  1. They are named after them. Jeff does this sometimes. There are also South Park characters in ASR.
  2. The rule of thumb is closer to a week. As of last check, my impression was that topic revival was okay as long as you have something genuinely new and useful to add that justifies bringing back up the discussion. Xyra's was borderline. Laudimir's was bad (because it was useless). I'm going to leave this open, on the off-chance that someone has something relevant to say about Athron's lair or something, but I recommend not posting in it unless you've really got something good.

  4. For anyone who missed it, this is a redundant topic. If I were a mod of this forum, I would lock this topic and link to the actual thread .
  5. Given that these editors are text files, they'll work for both Mac and Windows. Indeterminatus's link at the beginning of this thread still works.
  6. Definitely the mage should be the one with the lockpicking skill. The other two are a bit more subjective. I think I used all humans, but I forget what the results of the investigations into this were. I think I primarily used melee, but eh. Here\'s where to go for this stuff, though.
  7. It would probably be simplest if we just made the Mac version able to accept BMPs, just like the Windows version. Any decent graphics editing program can make a BMP (whereas you really need ResEdit or something comparable to make a meg), and they're already included with existing scenarios.
  8. Generally Alint is better at figuring out what those errors are than the BoA compiler is.

  12. I don't really miss food. My only real experience with it was BoE, and it didn't add a lot to the gameplay. I also don't know about this idea of combining magical and physical fatigue into one things. It seems like fatigue is supposed to work very differently from spell points, so the two aren't meant to be mixed. There has never really been a "rogue" character in Avernum. Maybe in GF, if you count Leadership-and-Mechanics-based characters, but not in Avernum. Basically, there are melee fighters, missile fighters, priests, and mages (usually multi-classed in some way, so a melee fighter may have some missile skills). Which leads to the obvious question: will battle disciplines also influence missile attacks?
  13. Ah, Dorikas. We kinda figured he'd be the focus of A5. That's good news, I think.
  14. You've been post-empted. Direct further comments here .
  15. Looks neat! Uh... that's about all I have to say at the moment.
  16. Oh, hey, speaking of the font being different, could we now fix the Mac-Windows font size difference issue? A few scenarios created by Windows designers have text that over-runs the screen on a Mac because of the size difference, and it seems like that would be an easy problem to fix now. Um, unless someone already fixed it while I wasn't looking.
  17. I kept a fighter near the pylon to prevent it from insta-healing itself and threw a bunch of ranged attacks from just outside its range and just inside mine. This worked fine (but took forever).
  18. Well, it is possible to destroy them one at a time. This is what I did. Stand in range of only one pylon at a time and focus on just that one. Then heal and proceed to the next. For the less OCD, you can sneak through. If you're just out of range, the pylons won't shoot at you, and it is possible to use combat mode to end up just out of range in each turn.
  19. I was under the impression that it was considered possible but not actually successfully achieved, at least not to the point where we had full control.
  20. Neat! Now, if only we could do this in BoA....
  21. That post didn't make sense. The first line isn't a sentence (or a coherent thought), and there's no reason that I can see to lock this thread. Please stop posting things that don't make sense or don't need to be said. I don't mean to be harsh, but try a little harder. I think you can get the hang of this.
  22. Why would one revive a dead topic just to talk about ban-worthy subjects? I am confused by the stupidity. Anyway, methinks we are done here.
  23. You find them in the folder called "Geneforge 4 Files," in the folder called "Scripts." You replace them the way you would replace any text file in a folder: drag the old file out and drag the new file in. Of course, you'll want to keep track of the old files, because you can seriously screw your game up by tampering with the files, and putting back the old, untouched files will fix that.
  24. Have you tried rebooting in OS 9 and then trying the Older Macs version?
  25. So you can tell if your strings are too long.
