Well-Actually War Trall Delicious Vlish
Lets make a list of all the unique items in the game. I'll start. Shielding Knife. Found by disturbing the altar in the very first Goblin dungeon. Adds +6% to armor, does 4-8 damage, and has a value of 300 coins. Does good damage for a long time, and when the first bronze broadsword is found, the blade is still useful when given to your mage or your priest. Tenderfoot Thahd Ziggy
Heartsriker bow: buried in a hole on the left side of Rentar's last Fortress. Base Damage: 8-56 Value: 4,000 Weight:2.5 lbs. Special Effect: Lightning damage (not sure, there's a "zappy" graphic effect when it hits Takes a lot of Nature Lore and you can only use it for a short while, but nice nonetheless. Well-Actually War Trall Delicious Vlish
Damage? Stats? Special effects? That's kind of the whole point of the list. And which fortress?
Hatchling Cockatrice Mea Tulpa
Actually, I think location is the most important part, as all the stats and special effects are easily accessible in the script file. The Heartstriker, for example, does not do any special damage. It just has a nice sound effect.

This bow is the most powerful in the game, and makes a total of five special bows in the game that I know of. I have been listing item locations in my latest game. Not all items are unique, as there are several which exist in quantities of two or three, but they are rare and have special properties in general. My list is not complete, since I have not remembered to list all items received through quests, or some which I might have quickly sold before listing. Some also I might not have access to because my singlteon cannot open caches or dispel barriers. Here is what I have so far: Item Locations Girdle of Strength - reward for mine quest - Grindstone Ratskin Shawl - Swampwalker Hurkin - SE of Formello Swampwalker Leather - lizard pit - SE of Formello Ruby Breastplate - Giscard’ s house, upstairs - SW of Formello Armor Ring - Testing Shade (Test #2) - N of Formello
Tenderfoot Thahd Percinator
I don't know if this is allowed, but I forgot where I got it - Stunning Blade Base Damage 3-6 Value- 250 Also the Girdle of Strength I know it adds strength, but I am unsure how much. Magnificent Ornk Ephesos
Wow... I hadn't realized how many new items Jeff added in later betas... EDIT: Might as well add my favorite weapon: Radiant Soulblade (7 lbs, 5000 coins) - Armor: +8% - Shortsword - Base Damage 15-30 +2 Lethal Blow +2 Quick Action +3 Parry Found behind the dark portal in Dorikas' Lair (only after he escapes and the dark red block-things disappear... look for a box)

Hatchling Cockatrice Lilith
I'm pretty sure there are at least two Charmed Plates in the game. I can't recall offhand where the other is, although I believe it was toward the endgame -- possibly the Darkside Loyalist base under Erika's Tower. There are two pairs of Putrified Gauntlets in the game as well; Rone's apprentice gives you one for killing the shades. I preferred the Answering Gauntlets, but they're pretty nice all the same. The Eyebeast Chitin, unless my memory fails me, is dropped by an eyebeast in the tunnels leading to Rentar's final fort. You can't really miss it; there's a whole pack of giants to fight at the same time. And of course, our old friend the Emerald Chestguard is on a corpse in Nociduas's lair, which is itself behind a secret passage in the northwest area of the Slith caves to the west of Fort Dranlon. Since nobody has posted the link in this thread yet, I'll direct interested parties to Slartucker's item stats list here .
Magnificent Ornk Student of Trinity
I don't remember getting Mercuric Leather from Swamplouse; but maybe I sold it. I did definitely just get it from Nociduas. Did someone mention the Pearlescent Band you get from the Cotra Eyebeast?
Hatchling Cockatrice Lilith
There are at least two Pearlescent Bands in the game as well. Unfortunately, I don't remember where the other is. Then again, this is turning into more of a "really neat items" topic than a "unique items" topic anyway.
Well-Actually War Trall Synergy
Someone around the Castle area of the Great Cave sells a Pearlescent Band. Seasoned Roamer Duality
Acutally, there are two incantors rings, once if found in a crypt (I have no idea where I found it though, south of the castle I think) guarded by a golem
Magnificent Ornk Ephesos
Yeah, the Incantor's Rings are great. The one Duality was talking about is found on the Southeastern Road, and on the lower level of it. The section is just south of the Honeycomb, I believe. Hm... didn't find that Sniper's Vest until the second time through... I think I just forgot to help Oliver.
Seasoned Roamer Duality
Actually, a bunch of those aren't unique, there are at least 4 woven silk robes in the game, grounded cloak also appears multiple times. The item shop sw of for Saffron gives a ruby amulet as a reward. You posted shielding knife twice There are multiple armor rings as well, and at least two girdles of genius (some both my mage and my priest are wearing one, but who knows where I got them) Since you can make as many blessed breastplates as you have ingrediants, I wouldn't consider them unique either. Anyone know if there are multiple mercuric leathers? I know I found a mercuric chain somewhere as well. And Ginth? the bandit has a frozen sword, which I believe is unique, but slightly better then the flame sword.
Hatchling Cockatrice Alorael at Large
There is a Mercuric Plate as well, and there are two of one of them. I think it was leather. There are two Shielding Knives. I haven't kept track of where I found things, but I've got a pair of them from somewhere. —Alorael, who would prefer to think of this as a list of items of interest rather than unique items. Well-Actually War Trall Synergy
They are easy to miss. Even in my last game, I forgot to visit them when I was in the area and had to go back later. To get there, look for a chitrach-infested tunnel just a bit NW of the Castle. You'll find the slith lands through some passages off to the NE when you pop back out. It's the area along the water a way north of the Castle, just like in previous Avernum games, but there is no main ground level way to get there now without boats. Well-Actually War Trall Synergy
Jeff seems to take perverse pleasure in presenting us with at least a couple of ugly moral dilemmas in each game. The player is rewarded only when taking the low road: theft, killing friendly spiders, etc. This disturbs me every time I do it, even if it is "just a game". I feel like I'm generating bad karmic energy on principle or something.
Kyshakk Koan Lattan
Eh, I thought killing the cerebral worm was far worse than some aranea and giant spiders. The spiders are never friendly anywhere else, the cerebrous worm doesn't even exist anywhere else. Or the bounty hunter missions. Those were bad too. I believe on the second playthrough I'll become moral; the first time my goal is simply to complete every quest.

Hatchling Cockatrice Lilith
Not much point killing Starrus, seeing as how doing so is fatal and all. On the subject of dubious ways of earning treasure, there's the mage in the mines near Dharmon, whose claim you can jump to get a Wisdom Crystal (and a few other valuable crystals). Out of every single powerful mage, priest, military leader or mayor, the best I got was a waveblade and some fine razordisks from Ghall-Ihrno. Most had nothing at all, a few had coins or basic items, General Marapova had a broadsword and armor (both poor quality, of course), and that commander at Fort Emerald had a sword. It's not even that challenging to murder everyone in Avernum; just make sure to save Starrus for last. Now if you kill someone you get a bronze broadsword, if anything at all.
