn't do enough to take advantage of improvements in computers over the last decade or so. Our next games will use a new graphics engine that is based on OpenGL. They will still run on older machines, but they will be able to take advantage of the graphical improvements in newer systems. The graphics will still be low-budget, but we can do a lot more. hmmm...
  11. that's definitely one of the drawbacks of the mouse system. i always liked using the keyboard for short distances, too.
  12. well, okay, that seems like a reasonable difference to me.
  13. i would've told him to roll up the damage just because it would make him mad.
  14. i can think of 3 secret doors in avernum 4 just off the top of my head.

  16. i never bothered watching xena. a butterface warrior princess never really interested me too much, even when i was little.
  17. i used to like yong-mi. that changed in avernum 4.
  18. in a3, the dragons were on the surface and athron even had a brood. but i also remember in a3 that there was a gremlin that was supposedly the last of its kind. maybe that just meant the last of its kind on the surface of valorim, though.

  20. even still, you would be more likely to find spellcasters with brittle bones learning the craft in a school than from the studies of monsters with equally big killing devices. then again, now that i think about it, maybe having brittle bones is kind of like being anemic. before modern advances in medicine, you didn't really know that you had it until it was too late anyway.

In A3 its the same, and no one else is particularly enthusiastic about you and your second-tier compromise party either. —Alorael, who notes that all (successful) Avernum parties have characters who manage to do their jobs even with negative traits. The character in aggregate must consider himself or herself good enough. Sure, being inept doesn't help, but when you're pretty good at everything anyway (and that seems to stretch "inept," doesn't it?) then it doesn't matter. i guess that makes sense, but at the same time, if you have brittle bones, you probably won't be putting yourself in harm's way very much
  22. maybe some of the creatures from past games like rakshasi or something?
