  1. Right now, the way the script works is if the party commits any crime, they will be killed. If the effect is specific only to the hostility of a character, though, you may want to use the character's hostility as a trigger.
  2. #1 looks old-school, in my opinion. In this case, I like it.
  3. I submitted one of my better graphics to the Louvre several months ago. It isn't up.
  4. You may also find this to be of interest. It lists a number of quests in Avernum 1.
  5. I think someone may have confused Foxfire with Meena.
  6. The mage who opens the secret room is immediately south of the wizard to whom you bring evidence. The room with the tomes is immediately south of the mage's position.
  7. There was a thread in the Lyceum about it. I think the poster was on Windows. And the final conclusion was Quote: Items that activate for magic resistance appear to tilt mindduels strongly in the player's favor.
  8. The tranformation from E3 into A3 generally meant not only more health for monsters, but also more damage dealt. Also, melee tends in the Avernum engines to do much more damage than magic will do to a single target. If you want harder combat but the same engine, try the upper-level Blades of Avernum scenarios. Canopy, Bahssikava, and Exodus among others are known for being challenging (and if I forgot a scenario, I'm sorry; I haven't played most of the newer ones). But it sounds like you already have Blades of Exile. I know there are fun and challenging scenarios for it, so why not play those?
  9. I didn't find the original, but here is a quote of myself quoting Jeff. Quote: Originally written by Tony Cryptic, Your Godfather of Fun: And while you're replaying Nethergate, you might want to look into this: Quote: Originally written by Spidweb: OK. Here is the deal with the Nethergate Easter Egg (which will be made easier to find if I ever rework the game). There is some space in a corner of the vale that, when you step on it, makes a little message on the text area. At this point, there is another spot in the opposite end you can step on. If you do this IN THE SAME PLAY SESSION, the quotes on the chapter heading screens change to funny ones. It's ridiculously obscure. I did better in other games. - Jeff Vogel The secondary post can be found here.
  10. I know this is a feature of the Exile 3 editor, but I'm not so sure about Avernum 3. The Exile 3 editor had an option to make hidden towns explorable, regardless of what in-game actions you had taken. If the Avernum 3 editor has the option, that should work
  11. Marghani gives 2300 Google results, of which I'd say 3/4 are related to the Middle East. However, it seems to be only used as a name for people or places, and doesn't have a Wikipedia page. I'd say it's a name of an old historical figure.
  12. New question: will there be a large gap between releases for Macs and PCs like other Spiderweb games?
  13. Hmm. I haven't checked that, but I will on my next run-through. Oh wait.
  14. Some people use god parties to avoid difficult combat. Some people also use the same party for every scenario for convenience.

If I did it correctly, my Zip file should contain a folder with my graphics. You just somehow managed to remove all the file extensions before uploading. I'm not sure how this was accomplished. What FTP client and Operating System are you using? rename 's/$/.bmp/g' * has done the trick. Your graphics are now visible under the normal file names. Thanks, Aran! I'm on Windows and using CrossFTP, a shareware FTP client. I haven't updated it in a while, though, which I expect is the problem.

  17. The funny thing is, the given birthdate is February 11, 1981. Almost 30 years old. Maybe some people just never learn.
  18. Hmm. Maybe it's an Exile vs. Avernum thing. But I'm on a PC, and I don't remember what version it was.
  19. In A/E2, once you bring down the barriers, you can use the Editor to return to Avernum. More areas will have opened up for you.
  20. I vaguely remember this. I think there's a band of rebels/deserters somewhere on the northwest coast of Valorim; when you encounter them, one of them will blow a horn. That's how I got mine. But it's probably a better idea to edit yourself a horn.

  23. Oh, one other thing: does this mean there will be special monster scripts?
  24. And maybe now, someone will actually trigger the Easter Egg.
