  1. Welcome to the forums. Abandon sanity, all ye who post here.

Greta & Alwan don't automatically level up along with you, if that's what you're asking. You can get them better equiped by talking to several people that you encounter far enough along in the story, but they'll still be weaker than if you haul them along everywhere leveling up first. I don't know how easily a solo combat agent will get through the game (mechanics & leadership make things much less difficult), but it is possible. Good luck!

  2. But without towns, where would my post-game party raze, pillage and massacre?

But seriously, why are you playing a game with a deep involved story like SW's if you hate text?

  3. I would think that it is perhaps more realistic that long range shots don't hit every single time ever. Also, like it was said before, this makes it possible to evade enemy attacks more easily. Eventually, after you hit a certain point, your attacks will really start to miss less and less until you hardly ever get bothered by missing attacks all the time ever again.

Long range shots miss sometimes, it happens, it makes sense. But what really bothers me is AoE spells now being evadable. How the heck does a zombie stumbling slowly towards you manage to dodge a freaking wall of fire? Or an an earthquake?

Non-closing doors also irritated my kleptomaniac party, but by far the worst development, both in this and other recent games, is the not being able to see how much health the enemy has. In the second Avernum trilogy and the Geneforge games you could right click an enemy to see how strong it was and how much hp it had left. You could click an ally to see if they could take a hit or three and be impressed by faction leader's 2k plus health. You could click your OWN PARTY members to bask in the wonderful sight of a vast amount of hit points gained via arduous leveling up.

    All gone. :(

    Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyy?????

    *huff puff*

Ok, rant over. Just had to get it off my chest.

I've turned really spammy, I guess I should stop posting by now...

Spam where no man has spammed before!

. . .which would not be here.

The universe will end when the amout of spam slowly building up in the dark reaches of the internet reaches critical mass and collapses in on itself, forming a black hole that destroys reality as we know it.

  5. Interesting, but it doesn't seem feasible to me that every single person who had even the faintest knowlege of shaping all mutated themselves into the same emanciated gray bobblehead and hid underground, opening the way for the highly magical but completely non-shaping Empire to conquer the entire planet.

Also, since apparently every naturally evolved creature in the Geneforge series has been outcompeted by a Shaped creature, everything in Avernum would have to decend from one of the Geneforge creation types. Specifically the dragons, who as giant intelligent magic-using reptiles that breathe fire, must be decended from drakons. This would mean that even though the drakons/dragons never abandoned the surface (until fleeing the Empire), and lost none of their power or intellgence, they somehow completely forgot how to use any form of shaping. Seems pretty unlikely.

  6. If you have experience (or are really naturally talented at) making music videos, try using a song by Blue Stahli.

Geneforge and Avernum are both good, but I would recommend using the newer games, as they have graphics that better lend themselves to an MV.

  7. I seem to be halfway between MMXPERT and Sylae. I use the same basic string of nonsense letters & numbers as a start, and then add on specific characters based on the site I'm making the password for. This doesn't extend to my bank passwords though. Those are completely unique.

    Nalyd,

You have so little money that you're completely indifferent to someone stealing it, and ruining your credit as well?

  8. COMBAT:

-Seph(lowered energy, high health):Cast Icy Rain. vs Mutant Clawbug (medium health) & as many others as possible.

-Fyora: Ranged attack vs. Mutant Clawbug (medium health) or other if already dead.

-PR-V6.5 :Ranged attack vs. Mutant Clawbug(Full Health)

-Thahd (low health!):Melee attack vs. Mutant Clawbug (frozen, poisoned, acid'd, medium health)

    . . . It's spelled "Thahd". No G involved.

I'm pretty sure that the caps are soft rather than hard, and for the ones with hard caps, you'll probably never reach them. Of course, I might be wrong since I haven't played the newest games, but this is the case for the early Avernum and Geneforge games.

Avadon has a hard cap at lvl 30, which you reach significantly before the end of the game. It's very irritating.

And houses would be great to have, I really liked having quarters for my character in Avadon.
