  1. Run the mouse along the wall just south of the door. It's a little hard to find but there is a lever there.
  2. I don't have a PC, but here's the trainer .
  3. Alwan is pro-shaper, and Greta pro-rebel (tell them you support their cause). Other than that if one leaves you due to you having beliefs differing from those they support they wont want to follow you anymore. If you radically change your belief they will give you a second chance, but through testing different things in the game I found that often times they will never rejoin you.

  6. That canister is indeed meant for Lankan, and no one else. Though you are unable to use it yourself you might want to take it with you. Be careful not to let Lankan see you with it though, as he can be a bit canister happy.

I recall him wanting to use the Geneforge, but I don't remember any mention of canisters. If someone finds discarded canister husks in his temple, let me know. There is a couple by the south entrance.
  8. As far as I know Shapers are just highly trained humans. It says you went though years of training, and that few people become Shapers. I'll fish around and see if I can find anything more solid than that, but at no times have I seen anything call the Shapers a unique species. Edit: As far as where to find evidence the best place I can think to look is in the intro text, as was well as throughout the dialogue.

  10. I don't really see any of the sects as having higher moral or ethical standards than the person that plays for all/none of the sects. The Shapers keep sentient beings as slaves, and are greedy with their abilities. The Barzites are similar to the Shapers except for their unending lust of ultimate power. The Awakened, to me at least, are the closest to being decent creatures; though in a world as violent as the one Geneforge takes place in makes being that passive likely to get one killed. Also, Awakened had plenty of holding cells themselves. The Takers seem to me to be a combination of the three groups. The have the Barzites desire for great power, the Awakened desire for freedom, and the Shaper's desire for control (Drakons and drayks as an example). For the most part I'm unallied, and to stay that way you can't do any major harm to any group. After a certain point you have to start doing bigger quests for some of the sects, so you have to close the door to one or two of the others. In the end I end up wiping out all the sects, though often leave the Awakened unharmed (but not alleged).
  11. Quote: Originally written by Jumpin' Salmon: When do the goblins pounce? Well, I do greatly prefer goblins to undead I was thinking of side quests like wild animals, or people needing assistance, and so on, so the player would get to know both the villagers with the ill animals and the dragon's villagers. That way they'll be more inclined to sympathize with one or the other. Quote: The only poor advice I can offer is to really force the moral dilemna on the player. Make them choose to help the cattle or the dragon AND face the consequences. The dragon and her villagers will attack the party if they try to take the herbal supplements out of the valley. The sickly villagers will order up some meanies of their own once they hear that the party is NOT returning with the green goo. Hmm, defiantly, I hadn't gotten as far as the aftermath of the player's decision, but I like the sound of that. I can see the dragon's people attacking the player, as taking the herb out of the valley pretty much ends their way of life, as well as their beloved dragon. The empire town's reaction is part of where I'm getting stuck, as odds are they wouldn't even know if the herb had been removed by someone else. I suppose the empire town could attack the dragon's town in a fit of desperation and rage, but that seems like a story in itself.
  12. The scripting I can do, but coming up with good stories is a little harder for me. I wanted to see what people thought of this, and see if anyone has any ideas to improve it, or if it's worth doing at all. Sorry for the long post. This really isn't as massive as it looks. -------------------------------------------------------- The empire sends you to a small town to investigate reports of sick/dying livestock. The mayor of the town tells you that the local mage may have some ideas to help the animals. The mage tells you that the townspeople are too weak from eating the sickly animals to help him, so he sends you to a distant area of empire lands to obtain a very rare herb (which blooms once every 100 years, or something) to make a potion that will cure the animal's illness. After a couple days journey you come to the valley in which the herb is thought to be found, and discover that the area that was thought to be uninhabited has a number of people. After talking to the people you learn that they have formed a community outside of empire control, and they ask you to meet with "the wise one" rather than report back to the empire. "The wise one" turns out to be a dragon that has been protecting the people from any empire soldiers that come, and in return the people give it offerings of treasures they find (as well as bringing it food and caring for it if need be). The dragon has recently become very ill and is close to dying, but she has a single egg that once hatched will take her place. The same herb that the sick livestock need is needed to keep the dragon alive long enough to ensure her baby hatches, and protect the rare species (as well as allow the people to continue living free of the empire's control). --------------------------------------------------------- I was thinking that the main combat would be in the process of obtaining the herb, so the scenario would be 3 towns, 1 dungeon, and 1-2 outdoor sections. The player can either bring the herb back to the mage, and save the livestock. The reward would be something along the lines of priest spells and potion making xp. The other option would be the player could give the herb to the dragon, and the dragon would give the reword of arcane lore and nature lore xp. I wanted something fairly simple for a first scenario, but this doesn't seem to leave much room for anything elaborate. Is the plot too simple? Is there too little combat? Is it boring to not have a "bad guy"? Is the conflict lacking? (would anyone sacrifice the health and wellbeing of a town full of people to save a baby dragon, and the freedom of another town full of people?)
  13. There isn't enough profit, or a big enough audience for the Exile trilogy for it to be worth it for Jeff to make an E4, so no.
  14. This particular door can be exited but not entered, as a rebel that is.
  15. I found Avernum after GF1, which I found by doing a Google search for "shareware and Mac". First Avernum game: A2 Favorite game (in the trilogy): A2
  16. Using exitzone will take you out of the area, but since it is a sublevel you'll end up outside of the academy instead of the map screen. Edit: exitzone only removes you from the area, and does not clear it (it will still be red on the map).
  17. I'm probably missing something obvious, but what was it called in the game?
  18. The boat is in Gull North Docks; it's on the northeast side of the island.
  19. This has been done a few times, but I'm going to be lazy this time and not post the links. I like Drayks and Cryodrayks. I play an Agent with one Cryoa until I get the first Drayk canister. I keep one drayk until I'm able to make Cryodrayks, and I'll keep one or two of them with me. Fire creations have always worked best for me, and though I have tried the others I always go back to my regular creations.
  20. What do you mean by "turn off cheats"? Do you want to not be able to use cheat codes, or do you want to undo the cheats you have already used? I don't see why you would want to do the former, as you could just not use the cheats. There is no way to undo cheats you have already done. If you typed iwanttobestronger there is no way to take away the experience you gained, and you would need to load a save file to undo those cheats. Replacing a trainer with the original script would make it so you couldn't cheat any further, but obviously would not undo what has already been done.
  21. The Louvre has some GF graphics. Edit: The GF graphics would likely be color variations, and some BoA graphics might work.
  22. Shift-click splits up stacks of items on a Mac as well. Quote: It seems that only when selling to merchants do you get the option to sell X of any item, but I don't want to have to keep wasting gold to buy items back from the merchants I just sold them to! Once items are sold to shops are permanently gone. Sometimes the shopkeeper happens to be selling the item you sold, but if you sell something rare or valuable it will be lost.
  23. All of the choices for characters and colors are available in the demo; there won't be any new one's in the full version.
