  1. I was really hoping for a stone circle type event with the testing chambers. Noone at the castle seemed to care about them and I loved how in E3 you were stoped behind the Keep of Tinraya(spelling?) if you complete all the circles, and had to fight the Hakkai before moving on. Oh well...the stone circle outside of Rentars final fortress certainly gave me a startle for a moment.
  2. There is more gremlin wine in the game then one could ever imagine drinking. Its totally possible to find enough wine to sate the gremlin's palate, it only takes 4 bottles
  3. You found the heavy book so you know how to decipher the scrolls, then go back to fort monastery and talk to Lark.
  4. As someone who finished A4 today, I would hope my post isn't too biased. A4 has going for it a continuity of the Avernum storyline, past with our classic Exile games have to offer us. I really enjoyed it, as the storyline was fun. I think I maximized almost all of the sidequests and goodies in a single run through it and had a lot of fun doing so (save at least 13 fine leathers. You'll thank me later). Blades of Exile is a little different. It has the definate(I know I spelled that wrong) non-continuity going for it, but with that has differnt people (queue Stareye[sp?]) going with challenging, high level scenarios that really make you think how to defeat different situations. They aren't always easy, contrary to A4s (we're going to give you stuff and you have to figure it out) its more of the "there is unknown and you have to go from there" in some scenarios. I really think it is unfair to compare the two, since they are both made to supplant two distinct interests. BoA is a remake of BoE, with an editor and what not (I'll never forget running around with a lvl 45 part in BoE demolishing things). A4 is a continuation of the Avernum/Exile storyline. I had alot of fun with both, and have spent the better part of my winter break on A4. I'd like to apologize if this seems to be a long winded post, but its my honest opinion. Comparing the two games straight across is really unfair as there is no real yes or no on either two games.
  5. Wow...someone is going to appreciate that immensely. Mabye this should go into the header.
  6. Guess only 6 tests...I was really dissapointed in the Abyss test, it was really easy compared to some of the others.
  7. Thanks for the input guys. I've made it through the test in the Abyss with the broken language, and it doesn't say were the next circle is. I thought that I had found it, but can't remember where the devil the place was.
  8. I've made my way up to the 4th testing chamber, SW of Almaria and have no idea how to succeed the test. The Golems seem indestructible, yet the test is a 'test of command'. I've located most of the other testing chambers, but can't get past this one. Can someone give me some advice on it?
  9. Look towards the farmhouses to the west of Baghra, as Crewl tells you.
  10. Avengers Ring - Slith Chieften - Savage Slith Lands north of the Castle (fruit grove NW of tower) Charmed Plate - Slith Chieften - Savage Slith Lands north of the Castle (fruit grove NW of tower)
  11. Do containers not lose items over time?
  12. Cryos Spear - Crazed Bugmaster underneath fruitfarm in Great Cave
  13. The Honeycomb is really quite convuluted. Spoiler You can find sleater quite readily by following the upper path from Mertis, going down the right chamber full of undead, going up from that chamber. In the next screen, just northwest of where you should be, there is a down staircase. From there, it is a straight forward up-and-down to get to Sleater. Its really about keeping the connection between the maps in your head. There is no easy way to describe it.
  14. I'm stuck on the sidequest involving the farmer Giscard, outside of Formello, and his Gremlin issue. I think I looted his house of wine and sold it earlier in the game before getting the sidequest, and now all I've got are three bottles of gremlin wine (two from the storeroom attic and one from the wine merchant east of formello). How many bottles of gremlin wine does it take to sedate the invader and where else is gremlin wine found?
  15. I copied my game from v1.1.1 and it ran just fine in v1.0.1. It worked without any fuss.
  16. Powermac 7600 mobo, G4 400mhz, voodoo3/4/5[not sure]. Anyhow, I played for the past 2 hours with not lockups, and I did not change the memory settings. This is really really weird.
  17. I am not running X, and I am connected to the internet while playing. This problem occurs in v1.0.1 as well. I've got the ram, so I guess I'll try that approach. BTW this is the demo.
  18. I am running Avernum 3 v1.1.1 on MacOS 9.1. I am experiencing lockups every 15-30 minutes, in which I have to force reboot the machine. This is driving me crazy! Are there any solutions to this; or is this a new problem?
