The Cotra shade is part of a mid-endgame quest. Just avoid getting killed by it and you should be ok. EDIT: Wrong city. The third test is what I must now assume you're talking about. The third test is not northwest of Cotra, it's northeast of fort Dranlon.

If you tell her that you're going to kill her, the entire town rises up against you. If you just attck her then only those that can see her rise up against you.

I think the arcanes and divines are not buyable. I know that dispel barrier is not buyable. Same with luck and gymnastics. Anatomy, again, I think is unbuyable but has buyable prereqs.

Hypothetically, do the words "burn in hell" break the CoC?

You can get the key other ways. Kill Queen Annatolia. She may be harder to kill, but you get a radiant shortblade for your effort.

Why the bow of decay? Why the bow of submission? The multipliers on those are 7-14 + 1-2/level. You should have a blessed longbow (13-39 + 1-3/level) by now. Your main archer should be using that. Also, your melee damage may be inflated by skills such as strength, bladesmaster, anatomy and lethal blow.

The difference was that you were using a nephil (who gets a bonus to bows) for your archer, but did not use a slith (who gets a bonus to pole use) for your halberdier. Also, the best bow has a x7 multiplier, while the best halberd has x4.

If you attack a person where nobody else can see, the town doesn't get mad at you. Grindstone is the earliest place you can get this, but anyplace with these NPCs will have this. The archer guards drop yew bows and steel shields and the warrior guards will drop iron breastplates and iron broadswords. EDIT: Not will, can. These are their best drops.
