  1. Also, Using _ for quotes Does Not Work in the question part of dialogue. It just shows up as _, rather than as ". And as a general rule of thumb, whenever a dialogue response involves action, surround the words in parentheses. For instance, the question would be (Ask her about the tower).
  2. This is an old topic, but apparently (we're doing Yeats' Cuchulain plays in English) Sidhe is pronounced "she." Fomorians is pronounced exactly as it looks- O as in "no".
  3. Another suggestion as well- try not to use Warrior's Grove. It's just a poor idea in general. Learn to make your own towns.
  4. The Hidden City Spear does 16-96 + 1-6/level damage. This means that it is, at higher levels, only ~50 more damage than a regular spear. Making this weapon 1-7/level and lowering the amount of base damage would be much better- try setting the bonus to 7 and the damage per level to 7. The Hidden City Dagger is REALLY weak. If you want, though, you could make this a "defensive" weapon- that is, give it the special ability of high elemental defenses (somewhere around 30-50%) and maybe some percentage not to be hit in melee. If you give it evasion, though, be sure to take away some of its elemental resistances. Hidden City Longsword is also very weak. I would suggest giving it the same stats as the Hidden City Spear I suggested above, just in case the party doesn't use spears. The Hidden City Short Sword, if it is to be significantly weaker than the Longsword, aught to be better in terms of abilities- for instance, give it a high bonus to hit the enemy, +2 AP, and a few levels in Lethal Blow. The Hidden City Greatsword is WAY TOO POWERFUL!!!. If you want to make it the best weapon in BoA (except for maybe the Adlerauge), give it 11 damage per level instead ... That should do it for the weapons. Oh yeah! You should probably scatter them around your scenario, like I did with the Miracle items in Canopy.
  5. At the time of A3, how many years- as a guestimate- would you say that the Empire was present on Valorim? My guess is somewhere in the neighborhood of 50 years.
  6. There's a cogent reason as to why I'm going to a public school. ... Other than a pervasive lack of scholarships.
  7. Well, yeah. But discount rates also result in an unbelievable rate for Joe Schmoe. For instance, we have an inordinately large number of people with middle class incomes who lead upper class lifestyles with the caveat of placing themselves utterly and irredemably in debt. The crazy-high debt on our account books will result in our selling assets within the near future, including golf courses, slaves, and California. And it all started with a simple purchase of a shareware game...
  8. Keeping in mind that 25.5% interest is roughly 24% above what it is here in the US...

  10. Hey Lord Nargil, are you a fan of Fire Emblem, by any chance?
  11. Stareye is an avowed fan of Asimov. I, on the other hand, prefer Nabokov. Canopy II will feature the main character as a murdering, maniacal paedophile.
  12. ...is that some kind of joke? Practically none of my scenarios feature mystery, tests or puzzles. A scant number feature actual adventuring, and most of my combat is totally unbalanced- reasonable within the vacuum of itself, but otherwise game-breaking.
  13. It would be nice- my only question is how slow the game would be. I wouldn't complain if you kept it simple, but could you? I'd use it if you made it.
  14. http://imban.desperance.net/boa/REVAMPED_DATA.txt Kel's orphanage project uses all of the graphics, whereas mine leaves out two rings and a necklace. So Kel can therefore continue his orphanage. This is just, what I feel, is far more organized. The terrains are basically undisturbed from Kel's version. All I did was add a short table and some open doorways (460-464), as well as some slopes to match a previously nonexistant cave floor type (443-446). Floors received a nigh-on total overhaul. I added surface stationary water (73-74), Dying Grass (79-80), Dirt Swamp (85), Ice (88-89), Spiked and Blue Cave Floor (92-95), Red and Blue Floors (110-111), Resplendent (113), all carpet types (115-126), and the V floors from A2 (142-144). In doing so, I also painfully organized everything by category. Items were TOTALLY redone, except for the gems, which were also renamed. I added 6 new weapons types: Axes, Cudgels, Rapiers, Tribal Spears, Scimitars and Edge Swords. Axes and Cudgels are taken from EM. Rapiers are similar to Short Swords, Tribal Spears are particularly bad Pikes, Scimitars are Axes, and Edge Swords are weak two-handed swords. I imported Canopy's Greaves. I also added some GF items, gauging their abilities in BoA as best as could be hoped for. (They're all relatively weak.) Many necklaces and wands gained new graphics. Blessed Plate Mail, Blessed Short Sword, Blessed Pike, Alien Blade and all metal Large Shields received new graphics. Poison Elixir turned sickly green. The Slime Pool is level 1, has certain immunities, and has a dummy script. The King is at an official's level. The Augmented Giant has the correct top half and is recolored. The Slith Avatar remains as Kel left it. The Queen Spider graphic went to the Elder Aranea. ... That's about it. If anything is miscredited in the heading, let me know.

  16. I completely redid floors, organizing everything. And I mean EVERYTHING. There's the originals, then other outdoor floors I made / incorporated / colorshifted (including some sorta-close adaptations), then there's crops, domestic floors (including granite, red stone and "resplendent"), carpets (of all four types for all three color shifts), mosaics, other (walkway, charred) and Vahnatai. (I'll upload my rehaul to Desp whenever Djur gets back to me with the password I've forgotten.) EDIT: And BTW, if you have a copy of EM, 1005 - 1-4 is incredibly easy.

Obviously these terrains, items, whatever, can be modified by designers and there's nothing authoritative about what I'm doing. It's just to make things easier, and if you don't like it, don't use it. I plan to- I'm just trying to offer level-headed suggestions is all. (And just a comment in general- if you have a girlfriend, why are you wasting time here? Go out and get laid- you'll one-up all of us, down to the last.)
  18. You'll want to fix terrain 397. Also, with relation to both V-floors... You use the small-tile V floors with terrains 139 and 140, but don't deign to include the actual base floor. (It's in resource 761, terrain.) So for clarity's sake, DON'T change the editor icon of the resplendent V-floors. Other orphans... (And no, I don't know what to do with 711 - 8/9, but the rest I do, so ask if you can't tell) 709 - 9 711 - 8/9 726 - 5 727 - 2/8 742 - 8 751 - 5/7 758 - 3 (Although admittedly, the bottom half no longer exists...) 788 - 7/8 ---- 1624 (Not sure what it could BE- maybe a confusion ray-shooting construct? Confusion Golem? Archmage Perplexos?) ---- "Crystal Wand" should probably use a different skill than thrown weapons- maybe Mage Spells? Or alternatively, have it be just a regular staff that gives resistance to spells or mage spells bonuses- which would make a LOT more sense. "Bolt of Cloth" has dramatically different floor and inventory icons. You should try to make the grapes look less disgusting- try tinting them green and lightening them. Along with the Drake Egg, you should have a regular Egg- the kind that you actually eat. Why is Steel Shield an item unto itself? Make it the graphic for some of the other, metal shields. (Oh yeah- it's the second most powerful shield in BoA, doing more protection than any other shield actually made out of steel?!) "Stone" (453) should be "Garnet" or "Spinel" Not sure why "Bag of Curing Herbs" has to cure disease- Curb the GF influences and just make it a regular bag or something. The "Lockpick Tool" would be better as the graphic for the Rod of Arcana or something. It looks more like a wand. (Again with the GF influences... ;_; ) "Sword of Slicing" doesn't seem like what that thing does- how about "Parrying Blade" because blades get stuck within the two tines? "Orange Sword" is golden (or just plain gold), not Orange. The jewel inset leads me to think that it'd best represent an ornamental sword (so high value, but low if any damage) And furthermore, how does it look "flaming"? Same as above for "Magic Plate Mail"... It's humorously small on the ground. Rough Plate Mail is WAY broken. The damage it blocks is more than any other armor in the game outside of the HLPM's god items. Shouldn't it block LESS and be WORTH less because of its horrible design? "Orb of Flight" is probably just an Opal like in ZKR. "Magician's Gloves" seem to have lots of plates- more than someone valuing free movement of the hands would need. Again, these gloves would be GREAT if they were ornamental- cuz they're beautiful. Rogue's Cap can be an artifact if you want, but I'd recommend against it- the graphic seems aimed at stylishness that a rogue would use, though. Magician's Cap also seems to be ornamental. The red ones (since Ruby is already used) could be "Beryl" I question your use of the Ruby and Topaz rings, since those graphics are too humorously small to really be used for anything. ---- The slime pool should probably have "dummy" or something as its basic script, since it's immobile. A king would probably be just as good in combat as an official- ie, not level 20. The augmented giant has a top- just the wrong one. ---- More as I look over 'em. I stongly urge you not to jump the gun and make orphans artifacts- this is an aesthetic reworking, not a super-powerful game-breaking one.
  19. The "V floors look green" part doesn't actually work. And why can't you have BOTH v floors? Like, have the small-tile and large-tile ones separate?
  20. I wonder how this will affect the Geneforge series?
  21. This isn't the answer you wanted to hear, but don't bother wasting the valuable ingredients. There's one in the Benerii-Eo labs near Tigh Eye (NW) that you can get for, um, free.
  22. print_big_str_num does not actually print text in color, regardless of what the Editor Tech Support Page states.
  23. If you wish for Revenge, then Sage gives you some assistance in the final fight.
