  1. Two things that you need to do. Area of effects spells to attack more than one target and kill off the original monster. I got through on torment so it can't be that bad.
  2. From Drakefyre's walkthrough link above the topics: To get through the New Factory quickly, go south to the secret passage at (10,17). Go through and make your way to another secret passage at (6,19). Pass through the secret passage at (6,44) and press the button located at (4,44). You will be teleported to the exit.
  3. The Fort Dranlon Swamp Goblin quest involves endless circling the swamp terrain. There is only one at a time and he appears most often to the south of Fort Dranlon along the coast and sometimes to the east. Try to have something else to do since it can take an hour or more of real time to finish this quest.
  4. Take your time walking around Exodus so you can read the claim marker messages. One is west north west of Exodus near Dellinger's mine, a second is west of the slime generating pool southwest of Exodus, and the last is nearer Exodus between those two.
  5. Northern Rapids 3 needs to be removed so that the block to the right can be moved over one column. Soultaker's Pit is above the Barren Honeycomb 1.
  6. Sounds like you have a corrupted save game file. Once you've seen General Redmark, the gate to the upper tier stays open even though he only appears there one more time. If you are also missing the satchel of crystals from the special item list, then you probably need to go back to an earlier saved game. The papers of transit are another special item that you need to show in various towns to avoid a fight.
  7. Murders north of New Formello is about day 50. Orb of Thranli quest is supposed to be about day 110, but you can get it after doing the Alien Slime and Roaches quests. Tower of Magi quest is about day 180. This is the only one to really worry about since you have enough time to do the others. It's possible to finish before this happens.
  8. In the area northeast of Harston Docks at the north end of the water is a route down into an area with bats and thorny bushes. The route west leads to a gate and 2 guardian hellhounds under Galena (she crafts fine leather). Instead go south on the lower level until you find a route up to the Venomous Mongobat. This is a hard fight because it likes to terrorize.
  9. There are two wheels in the south west so that you can't get trapped in that area if you decide to wait. You need to use the north wheel of the two and run across the dry channel quickly.
  10. Blackchasm Outpost and Outside of Outpost should be one column west to switch with South Harston. Inner Blackchasm should be above Pit of Abominations.
  11. Take your time walking around Exodus so you can read the claim marker messages. One is west north west of Exodus near Dellinger's mine, a second is west of the slime generating pool southwest of Exodus, and the last is nearer Exodus between those two.
  12. Did you check special items? There may be a dialog piece missing telling you that you got the chip.
  13. Any chance that you will release BoR as a Mac only version as incentive for the rest to convert? Except for a few minor glitches it worked fine. The unidentified items could be identified using the character editor.
  14. There is a suit of mithral chain mail and I can't remember the rest except it's not much later in the game when I had the same and all it's good for is money.
  15. Previous topic on Sgt. Cienna. While your talking to General Redmark. Cienna stumbles her way in a druken stupor to her new post. Just use the pylon to join her and you can get credit for the Bargha Gates quest. Don't forget to go back to General Redmark to tell him that you learned how to use the pylon. If you bug him for supplies, he'll give you his rusted old shield.
  16. Search near the nest since you may have kill the thahd already and not stopped to pick up the stone. There's nothing much beyond the gate. Just a bunch of hostile Shaper shades and their loot. Jeff made it so there is one less nutrient than servant minds in need of them.
  17. Quote: Originally written by The square route of nothing: Blades of Rogue? This is an unreleased Blades of Avernum scenario where a single character moves through randomly generated dungeon levels in search of the Amulet of Yendor as in Rogue-like games. This version doesn't have all the features that you see in other Rogue games like magic shops where you can sell and buy goods. Maybe in the later versions. I can't see why it's having problems in Windows.
  18. Jeff never wanted those items taken away. They are way more powerful than most of the items you can get later in the game. No other item has more than 30% fatigue removal, but the Nephil Warblade is 100% plus the strength bonus. Same with the ceremonial leggings that give strength and resistance bonuses. Good trick on how to get them out.
  19. It appears that the unsettled lands in the areas near Fort Emergence are controlled by the Empire, but inhabited by Avernites. The Empire never gives up control of anything they get. Empire traders come down to the caves for the same reasons all other businessmen do, cut out the middlemen to increase profits. Avernum 5 goes into it more, but basically there are certain items that are available in the caves that can be sold for a major profit in the Empire. By going directly to the source they can better control the supply and prevent rivals from being able to cut into their trade.
  20. It's probably easier to use an older save. Killing people outdoors causes negative reprecussions and you miss most of the quests. There might be a cheat code, but I couldn't find a reference using search or the hint book.
  21. Avernum 5 does give you two sides for a change. Support the old evil Empire (Darkside Loyalists) or the new more enlighten evil Empire (Empress Prazac). Either way you get to kick around worms in "self defense." Avernum 6 - your a peasant conscipted into the war, now pick a side.
  22. I suggested smaller sections of the main map.
  23. You can store the games in separate folders. If you have saved games, then the new version will use the existing saved games instead of creating a blank set of files.
  24. The bonemaster along the Dark River is interesting. Don't waste attacks on him. Kill the dancing bones until they are all gone and he then attacks you. You can damage him then, but he does a lot of damage.
  25. The porticullis are supposed to remain down so you can't repeat the test.
