  1. Well, you do save the surface and cast down the sworn enemy of the general human population. You just don't get any time to enjoy it.
  2. Oh, I get it. I forgot that cr_summon_class existed.
  3. How do you determine the summon level of a spell?
  4. 1) It's not really necessary to post the entire script when it's this long 2) In line 98, the name of the terrain is "mine"; did you want it to be "Mine"? 3) In line 225, the terrain's name is "boat"; were you looking for "Boat"? 4) In lines 315 and 320, the letter "I" is defined twice and there is no letter "J". 5) In line 631, you wrote "Flaming piller". Were you thinking of "Flaming pillar"? I'm sorry I can't help you with your actual problem, but it appears that there is no line 739 in your script so I can't find the error. EDIT: Wow. So easy to spot, now that you know where it is.

MN hasn't been around enough to know that SoT is a good poster.
  6. A few of the secret passages which would appear to take you further ahead are blocked by height changes, though. Don't get obsessed with trying to find a way to unblock one passage because the actual way forward is probably somewhere else. If one route doesn't work, just move on and make sure to check all areas for possible secret passages. Also, doesn't Athron change sexes either in the transition from E to A or AX to AX + 1?
  7. An elipsis is also used to indicate a silent pause in speech. That is the intended use in this case. However, since we're not speaking here, there's still no point in using the elipsis. As a common member, I'm making a suggestion which I hope we can all comply with: from now on, no one reads posts in a similar structure, especially from bigfix or Valcrist. Bad technique is bad enough; you don't need to pile on ugly style as well.
  8. Turrets are exactly the same in G3 and G2. Serviles with swords are exactly the same in G3 and G2. Battle Alphas are exactly the same in G3 and G2. Pylons are exactly the same in G3 and G2. Glaahks are exactly the same in G3 and G2. Shades are exactly the same in G3 and G2. Non-Shaper mages are exactly the same in G3 and G2. Non-Shaper warriors are exactly the same in G3 and G2. Drakys are exactly the same in G3 and G2. Rats are exactly the same in G3 and G2. Townsmen with blue shirts are exactly the same in G3 and G2. I'm going to stop there. It's pointless to continue this. Post exactly which creature graphics you want ported, and then someone will help you.
  9. Fyorae are nearly identical, but in G3 they have a few green stripes on their back whereas in G2 they are pretty much pure red. However, if you really want the new Fyorae, you can just copy all of the Fyorae graphic files from the G3 folder into the G2 folder and accepting any prompts to overwrite the old ones. Artillae are exactly the same in G3 as in G2. Thahds in G3 take up a differently-sized box. You'd have to copy and paste each individual picture of the Thahd, which probably isn't worth it. That's too bad, because it has the greatest number of changes. Serviles are exactly the same in G3 as in G2. Clawbugs gained an icon in their death sequence, but otherwise they're identical. However, the G2 death sequences have more change in them from beginning to end; they're probably better. Roamers are exactly the same in G3 and G2. Vlish are exactly the same in G3 and G2. Ornks are exactly the same in G3 and G2. Spawners underwent some serious remodelling, as you might have noticed. The widths of the spawners are greater in G3, as well as the shape and coloring. The changes made are up there with Thahds. I'll finish the others later. I have to go somewhere now.
  10. Bump for real thread content. So does anyone at all plan to use these? Is the style too weird? Are the colors ugly? Is it because of all of the errors? Or is it just that no one needs these graphics because the few designers are wrapping up their scenarios now?
  11. I haven't checked all of them, but I know that the guy with the axe shows up fine (in terms of coloring; his foot is, as TM pointed out, cut off). I figure that if one is okay, then there's no reason for any of the others to be different. EDIT: A sneaky guy. What I was trying to make when I made G580. By Bonzai. http://stuff.ermarian.net/rakshasi/G567.bmp Some sort of ornately dressed spellcaster - perhaps something like a Cardinal, except in Ermarian. The death sequence is boxed in by BoA. By Bonzai. http://stuff.ermarian.net/rakshasi/G568.bmp A short asexual cleric. I think I did very well on the outdoors graphics. By Grim. http://stuff.ermarian.net/rakshasi/G569.bmp EDIT: Mage. Bonzai. Blah. http://stuff.ermarian.net/rakshasi/G570.bmp EDIT: A super-swordsman guy. Bonzai. http://stuff.ermarian.net/rakshasi/G571.bmp EDIT: Spellcaster. Grim and Bonzai. http://stuff.ermarian.net/rakshasi/G572.bmp
  12. I just keep on going, huh? Okay, I caved in and half-fixed the axeman graphic. I also ported a few more while I was at it. http://stuff.ermarian.net/rakshasi/G545.bmp I know these don't work well in BoA, but oh well. http://stuff.ermarian.net/rakshasi/G563.bmp Mounted swordswoman. http://stuff.ermarian.net/rakshasi/G564.bmp Color inverse of the earlier spellcaster guy. It's hard to see. http://stuff.ermarian.net/rakshasi/G565.bmp EDIT: New swordsman on horse. By Grim. Whoo-hoo. http://stuff.ermarian.net/rakshasi/G566.bmp That brings the total of similar-looking horsemen up to three. That means that the total of mounted units is up to six.
  13. Bump. Quote: Originally written by Ephesos: Can anybody find the appropriate SDF? I believe that would fix ginger's problem. He said that it was huge and since he didn't say anything more, I think it's pretty much settled that he isn't going to make an electronic version.

By Grim. Huh, who saw that coming? Anyway, I think I'm getting better. Only the outdoors graphics and the death sequence are bad. http://stuff.ermarian.net/rakshasi/G537.bmp
  15. If someone needs it, I'll fix it. Otherwise... EDIT: But I had to clear up the stupidity with the red Paladin, specifically his death phase. Before, it had bits of paladin pictures which I had thought I might use. Now, however, it has the paladin in a normal resting stance for half the time and then reared up in the air for the other half of the time. http://stuff.ermarian.net/rakshasi/G536.bmp Another EDIT: http://stuff.ermarian.net/rakshasi/G546.bmp Mounted common swordsman. Made by Intelligent Systems, ripped by Grim. Yet another EDIT: http://stuff.ermarian.net/rakshasi/G548.bmp Swordswoman in blue, ripped by Grim. Possibly the last EDIT before I go to sleep: http://stuff.ermarian.net/rakshasi/G549.bmp The kind of character I was going for when I edited 560. Ripped by Grim. He sure sounds important.
  16. Update: one more! Hooray for excessive amounts of blood. Its outdoor graphics might possibly be the ugliest little blobs on Earth, but it might also be called my best work. http://stuff.ermarian.net/rakshasi/G545.bmp Ripped by Grim and Bonzai. EDIT: Ah, Luthair. Now I remember what made me start converting FE graphics in the first place. If you plan on doing any more FE graphics, TM, I'd like to know so that I don't do the same ones.
  17. There are only two graphics here which are actual originals of mine, so you don't have to give any credit to me unless I specifically say that it is an original of mine. http://stuff.ermarian.net/rakshasi/G510.bmp This is a merging of the "Erika" and "Widow Queen" graphics. Both from Spidweb. http://stuff.ermarian.net/rakshasi/G521.bmp Heavily edited Widow Queen from Spidweb. http://stuff.ermarian.net/rakshasi/G526.bmp Recolor (or maybe it's the earlier version?) of above. http://stuff.ermarian.net/rakshasi/G528.bmp Edit off that Adlerauge fellow from Canopy, by Necris Omega. http://stuff.ermarian.net/rakshasi/G529.bmp Edit of the edit by Necris Omega. I sure am lazy, huh? http://stuff.ermarian.net/rakshasi/G530.bmp An original by me, but inspired by some anime picture whose location was forgotten soon after I made the graphic. I'm sure TM is crying about the kanji. http://stuff.ermarian.net/rakshasi/G535.bmp This, however, should make him feel a bit better. By Intelligent Systems, somehow appropriated by CO Raptor, and then edited into BoA format by me. http://stuff.ermarian.net/rakshasi/G536.bmp From a different source, but presumably gotten in the same way. From Intelligent Systems to someone named Knucho to me to you. http://stuff.ermarian.net/rakshasi/G560.bmp An edit from the original "Blademaster" graphic from Spidweb. http://stuff.ermarian.net/rakshasi/G561.bmp See above. http://stuff.ermarian.net/rakshasi/G562.bmp See above. http://stuff.ermarian.net/rakshasi/G580.bmp My lowest point in graphics history. An original, I can't blame this on someone else. http://stuff.ermarian.net/rakshasi/G591.bmp A splicing of the "Vampire" and "Imp" graphics from Spidweb. Thanks to Aran, whose webspace I took without asking.
  18. The files you want are called "gf3floorster", "gf3objmisc", and "gf3itemschars". "gf3floorster" contains definitions for floors and terrain, and so on. "gf3itemschars" is where most of the action is. There you can change names, looks, attack types, and much more. Before you do any editing, though, you should back up the files being edited. Sometimes, it's possible to make a mistake or purposely change something and then forget what you did. Then you're left with a broken script and no way to change it back. Now, let's say that you want to make your Terror Vlishes fire actual Terror spells. Open up "gf3itemschars" using a basic text editor and then look around for the Terror Vlish (use CTRL + F and search for "Terror Vlish"). Then look at the lines with _abil_ in them. However, anything in the same line behind two dashes ("//") is ignored by the game. So skip the bit about ability 13 and go to " cr_abil_num 1 = 60; // terror". Jeff would swear that this is a Terror spell, but it's not. Ability 13, rather than 60, is. So make the Vlish's first ability 13 instead of 60. Read below to see if you did it correctly. The only thing you had to change was "cr_abil_num 1 = 60;" to "cr_abil_num_1 = 13;". Now your Vlish will terrify foes quite easily. However, this kind of makes the game harder because enemies flee with a large amount of health still left, so you have to track them down over and over. Also, many non-creations have high resistances to Terror, such as Spinecores. All you have to do is change a few digits, and then suddenly your Cryoae will fire Discipline blasts and your red drays will have sixteen AP. The trick is to identify what ability you want to give a creature, find out where that exists in the game, and then be able to move it to another creature.
  19. I believe that both have useful things to share, though. So if you want to investigate every little detail in the Avernum world, you'll have to hold off killing them for a little while.
  20. I'm guessing crossmr wants to put his/her best equipment on their lead character. Since DEX doesn't factor into armor (unless Jeff's been fooling around with the formulae again) you can't tell which would be better by using prevention totals. The change between 6% and 2% +1 DEX is probably going to go unnoticed. Overall, they'll prevent about the same amount of damage. Some of it will be in hits missed and some of it will be in damage blocked though. If you had equipment with, say, 50% armor versus +X DEX, where X = prevents an equal amount of damage, I'd say that you should go with the DEX because that's probably enough to make your character a good shot without even training, whereas armor only blocks damage.

  22. Slartucker is gone, but most BoA designers (or at least people who can design) can help you. Not many have an exact copy of the file as changed by Slartucker, though, so please tell us what exactly you want.
  23. It keeps ginger from relying on poor people like you. And also encouraging people like ginger to read responses to their posts.
  24. It's good to read threads after you post in them. Sometimes, there're nice suprises and useful information.
  25. Go to Shayder on the Isle of Bigail. Talk to the innkeeper until the conversation turns toward the shifty man in the corner. Make sure she tells you that he's looking for some help. Then talk to the man about the package.
