You cleared the Formello mines. You have to go to the Draco Mines, the ones with all the unded, and clear that out of the shade at the bottom that was spawning them. Then go south of that shade toward the crystal pillar and follow through the diologue. Go back to the mayor (or was it commander?) and he'll give you papers that allow entry to Formello.

I forgot about that, it seems so simple now that you pointed it out, and yes, I do have experience reading and writing spiderwebcode. That still doesn't change why they turned into floor tiles though.

Whenever I switch the item number of a gold ring and any other item, (graymold in this case, I wanted to finish the damn quest,) all rings turn into floor tiles. When I switched them back, or used a different item, it worked fine. I looked through the script looking for any possible errors, and after some reading through, concluded that what I did with the gold ring was not in any way different with what I did with the stick. (switching the 'begindefineitem' numbers.)

I had the same problem, it happened with all the Exiles, but after a bit of time messing around with the prefrences (compatibility mode, display settings) I managed to get it to work, although for the life of me I can't remember what it was I did. EDIT: No fair, that wasn't there when I hit reply.
