  1. I came here for an argument! YOU VACUOUS TOFFEE-NOSED MALODOROUS PERVERT!!! (Sorry. I just keep thinking of Monty Python every time I open this thread. I have nothing useful to contribute. I will walk away singing the "Spam" song in shame.)
  2. In some games, I thought you could buy them, and sometimes could buy herbs, too.
  3. They won the battle, but it's assumed that they continued forward on the assault and all died in the process (or something). This message is inevitable; you didn't do anything wrong.
  4. Why have your second fighter be fourth, rather than second? That seems unusual.
  5. Akhari Blaze, I understand that you're upset, but please try to express yourself appropriately. Saying that people should die painfully and horribly is inflammatory and unhelpful.
  6. My deepest sympathies. This must be an extraordinarily difficult time for you, and I wish you as much peace and comfort as you can have right now.

    I think it's just assumed.
  8. I thought it was some sort of hipster joke. EDIT: The typo, not a koan. But that works too.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! (If you prefer the audio.)
  10. We're going to need a bigger plane.
  11. Truly, the sea serpent debate rivals the grandeur and importance of Nephils v. Sliths.
  12. If I remember correctly, when I joined, the highest title came at 7500 posts. I have long since passed that mark of shame. Therefore, I should post no more, because I have already achieved the maximum level of spam.
  13. I managed to read the first one. It was pretty great. I was a big fan of Alyss when she showed up in the Grand Master series, if I remember correctly. Project Aon has most of the Lone Wolf material at this point, but the Legends of Lone Wolf series was written by someone else and isn't up, so you'd actually have to find the out-of-print books themselves, and that's hard. But man, Project Aon is great. I need to go back through those books at one point. I played through whatever they had up a few years ago, but they've posted nearly everything by now. Project Aon is up there with ScummVM as a "OH MY GOD THEY ACTUALLY DID THAT THAT'S SO AWESOME" kind of project.
  14. I finally got around to finishing this game. (Figured it was time to do that and get on to Avadon 2.) I ended up using all my skill points but none of the ingredients that could've made a ton of knowledge brews and stuff. Come to think of it, I never used my wisdom crystals or knowledge brews or knowledge elixirs, either. I had probably about 100 skill points (or more) out of consumables that I never used. I'm now a little confused about the ending. I never saw any options that would let me not work for Melanchion, but I gather from reading some threads here that there are some, and apparently the ending is different. I did two quests for him — against the Darkside Loyalists and the sliths — and finished all of Gladwell's quests. That ended up with a kind of stalemate. Is there some way to read ending variations? With everything else, I can just open up the scripts, but I think the endings may be coded outside the scripts, and I can't find them.
  15. Er, you struck a blow on Putidus and the roof was falling in? I think that's a losing ending, which means that the thing that caused the Unhandled Exception was a kill_char() call that was supposed to kill the entire party. That's odd. It's not obvious to me why that led to an Unhandled Exception. BoA's bugs are weird.
  16. I came across Avernum 1 some time before Avernum 2 came out. I think it was on some Mac shareware website somewhere.
  17. Crashed? I've not received reports of crashing at the end of LP. Do you have any further details as to what happened (when, at least)? (Though this presumably is of no consequence to you at this point: LP doesn't "reset" your stats at the start of the scenario. It transfers certain skills into others, since there's no magic in the scenario, but other skills are made more useful than they normally are. It then restores them at the end of the scenario. It appears the restore was prevented by some kind of crash.)
  18. Given what you've played, I'd probably recommend Geneforge 4 and Geneforge 5 to finish out the series, or Nethergate (original or remake) or Avadon for something new. If you only have time for one short game, play Avadon. It's short by Spidweb standards but very good. If you have time for one long game, play Geneforge 4. It's Geneforge-sized and equally good. I'm not a huge fan of the Second Avernum Trilogy. Avernum 4 was okay. Avernum 5 was a little better. Avernum 6 is pretty good, but skipping straight from 3 to 6 is a little jarring.
  19. This is how I initially read that. o_O Loading everything all at once would make a heck of a lot more sense. If you're starting to move in that direction, that'd be great. But trying to design a new editor from scratch is the quagmire to end all quagmires. Abandon all hope, ye who enter here!
  20. Also on 10.8, but I have a working copy of Alint. I'm not sure exactly how that happened, but if you look back through recent threads, I think you can find a download that will be helpful. I'm also using the Alint embedded in AScript, which may or may not make a difference.
  21. Wow, that looks pretty nice. Maybe when you get the code settled, a view like that could be glommed onto the most recent version of the 3D Editor, even if it's not editable from that view. It could be nice to be able to zoom out like that and see everything all at once.
  22. Takes one to know one, you unsellable trowel.
