  1. No. The canisters have much less of an impact in GF2. You notice a bit of glowing and get a little irritable, but they won't actually make you attack anyone. Edit: sp
  2. Or whenever you're in public you feel the need to wear hooded robes to hide your glowing skin.
  3. Ah, my beloved pants of power. I'll wear no pants before bandit pants. Well, I must admit to having worn the pants that resemble pants of power a time or two.
  4. If you have already voted it seems you've made a decision without needing a poll. Try the demo, and if you like it buy it, if not don't.
  5. The first time around I kept all the loot I found, and at the end of the game I had two huge piles and very little money. I figured I should keep all armor/wep/ring.. that offer a different form of protection, but in the end I never used most of it. Unless you plan on switching rings to utilize the different stat bonuses sell them.
  6. I took every bar of iron I could find to Dowdy. I gave all of the bars to one character, and when he was getting close to being encumbered I used the pylons to teleport back and forth. For the most part the extra cash was more that worth the couple minutes it took to make the deliveries, IMO.

And if so, are serviles close enough to humans that we might be able to use the geneforge as well?
  8. Not sure about PC, but on a Mac the trilogy and BoA lets you play full screen or windowed. A4 is the only one that doesn't.
  9. I don’t think that would do you much good in the abyss, as well as with the shop keepers that would rather not make a trip to the castle to get paid.
  10. This is so nice to hear More in-depth plot, new creations and spells, and five character classes sounds great. Having the PC's actions rather than dialog options determine their allegiance is a nice improvement too. I also really like the idea of the creatures being grouped rather than randomly spread out, as I like battles to be based on strategy more than strength alone.
  11. Though being original is difficult after 11 pages I'll add my two cents anyway. Quote: Originally written by Spidweb: The way I currently picture Avernum 5 is: i. More like Avernum 2 in details of storyline. ... v. More talk and diplomacy. ... - Jeff Vogel If this is what A5 ends up being I'm happy for the most part. The exploration of new places would reintroduce the sense of discovering the unknown that was lacking in A5. A more in-depth plot giving it more of an A2 feel would be nice as well. As far as the main conflict goes I'd be happy with almost anything aside from Vahnatai. The boats were a very nice aspect of the early Avernums, as was the teleportation system in A4. Though I greatly prefer Avernum's engine I wouldn't mind A4's nearly as much if the graphics were distinctly different from those of Geneforge. 12. I prefer two (sometimes three) stronger creations rather than seven weaker ones. After playing Avernum I started using my own magic more than wands, and I like being able to do things like unlock doors without living tools. Seven creations might look impressive, but they tend to be weak, and consume a ton of essence.

Quote: Originally written by Major: Well, first of all I have done this before so it is possible. 2nd go to gf3itemschars.txt And replace the old shaper thing with this begindefinecreature 0; cr_name = "Shaper"; cr_graphic_template = 85; //110 cr_max_health = 20; cr_max_energy = 20; cr_max_essence = 10; cr_regen_rate = 2; cr_energy_regen_rate = 2; cr_walk_speed = 24; //base_speed; cr_base_level = 1; cr_sound_when_slain = 127; Now to the right of the 85 is 110 which is the shaper graphics so when you don't wont drakon graphics you can just swap 85 with 110. 3rd It will change the size to make it right. 4th Good luck. 5th My first post!!!! And I already need to edit. 6th (what I missed)Adding a sword or a baton will change the graphics from a drakon. (I forgot what it changed to.) This makes all NPC Shapers into Drakons, and oddly my PC Shaper is a Drakon in the icon in the upper left corner, but the walking character itself is an Eyebeast.
  14. The thought of GIFTS in Geneforge is just as awful as Shapers in Avernum.
  15. The same thing happened to me after switching to Tiger (while using version 1.02b5). Downloading the same version I had before and throwing away the old one fixed it. Actually, I had to do the same thing with A3.
  16. The boat is now in Gull North Docks just east of Khor's Keeps.
  17. Quote: Originally written by lord llama: to be entiely honist i hate reading and avoid it as much as i can You dislike reading but enjoy SW games? Interesting… The Avernum trilogy is more or less the same as the Exile trilogy. There are some differences, but not enough to play both trilogies, IMO. Try BoE instead.
  18. Changing the template number in the script alone wont give the desired effect. As said earlier the Drakon graphic is larger than the Shaper graphic. It would take more work than it's worth to make a PC Drakon, and since all shapers (including the PC) share the same template all Shapers would become Drakons.
  19. I don't really understand what the bug would be, as I'm not sure what you were trying to do.
  20. I bought A4, but only because of overwhelming curiosity of what happens next, and I couldn't resist experiencing Avernumforge. I'm still not done with it. After I found out who was behind it all I lost most interest in it. Also, the dungeons are way too big. It drove me nuts wandering endlessly through tunnel system after tunnel system. I don't want to be too hard on Jeff, as I'm sure it's difficult to be 100% original after the 4th in a series, but any other bad guy would have been more interesting. That said I'm sure I'll buy A5 as well, just as I'll buy GF4 (Please of the love of God let it not be Drakons). A4 really is an okay game, but it's certainly not Jeff's best work. If you've played other SW games I'd say buy it, as it very inexpensive and it's something to do. If someone is new to SW games "don't buy it". Edit: sp
  21. The only cheat I use is "exitzone". I have used "clearthisarea" for certain areas that I need to be able to pas through to get to another area, but most of the time I'd rather do whatever task that needs to be done before moving on.
  22. It's just a couple of vats with rogue creations inside. One is a Battle Alpha, and I don't remember what the other one is.
