  1. Geneforge's plot doesn't leave a ton of room to elaborate beyond what Jeff has already written in the series. The storyline is pretty straightforward, and honestly I don’t really foresee BoG having many designers.
  2. I left those particular people alone. I didn’t really need anything, and would rather leave them alone if possible. Also, it didn't look like they had anything all that valuable.
  3. There are, however, several duplicates of most items. I usually leave everything I find in piles by town entrances, and when I run out of cash I sell the items that I have a lot of. Honestly, I played the first time through without forging anything and sold everything in sight.

  5. A2 is more of an Avernum game than A4, so A2.
  6. The only cheat I use on a regular basis is "backtostart" when I'm too far from a town or pylon to walk. I have used healing cheats from time to time, but I would rather not if possible.
  7. I seem to play GF a bit differently than most in the sense that my combat style mixes the classes. My Agent relies on melee more than magic, but uses magic for tough battles. And, of course, my Agent always has two Drayks with her. This works well for me, and I usually end up stronger than if I made a magic based Agent. My Shaper is able to fight for her/himself, and is not reliant on the creations, though I always have a small pack following me around. My Shapers primary attack is melee, and magic is secondary. This has also worked very well for me. So, IMO, I'd like to keep the spells I'm familiar with open to all classes rather than specialized, as it restricts the player to more linier character choices.

  9. He can't talk, thankfully, The Ornkskin gloves are very much worth the fight, but in my experience the Ornk keeps walking away and ending combat. I figured I'd let him be, but every time I walked away it would fallow me a couple steps before biting me and running off again.
  10. Both Cong Fu and Tai Chi are not Japanese.

  12. Jeff makes his games in such a way that you can start at any point in the series you like. It does help to play them in order, but it's not necessary. I can't really give an estimate of how many hours it took me to finish the games, but they are fairly large. You can use the same copy for both computers. The main difference between A4 and the trilogy is that A4 uses the Geneforge engine instead of Avernum's. This makes some differences in how combat and dialogue works, but A4 is still turn based like the previous Avernums. Edit: As far as what game to start with, if you don’t mind playing out of order I would recommend A2.
  13. It has been a while, so I'll try it again. Edit: Well, I'll be, they rip you off pretty bad but they do gain money when you sell to them. Wonder was I was thinking of.
  14. My Agent is often named "Ayame", " Kaiya ", or "Kaida". All of which are Japanese names, as is my current PDN. This comes from early childhood experiences that bring back fond memories, as well as the type of bodywork I do.

If you return to the castle, however, you'll get game over.

  18. This is an unfortunate feature of GF2. The shops do run out of money, and you buying things from them won't give them more cash. Aside from altering the scripts to make a pillar or other such location to give you cash (or using one of the trainers) there is no way to get anymore money. Just go to every town and sell your things until they all run out of money. Since training is expensive it might be wise to buy two levels of whatever skill from the trainers before using canisters and book. Also, being selective as far as what training to buy will help.
  19. Spoilers ////////// ////////// ////////// ////////// ////////// ////////// ////////// ////////// ////////// ////////// ////////// ////////// ////////// No, in the unallied ending you live the perfect yet lonely life. They give you a job, and head off to destroy everything that remains of the sects. I killed every sect leader except the Awakened, and they approved of that. Even the Loyalist broke shaper laws, so they were fine with you killing them as well. I'd have to go back and read it again to give exact details, but it's actually the most prosperous of the endings, IIRC.

Bookworm, please give a spoiler warning before telling people what happens at the end. Also, this is not what happens at the end with a canister using unallied in GF2.

  22. 23. When the sight of broken bottles makes you crave another canister. 24. When you ask your friends and neighbors if they have any quests for you.
  23. Creatures like dragons, demons, undead, and especially aranea would offer a fairly limited plot. All of these creatures are feared or disliked to some degree by the townspeople, so you would have to play on the side of trying to destroy Exile. Wolf and fox-like humanoids are redundant to the two already playable humanoids. Vahnatai - Honestly, I'd much rather see Jeff take the plot in a different direction. Vahnatai are done as demons, IMO. GIFTS - The thought makes me insane. Swamp Folk?
  24. 11. You look for "NY" labels to see if items belong to people. 12. You wish you could load a save file when you've done something you regret. 13. When you come to a locked door you throw your hands in the air in hopes that it will magically open for you.
  25. I'd prefer to see new creations rather than being able to make Ur-Drakons. For the cost of essence it takes to make Drakons they are really not strong enough. My Drayks and Cryodrayks were nearly as strong after having gained a few levels from combat xp. Having two or three Drayks/Cryodrayks will get you further than having one Drakon.
