  2. When I got to South End I was at level four, and had 13 points of essence. To make a Fyora costs a base of eight; two points in Intelligence costs three more in essence (new total is 11). This would leave me with only two points in essence to spare; assuming I don't give them to the Fyora.
  3. Essence is hard to come by without investing in Intelligence, so making creations (especially early on) isn't very helpful. Alwan and/or Greta make things much easier since they leave the little essence you have available for healing.
  4. Aside from Living Tools being in short supply, not having enough leadership (Guardian starts with two) becomes a problem when you get to South End. The skill is too low to convince people to give you things for free, so if you want to read Crider's Thahd book you have to pay 200 coins. Sellable items are plentiful, but it takes many trips back to South End with such low strength. As far as combat goes it's not too difficult early on, especially with Alwan or Greta along. Getting through the mine field is indeed an interesting process, as once in a while you just can't get away fast enough. It seems doable to get through the game like this while playing on torment, but the lack of leadership will cause a decent amount to be missed, at least early on. I stopped at Dhonal's Island, and haven't had too much trouble with the combat; the Creator and Spawners are a bit difficult.
  5. Sip006 - I started a new game using gf3itemschars.txt, and found that the dagger on the table at the very beginning is a piece of terrain (grass) that cannot be equipped. Hmm, on second glance, all items are grass. Edit: I had to stop testing it because GF kept crashing, and I was unable to load save files without it crashing; after putting back the original gf3itemschars.txt this stopped happening. The Servant mind in the school, the turrets, and Litalia (sp) and her creations all look very strange in various ways. Alwan and Hoge look normal, but Alwan is the only one moving very fast,
  6. If your leadership is high enough you can just tell the commander what is in the mines, and leave without killing it; you still have to go see it though.
  7. I liked Avernum 1's story a bit more and was more comfortable with the way the game worked, but I really liked getting both view points from Nethergate. I suppose I like Avernum 1 a little bit more.
  8. Schrodinger's FAQ/Walkthrough is at the top of this forum, and between it and this forum you access to all the answers. Some people prefer to have the book, as it gives you the ability to search for the needed information while staying in the game, so it depends what meets your needs.
  9. Great He said it left something out, but I don't know what. Glad to hear you got it working.
  10. You need both if you want all of the features to work, so try Wizard\'s editor (save as z10testingdlg.txt), and see if it works for you. Edit: I'm not sure what you don't get if you leave out gf3itemschars.txt; you'd have to try it see.
  11. Both of them are Slp006's, right? Those are meant to be used together. I'll go load them and see if I get the same thing. Edit: Hmm, it's working fine for me. Are you sure you saved the complete scripts?
  12. When you say, "I did that", what exactly did you do? What editor are you currently using?
  13. Sorry, You cannot get rid of the Summoning Orb, so you'll need to start over. Try using the editors at the top of the screen instead of the one you used. Edit: Hawk King - Can you please remove the special items (Summoning Orb) from your editor or remove the editor entirely, so this doesn't happen to anyone else?
  14. Here are the Drayk , Clawbug , Artila , and Vlish .
  15. It only takes my computer about 20 seconds (usually less) to load the next section, so I have not had a chance to read the loading screen either.

Are asking how to put the items on the list into your inventory? If so, I suggest you use one of the editors at the top of this forum.
  17. I like the angry man (I don't know why); I let him out of his house so he can get some fresh air and cool down a bit, and sometimes I loot. I haven't found a quest for him, but you can't blame him for being annoyed after someone breaks into his house, and possibly ends up looting him.
  18. BBEdit did solve the problem, thank you very much. I didn't mention it eerier because it was more of a matter of appearance than a scripting problem, but they look much better and are easier to read now.
  19. I tried to open it once or twice at too low a level, and obviously had no luck. I ended up opening it at the very end of the game; it was the last thing I did, and I was finally strong enough to not die (though I may have been able to do it sooner). I was also somewhat disappointed to find that there wasn't any great treasure for my trouble, but I was too busy being satisfied with my curiosity settled to care very much. Even if there was something good in there, I wouldn't have gotten it until I was about to leave to go back to the mainland and the item would have gone to waste. To make a long story short, it doesn't bother me all that much.
  20. People were having problems with working editors as well as ones that needed a bit of polishing. I don't see why they are not working, but a few people have had problems. The ones at the top of this forum all work very well, so give them a try if you haven't yet.
  21. Thank you Drakey and Thralni; I'll try it as soon as I get home this afternoon, and I am on a Mac
  22. iloveserviles -Makes you a rebel ihateserviles -Makes you a loyalist These are the right codes for GF3.
  23. Thank you for taking the time to mention this, but I just recently posted that same SDF in the FAQ/Walkthrough thread, and somebody else posted that before me somewhere else.
  24. Since the spacing/tabbing was mentioned… My scripts will not work if I use tabs. I get "invalid symbol in line X". If I take out the tabs everything works fine. Leaving lines separating each call, but having everything touching the left margin works as it's supposed to. Existing scripts work with the spaces/tabs, but my scripts will not allow it. Any thoughts why this may be? I'm using Simpletext, if that has something to do with it.
