  1. Yes, they are party skills. As are: Barter, Find Herbs, Pathfinder, and Vahnatai Lore.
  2. Wow, what a post! I don't know how you came to that conclusion, since none one mentioned it before you. Give your Tinkermage a healing item. You're right, since most players come to the conclusion that turrets exist to deal damage and take hits from enemies. You could try summoning them before clicking the combat icon. Or using blessings like haste or battle frenzy. Don't know what you mean. Maybe you tried them at a very low level and they can't hit? Try them after investing some more points. In order to strengthen your party. Do you not cast blessings? Curses? Or maybe you don't realize the strengths of the Tinkermage. It gets Tool Use, melee and ranged skills for little investment, and 2 turrets at a time, which you don't seem to have learned to appreciate yet. I would say play with your favorite characters, but don't dismiss a class that you haven't learned to use yet.
  3. In a party of: Tinkermage (turrets), Blademaster (tank), and Shaman (pet, healing) your caster has plenty of support to stay alive. A Shadowwalker is always good though.
  4. Just trying to list an example of an unlocked skill which does not change much in use from its base.
  5. The Razor Flinger clearly does more single-shot damage. You have to balance that with the higher fatigue cost and the lack of area attack. Summon Bolt Flinger, shift+D "rechargeme", Summon Razor Flinger. They are not upgrades, they are unlocked skills, and they vary in how you use them compared to their base. Some of the unlocked skills are higher damaging than their base skills, like Bolt vs Razor Flingers. I would use one versus trash and the other versus toughs, not one all the time. Many of the unlocked skills are alternatives - for example if you invest in Freezing Turret, then you gain a fire-damage turret to use when cold is less effective. Look at the alternatives for Sorceress: Fire, Energy, and Cold damage base skills, and the unlocks are Cold, Physical, and Fire skills. Whereas the Acid skill is more of the standard upgrade, giving more damage and aoe instead of cone. Most of the blessing and curse skills are not upgrades, but give different effects to provide the player with options.
  6. For the first game, and I'd recommend the Tinkermage for the second: lockpicking, two turret summons(!), and either turret versatility or ranged skills.
  7. I think this thread will continue to be bumped so it's no big deal. "Pet" is very commonly used in games for "summon". It's not accurate to compare to our conversational usage of the word.
  8. 1. Avadon certainly has some freedom in character build choices on Torment, and you can change your party during the game. I think starting on Torment is not a bad choice given what you say about how you play. There are a couple specific fights which are very difficult to win without certain conditions, you can find these on the forums. 2. Well, your companions gain experience with you; they are always the same level as you (unlike Avernum). If you completely ignore some of the companions for quite a while, then if there comes a time you which to use one, you will need to outfit them with equipment at that time. It may be easier to keep your companions up to date with equipment as you play than if you suddenly find yourself needing to use one (for a specific quest).
  9. And check the gamefaqs link on the front page of this forum.
  10. They are pretty well explained on the strategy central threads and in the walkthroughs. Are you sure that your spamming of the boards is necessary? There is a search feature you know.
  11. Also Earthshatter. And Blademaster's Berserk Leap, Blade Sweep, and Berserker Slash. Shadowwalker's Blade Whirlwind and Steel Tornado. Lastly, Sorceress has Icy Lance keyed to ranged weapon.
  12. It eventually appears. You can get the same result from using the retrain cheat and changing your End numbers and skills effecting hitpoints. The numbers reset to the correct amount when they get checked at some point.
  13. Did you try equipping the item, and then changing area or saving/reloading? Or getting hit to lose health and cast healing?
  14. That's never happened enough for me to arrange my party that way.
  15. Redbread! Laughing On Line. "Rouge" kills me though; the amount that error has spread on the internet.
  16. After which, we can only assume that some order will be restored. You do not seem familiar with the cycles of war and peace in human history...
  17. That "major reformation" is called the Rebellion.
  18. Between skill training and spell training there is no excess money.
  19. Also, none will benefit the turrents.

  21. I'm just suggesting that you follow usual troubleshooting procedure: try to replicate the problem in as many instances as you can, in this case using OpenGL or DirectX. I'm sure you can guess the importance of knowing whether it occurs both times or just one.
  22. You can simply replace the audio files yourself. Make a backup in case you want to revert.
