  1. *I is right, changing dexterity, quick action, hasting/slowing, and a few other items can change the order that the party acts in. I've had it happen between successive combats where I didn't think anything much had changed.
  2. The second trial is north of Formello and east of the Prongtail Mines. The mark on your hand is something else. There are plenty of threads giving info on finding the 3rd trial, but it sounds like you found the door.
  3. I'm not sure which Exile game you are in but it sounds like Exile 2. There shouldn't be any problem with Erika unless you entered someplace she tells you not to and steal something of hers. Usually you just get attacked for your effort by some guardian monsters unless you took an NY item. Erika is touchy.
  4. There are a fixed number of job board quests. Some are added as you finish other quests and claim your reward. You must click on a job board quest before you can get a reward message even if you finished the quest. Torment has a few encounters that are harder to do and require thought. Hrickris, Nodicuas, and Dorikas are the worst ones in the game. Even on torment mode there is a lot of hack and slash.
  5. It appears to be mindset over ability. There are several people that started training and were rejected for their views. Treating serviles as equals or with too much caring is the big one. There is a lot of emphasis in GF3 in the book at Greenwood Academy that it is more important how you use your abilities than to have ability. The mad shaper going out of control and unleashing rogue creations is the Shaping Council's main worry.
  6. i think someone did get inside those rooms and found nothing. It was a test of what levels you needed to have to use unlock doors on impossible doors.
  7. Good combat engine, but the plot needs work, a lot of work. Money limit is a real problem.
  8. The only summon I liked was summon shade. They are immune to cold and charm spells. As a singleton I used them versus Nodicuas to slow him down and keep his demon buddy from attacking me. I tried to use them to block the chitrach near Fort Remote from getting out. You have to keep summoning them since they wander off. Didn't like divine host since you only get one and he kept dying too quicky at the end.
  9. Not all of them are on the upper level and there are more than are needed for the quest.
  10. I always like the riddles and puzzles in Exile. I though the tests in Avernum 2 where the intelligence was replaced with patience was a weak point. Pushing around a crate where it didn't fall off the ledges when it was supposed to was a flaw. The Nethergate dialog method is tedious in going through all the choices to be sure you don't miss some information.
  11. The problem with quickfire is that it obscures your view of objects. In Exile 2 there are a few places where treasure and chests are hidden in quickfire squares.
  12. It's better to delay getting help from the Vahnatai until after going south and dealing with the Darkside Loyalists down at Erika's ruins. I didn't ask for help until after I killed everything between the first place and the haakai guarding the bridge.
  13. The easiest ones to do are in the east part of the Eastern Gallery that you get in Silvar. If you take your time and do it in sections then you can do the slith cult near the Tower of Magi.
  14. Some of the pieces require going through secret passages. Getting the mold isn't necessary to see Erika, it just makes it easier. You can use the orb of Thrani instead of the giant boats.
  15. You can also buy a piercing crystal in the Tower Colony if I remember correctly. There should be enough piercing crystals in the game up to that point to cover what you need. Skipping ahead to do the demon quest isn't that hard if you are careful.
  16. There are some monsters in the early game like nephil archers that it's better to hit first before they kill you. Daze helps when you can't get all of them at once. The penalty to hit for high protection armors is usually not significant. You may get an occasional message that you miss, but it the protection is worth it in damage reduction.

  18. Unless you run a singleton, money is always tight and you can never buy all the training for everyone. That's why I recommend destroying all pylons for their crystals so you have something extra instead of the stealth route west of Fort Remote.
  19. The Honeycomb is where you use all that thread. Not that it's really that hard to wander through. Once you clear a route it's easy to run back through it picking up treasure.
  20. I would have picked: Geneforge 1 - Castaway Geneforge 2 - Training Days Geneforge 3 - School's Out
  21. You don't need to adjust the light level if you pick better colors for the backround versus items. Black and dark colors don't contrast enough with bodies and a few other items. In Geneforge 3 I originally missed an item because the 3D wall blocked my view and I only found it by accident when the mouse cursor lit it up. This happens in A4 near the Tower of the Magi where the Tinker's gloves are on a body in an arachnea lair.
  22. I miss the random encounters, since the only ones that are left are the bats in the beginning and the rats around Formello. Not much experience, but they keep you from walking back with almost no health.
  23. Quote: quote: Originally written by Spidweb: That is a very kind way to put it. About a month into Geneforge 3, I slapped my forehead and went, "Wait! I'm doing this AGAIN!?!?" Whoa. I'm sure Terror's Martyr would love those lines. He'll love them because they aren't a private message so he can put them into his signature to replace the old one. Since serviles can use magic in the earlier Geneforge games you have some agent abilities. I think it will be harder to sneak into Shaper lands as a servile considering how most players act. You know, if it moves blow it away and if it doesn't move attack any way since it's a pylon or turret.
  24. The whole interface is changed with more reliance on the mouse and clicking. While you lost wait, it no longer matters when in a turn you haste your party or slow your opponents. After a while you'll get used to it.
  25. Doomguards are nastier in Avernum than Exile where they can barely hit you. Keep the number of copies low because they will start advancing on the weaker party members. It just takes time and positioning yourself so you have something at your back.
