  1. Finally! Then we won't have dialogue that consists of "press 1 for Shapers, 2 for Rogues, 3 for Medium"?
  2. Oh, please. I said "Kaleb," "Sajon" and "Sovereign" to half of the NPCs in FS.
  3. I voted for the Master. Again, all it takes to beat San-Racku is to wake up.
  4. "But it looks very stupid." *laughs at Bahss* No, really. There's no real way to do this- whatever "dialogue" you need can be done in a Treason/Tarquin fashion: Have the villain spew something (cutscene, dialog box, it's your choice), and then give the party 2-3 responses via dialog box.
  5. Actually, the custom graphics sheet doesn't have problems- ANY graphics placed in the scenario folder (PCs) or the .cmg file (Macs) are updated within the scenario harmlessly. This superimposition of graphics could have been used in Putidus, for example. (And, all things considered, probably should have been.)
  6. Plah- I know. My real invective is much more vague. Thuryl- I know what a bagel sandwich is, I just didn't get the joke.

  8. Best 1st creature is the Fyora/Cyroa. Damage equal to a Thahd's at range, more HP than an Artilla. At this point in the game, fighting at a distance is incredibly useful. Best 2nd creature is the Clawbug/Plated bug. High armor, speed enough to hunt down any ranged combatant, and enough for a *second attack* in melee. Best 3rd creature is the Drayk/Cyrodrayk. It has a powerful ranged attack, equal to its melee attack. The Glahk's submission touch is nice, but so many enemies towards the end of the game either won't care, will smash the Glahk whenever their reinforcements/they get a move, and then there's ranged combatants. Best 4th creature is the Rothgroth/Gazer. I don't like Drakons beyond their looks. Their attacks are rather weak outside of melee, which is the explicit purpose of fire creations (!), and their stats are measly outside of HP. Eyebeasts are nice, but Rothgroths have more HP, two (!) attacks with quick action, and do enough damage to match Glahks' submissions worth in stun. Gazers are walking Aura of Flames casters. Awesomeness.
  9. There is no "rule". The iso-3d system takes care of itself pretty well in all instances.
  10. Having Made My first town, I open it up in BoA (The Game) and hear endlessly the sound that you hear when you miss an enemy. FapFapFapFapFapFapFapFap How Do I Fix It? Is It Fixable? Turning off BoA has not helped and my right hand is nowhere to be seen.
  11. Quote: Originally written by Levitating Netherlander: Uh, TM? Sovereign can apparently blow people up via remote control, whereas Katothen gets both halves of his ass handed to him by the player at various times. Right, but he wanted you to beat him- see the Hyperion Mage in B2 and E:P. I still insist that blowing up a mere fortune teller is not as badass as having one's own private dimention. (Although technically, Karl and Deacon are more powerful than he is.)
  12. I hate to break it to you, but there actually is an ornk lord in GF1...
  13. I dunno. Grimly gets beaten up pretty easily as a moral until then- it'd just be a matter for San-Racku to keep Grimly trapped, emasculate him by taking away food, etc, and then waiting for thousands of years until Grimly becomes mortal. Of course this is a hypothetical since San-Racku is, in actuality, defeated by nudging the PCs' shoulders very strenuously. I'm going with Grimly since San-Racku can only screw with me while I'm on crack. Sovereign, on the other hand, is not actually described as being really powerful. Illithids and Boemen are comparable in strength (well, Illithids are more powerful, but regardless), Legion wasn't summoned by Sovereign (and Katothen wins by far if you include his friends), and Katothen made his own dimention. Coolness factor or no, Katothen is outright more powerful. Including Echoes NPCs is a bad way to balance any poll of any sort, but you already made the mistake, so... Master vs. Zuwhiel... Eh, Master doesn't actually get beaten up. And as previously commented, Kassand is a lich and Rentar-Ihrno is a manifestation of Jeff's chauvinism and masculine insecurity, which is probably more powerful than us all.
  14. GF3 seems, like the rest, rife with rogues- Jeff offers mildly more convincing dialogue and more choices, but the choices are still opaque. The beginning was the worst failure- it should have been faster. The tutorial should have been a part of the school with Hoge giving a lecture or something.
  15. I think Jeff should have just given that damned weapon +100% damage, since there's no way that a mage should be purchasing dexterity. PS- Ephesos, did you even find Maximilian? Because, you know, it's the most powerful weapon ever outside of UV. Period.
  16. Radiant Shield ain't bad, but it costs a bundle. 10-20 luck should be easily attainable at higher levels, and basically makes your party immune to magic from any source. And the evasion, combined with high defense, could make dodging enemy attacks feasible.
  17. As far as I know... Strength: +1 level of melee damage +40 pounds of maximum load Dexterity: +1 level of ranged damage every 2 ranks +5% to hit +5% evasion Intelligence: +3 spell points +1 Bonus on mage spells +1 Bonus on priest spells +5% resist mental every 2 ranks Endurance: +level hit points (not sure about this one) +5% resist poison Melee Weapons: +1 level of melee damage with melee +5% to hit with melee Pole Weapons: +1 level of melee damage with melee +5% to hit with pole Bows: +1 level of ranged damage with bows +5% to hit with bow Thrown Weapons: +1 level of ranged damage with thrown +5% to hit with thrown Hardiness: -1 to all damage taken +1% resist fire +1% resist cold +1% resist magic +5% resist poison every 2 ranks +5% resist fire every 4 ranks +5% resist cold every 4 ranks +5% resist magic every 4 ranks Defense: -1 encumbrance +5% evasion Assassination: +3% (?) chance to double melee damage Mage Spells: +3 spell points +1 Bonus to mage spells +5% resist magic +5% resist mental every 2 ranks Priest Spells: +3 spell points +1 Bonus to priest spells +5% resist mental every 2 ranks Luck: +5% resist fire +5% resist cold +5% resist magic +5% resist poison +5% resist acid +5% to hit +5% evasion (I'm not sure if there's a lifesaver effect or not.) Quick Strike: +?% +1 AP Parry: ? Blademaster: +5% to hit in melee +1 level damage in melee Anatomy: +1 level damage to humanoids? Gymnastics: +5?% evasion Magery: +1 Bonus to mage spells +1 Bonus to priest spells +5% resist magic +5% resist mental Resistance: +5% resist fire +5% resist cold +5% resist magic +5% resist mental Lethal Blow: +(bizarrely determined)% to triple melee Riposte: +(bizarrely determined)% to riposte Sharpshooter: +1 level damage at range +5% to hit at range Dread Curse: -1 to all statistics
  18. For once, I'm going to disagree with Creator and Thuryl on tactics! Mage and Priest spells are very expensive at high levels, add +1 Bonus to the chosen type of spell, and +3 spell points. Intelligence, which is usually cheaper than Mage or Priest spells, gives you +1 Bonus to both types of spells and +3 spell points (and a mage will never be hurting for magic resistance). Thus when you have more than you need for whichever spells you want, Intelligence becomes more efficient. PS- If Maximilian is doing piss-poor damage, you might want to think about Bladesmaster.
  19. Both. I personally enjoy the concept of an Archer. The key skills are Dexterity, whichever weapon skill your main fighter is not using and Bows. Get Endurance as often as your fighter does, and use your archer as a second line of defense against opponents. Since arrows are in relatively high supply everywhere except for Bahssikava (and at that point you'd have Adlerauge), ammunition for 1 PC out of four becomes inconsequential. Stop spending points in Dexterity when Sharpshooter becomes an option, and only reconsider it when two levels of it is just as expensive as the next-highest level of Sharpshooter or Bows. The biggest advantages of an Archer respectively are being able to cover one's rear in case of ambushes and Adlerauge. Both, IMO, make this guy worth considering.
  20. It primarily depends upon the scenario. Unfortunately, there's an extreme surplus of undead/demon scenarios, so that means that priests at this point are far more valuable. In Canopy, however, they become considerably less so.
  21. Quit Finder, go to ResEdit, hit command+I to get to the info box, go to Memory, and increase both fields to something 5-10x higher. Re-open ResEdit and try again- it should work this time. (ResEdit has LOTS of RAM on my machine)
  22. How do I (or how does anyone) do it? Is there a way to jury-rig PC .bas files or have data that superimposes itself over the default sounds?
  23. Feel free to use my code, just cite me somewhere in the readme/text file.
