  1. Specifically, in the center of the northern part of the city, at (22,4), there's a trap door to the part of the underground you couldn't reach.
  2. Get into the river travel and don't rush. Do as much as you can along the journey. It's pretty cool when you realize that you're going somewhere you've never seen before, and your sorrow at leaving Avernum can be mitigated by the fact that you're going to return. It was the coolness of Dark Waters that made me want to make Exodus (a BoA scenario that is basically a gigantic river journey). And enjoy A2. It's probably the finest of the original Avernum Trilogy (although they each have their merits).
  3. I do still check this site from time to time. I'll probably be around a little more in a month or two, but this semester has really killed me with work and stuff. But if anyone would like to organize the bugs list or create a new post that covers more, there's nothing stopping you. The only reason my post is the definitive one right now is that it's the only effort anyone has made to be comprehensive.

  5. Well, I definitely filled out an application. I'd like to see what Jeff has done with this one. I like most of what I've heard about A5.

  7. This seemed to be the most significant thread discussing the Windows version. General discussion of what to do with the source happened a lot here . EDIT: To anyone who's wondering, despite the signature, no, that's not the member commonly known as "Ed." 'Round these parts, he's called "Arenax."
  8. Some of them are at the Codex at the Lyceum. I'm pretty sure I saved most of them, too, so if there are any that are mentioned on that thread but not saved at the Codex, post the names and I'll look.
  9. Some of the newest computers can't run the old Nethergate at all, so this is an update for newer systems with a little bit of touching up and a couple bonus dungeons. That's really all it is, which is why it costs next to nothing if you have the old version.

We have official permission to discuss hex-editing of save files in order to fix them. We can't talk about hex-editing for more nefarious purposes.

  14. Quote: Originally written by Spidweb: Also, I hate music in games. Oh, right. That's the third major objection usually posed. The other two objections may not hold up to rigorous scrutiny, but I think this one does.
  15. This brings to mind an interesting point. Some people have suggested that Spidweb games should have music. The usual response is that the download sizes need to be kept relatively small, but this track is only 4k; that wouldn't even be noticed if added onto a game download, even if a good dozen songs were packaged with the game (an extra minute for dial-up users OH NOES). The other objection is usually that music is annoying, so there should be an option in the Preferences to turn it off. But it seems as though there's nothing particularly preventing Jeff from having music like this in his games, and not just in the intro screens.

  17. Quote: Originally written by Lenar: I would recommend against taking an experienced party into Lord Puditus, on the grounds that Kel's inventive scripting promptly permanently strips all of your spellcasing capabilities. No. After a few of the initial complaints, I released an update that gives the skills back again in the end. Still, you're supposed to play the scen with a default party. And it's Putidus. Bear in mind that some scenarios that are designed for HLPM parties.
  18. I am happy about the "They are in fewer sections" bit. Chitrachs are good in moderation. I am so there for beta testing if you have need. I'm excited about this game.
  19. I've made this suggestion elsewhere to no response, as far as I can tell, so here it is again: make the Windows and Mac dialogue font size the same, so that scenarios that were made on Windows with two full text boxes of dialogue in a node will display correctly on Macs, too. (See The Election for an example.)
