  1. It does work in practice. Placed special for enacting this move to new town must be marked by a unique floor or terrain type. In the town concerned the floor/terrain must only occur where the given placed special occurs. (Or you could use a unique location that is easy to describe.) Here is a specimen item: begindefineitem 471; clear; it_name = "Crystal"; it_full_name = "Teleport Crystal"; it_variety = 21; it_floor_which_sheet = 1017; it_floor_which_icon = 9; it_inventory_icon = 8; it_ability_1 = 207; it_ability_str_1 = 30; it_value = 50; it_weight = 5; it_magic = 1; A specimen scenario state: beginstate 30; set_flag(200,0,50); print_str_color("Now go walk onto the purple carpet.",2); break; (The purple carpet covers the area of the placed special.) The placed special from the town script: beginstate 16; if (get_flag(200,0) == 0) { block_entry(1); end(); } move_to_new_town (13,17,17); break;
  2. Try manually setting the spellcasting skill: cr_what_stat_adjust 0 = 11; cr_amount_stat_adjust 0 = 11; This may or may not work.
  3. You could have them use the item and then walk onto a placed special. Have the item set a sdf by calling a state in the scenario script. If the flag is not set the special ends immediately, otherwise the move to new town happens. I don't know if this works in practice or not.
  4. Try Jewels' TrueSite for Blades, the link to this site is found at the main page for this sub-forum.
  5. Most fights are okay when the front two PCs wear chain mail. A few special fights seem to require the wearing of plate mail so the PCs can survive the mega-damage they receive.
  6. A couple of side quests featuring undead who turn hostile after dialog with you (and tear your lead PC to pieces). One encounter, I had the lead PC protected by an Invulnerability Elixir before combat. In the other encounter I simply used War Blessing beforehand.
  7. I did the quest again and it actually worked... Apart from the issues I raised, the scenario is working quite well. Edit: Slith town, front PC was always killed in the first round of combat. Village of Sensitives is hostile?!
  8. Repairing the Bridge quest was not cleared, recorded as completed?! Did the cut-scene cut out? I will need to check this.
  9. Looks very good, Kel has gone to great trouble to create a new atmosphere for this scenario. Fight in the Large Rock would be beyond anyone who is new to BoA, it is tough and easily wipes out the whole party.
  10. When standing next to Erika, click the Get button. When out back, make frequent use of the Far Sight spell.
  11. Glad to see your computer is working again. In Avernum 1, frequently an impenetrable door had a secret door nearby. You did not get Unlock Doors level 3 for some time. In Avernum 3 this may not hold true, Slime Pits level 1 door is an example of this not being true. In A3 it would be more of a last resort.
  12. It is not something you can handle by lesser methods? I defragment my drive on a weekly basis. I also use Easy Cleaner to check for invalid registry entries and unnecessary files. Once a day, I shut down all programs and Shut Down my computer.
  13. You missed a few areas with routine treasures, also a level 3 spell. Gukhbar's Pit, Wolf Pit in Upper Avernum, Below Agate Tower.
  14. You won't get the Ritual of Sanctification for some time. You will happen to learn about it as part of a major mission. Five level 3 Priest spells are given as part of totally one-shot encounters. Mercifully, three can also be found elsewhere. War Blessing is the problem case. Every PC who wants it should have it before they hit the second one-shot. You will know this is about to happen.
  15. I think A3 is based upon you having Far Sight because you can get it at level 2 (legitimately) after only a few minutes of game play, if you know what to do. You can also gain Move Mountains at level 2 at the same time.
  16. There are only four versions of Krizsan found in Town.dat, I was able to decrypt it. People keep telling you to go to Shayder, when you get there you will understand why they do this.
  17. There are four separate versions of Krizsan, each more damaged than the last. You seem to have the second of the four? The last two versions come into being if you take too long to solve the slime plague.
  18. I went too close to Erika's Tower fairly soon after the start of the game. Party was too low-level to survive the encounters we hit, said encounters blocked any retreat back to Fort Emergence. I had to use the Character Editor to get safely back to the Fort.
  19. Ritual of Sanctification is another thing that is not available for some time... In the Character Editor, the Gold limit is 15,000. That is a good as guess as any for the game's coin limit. You missed a few areas with some minor treasures. Game may be based upon you getting Far Sight fairly soon. Two spellbooks in Fort Emergence are not immediately accessible, but become so soon enough.
  20. In the first part of the game you will sometimes find your way blocked by the lack of level 3 exploration spells like Unlock Door and Move Mountains. Ditto lack of any form of Dispel Barrier. Even in fairly basic, low-level dungeons this will be a problem. When you get the spells you need you will need to go back to the dungeons concerned and clear the obstacles away. To figure out which dungeons you need to return to, you will need to keep notes or use your Journal to record messages from the dungeons concerned. (Said messages will not be related to lack of spells, they will just be general messages on other topics.)
  21. Spell prices can vary a lot, I made screengrabs for each spell shop so I could compare prices.
  22. A3 feature: "+" items, these are ordinary items that have been given extra power by the addition of a magical ability. Item may or may not be relevant but you never know until you check its information screen... Read every book you can find, a few will contain spells. You missed two spellbooks in Fort Emergence, they were shown in the walkthrough part of the A3 Manual. Your Let's Play philosophy seems to be playing it as you do it and not following any walkthroughs.
  23. "UNDER GOAGH-NAR 2: It's probably best to take Bendbones out. Go unlock the door, and kill him. Then pillage his chest. Don't go up the stairs yet, instead go to the east and search for a secret passage N. Kill the sprites, then go to the room. Search for secret passages, light the fire, kill the sprites, and repeat twice. Then go up the stairs, and claim Fomorslayer. It does extra damage against Fomorians." Here the stairs are stairs that lead up to a place with a different height but are still in the same dungeon. They are not stairs that go between one level of Goagh Nar and another.
  24. Third reward, level 3 Shielding spell. Occurring in the Tower of Magi you could guess as much. If you want to get the spell, special item 27 is the Black Drake Fang. In the Character Editor find the Add Special Item function in the Advanced Features menu. First number is 27, second number will be 1. Here is the list of where you find the spells at level 3: Bolt of Fire, Aranea Web Light, Upper Lizard Lair Call Beast, Crone Cavern, needs Vahnatai Lore Bind Foe, Patrick's Tower SW, Julz, Borgia Toadstools quest. Haste, Patrick's Tower SW, Julz, Borgia Toadstools quest. Slow, Patrick's Tower, RR of 26, Magi Clearance, (artifact quest.) Ice Lances, Tower of Solberg, Royal Clearance Unlock Doors, Erika's Tower, needs Blessed Athame Create Illusions, Athron's Lair Far Sight, Formello, needs the Deciphering Lens Lightning Spray, Tower of Elderan, L4 Capture Soul, Crystal Shrine, Wilvron Bok, after returning a Crystal Soul Simulacrum, Crystal Shrine, Wilvron Bok, after returning a Crystal Soul Dispel Barrier, Barrier Tower Summon Aid, Tomb of Demonslayer Beast Ceremony, Trapped Halls of Sixus Fireblast, Ornotha Ziggurat, L2 Arcane Summon, Olgai, after returning all three Crystal Souls. Arcane Shield, Tower of Magi, after destroying the Portal. Arcane Blow, The Castle, after defeating Garzahd Healing, Almaria, Hmurr's Inn Curing, Tower of Magi, after Suzanne's Fire Lizard Egg quest Battle Rage, Tower of Magi, after Kelner's Serpent Cult quest Shielding, Tower of Magi, after Vincent's Black Drake Fang quest Repel Spirit, Serpent Cult, needs Blessed Athame. Smite, Cotra Ruins Summon Shade, Pyrog's Cave, needs Vahnatai Lore Safe Travel, Cave of Motrax, Magi Clearance, four Piercing Crystals! Unshackle Mind, Dharmon, Magi Sanctum Move Mountains, Crystal Shrine, Wilvron Bok, after returning a Crystal Soul Mass Healing, Cave of Motrax, (Magi Clearance). Mass Curing, Empire Archives, Level 2 Sanctuary, Gnass, Pathass, after Slith Charm quest Divine Fire, Dark Tunnel, needs Vahnatai Lore Control Foes, Empire Archives, Level 2 Cloud of Blades, Ruined Town, needs Vahnatai Lore Return Life, Giant's Cave, (Town 104) Divine Warrior, Olgai, after returning all three Crystal Souls. Divine Restoration, Tower of Magi, after destroying the Portal. Divine Host, The Castle, after defeating Garzahd Level 2 Spells (Crone Caverns: Ice Lances, Far Sight) Out Zone 3, Northern Islands: Dispel Barrier Out Zone 20, Central Avernum: Return Life, Divine Restoration Deciphering Lens is easily obtained once party returns to Avernum, hence I don't bother to record it for areas that can't be accessed before the return. Slow, Patrick's Tower, Rune Reading of 26, Magi Clearance, (Vahnatai artifact quest.)
  25. Back to post #10, I give fighters one level in Mage spells at creation. Then I later increase it to three levels because they can cast level 3 Haste soon enough. During a combat, fighters usually won't achieve much in their first move but they can haste the whole party.
