  1. Try Compatibility Mode, it is accessed by right-clicking the Editor program, while in Windows Explorer. OBoE is probably too recent to benefit from DosBox, a program that creates a virtual Windows installation and runs much older games.
  2. Artifacts typically exist to be collected, that is A6.
  3. Part 34 only had a maximum Quality of 360p, the video is blurry at this quality. Quality needs to be at least 480, certainly on my PC.
  4. Sounds like the Windows problem where you don't install programs into C:\Program Files...
  5. A link to Ascript might be handy, I can't find one. Problem seems to be in Alint. Ask yourself what command-line functions might you be using in Alint, see if they are all still there. Mac users will need to see what versions of OS will run Mac Alint.
  6. Windows has a Compatibility Mode that enables a new PC to run programs made with much older versions of Windows. I know nothing about using a Mac, never done it in my life. Windows has dropped a few commands from the Command Prompt over the years. This might be the same story with Alint. It is not often that I hear of this sort of problem from a Mac user!
  7. The Blessed Athame is an example of how A6 differs from previous Avernum games, you go to great trouble to get an artifact then you don't use it. Instead you hand it over for storage. This won't be the last time it happens.
  8. Just try walking through the door and see if that helps. If it leads to a nasty fight see if you can find the Keeper.
  9. I understand that Gladwell wants to break the seals that contain the undead of the Undead Spiral. He is totally out for himself and has no loyalty to Avernum at all.
  10. If you take all three quests at once, when you complete two and then go on to the next quest triplet, I suspect that you can go back and complete the third still-unfinished quest. But I don't know that for sure.
  11. I drew up a template, collection of maps in the form of a Blades of Avernum scenario. It will require the BoA game and one of the versions of the Editor. Game need not be registered, you can't properly play the scenario. Don't download the template unless you are stuck, it has all the maps in together, you may find yourself spoiling the surprise by looking at the maps too much.
  12. If you are stuck because of closed gates you can find buttons to open them. Make a screen capture with Alt+Print Screen and paste it into Paint, add notes about what each button does. Piercing Sight may find one secret door.
  13. Meryhew offers quests in groups of three, accept all three quests at once. When party has completed two quests she goes onto the next batch. Koepp will be part of a quest, remember his location.
  14. That escaped lizard the merchant wants you to retrieve is not wandering around outdoors, it is hiding in a cave somewhere. You probably won't find it for a while.
  15. Food is a major theme of A6, as is a town you can't enter without the relevant orders. In time the orders will come, when you are trying to enter a given town. (Fort Emerald has guards at its gates but there is no real town behind the town walls.) Magic spells are learned fairly slowly too.
  16. Many people are probably watching Let's Plays of the newer games, like the Avadon trilogy or the two new Avernum remakes. Personally, I am doing several things at once so I am not paying attention to Spiderweb games as much.
  17. Run! Sanctuary limits the damage they can do but you must keep casting it whenever it runs out. Mass Healing fixes the damage they do. I switch my front two PCs to be the back two places so the best armored guys are at the back.
  18. Make sure on YouTube settings you have the quality, "p", around 480.
  19. You need to find a Special Item that will fit the hole in the back.
  20. I forget where you get this quest, it seems to be a job board quest. Go back to the Arachnid ruins and check that you have looted and killed everything.
  21. Is a given area a dead end or is it a possibly interesting part of an unexplored area? For a quick peek at such an area you can alter av4floorster.txt. for "fl_blockage_type1 = #;" (where # is not zero) change it to read: fl_blockage_type1 = 0; Ditto with "tr_blockage_type1 = #;". Rename av4floorster.txt to av4floorsteraa.txt. Then save the altered version of av4floorster.txt as av4floorster.txt. To resume normal playing go into Windows Explorer, or whatever, and rename the altered av4floorster.txt to av4floorsterbb.txt. Then rename the original av4floorsteraa.txt back to av4floorster.txt. Quit the game then restart it.
  22. The game *should* end soon. A6 can end before you have done all the quests and exploration. A4 has 168 zones but an eighth of them have a null zone script hence not much is happening in those zones.
  23. I reserve the eighteenth slot for a special save, one used before I go into an unknown dungeon. If entering the dungeon turns out to be a fatally bad idea, I might learn this only after using the Quick Save a few times.
  24. You can play and win A2 without dual-wielding. One front-rank PC has a sword, the other has a pole-arm. Ditto, A1 can be played with the same make-up, don't know about the assassination of Hawthorne, I did not finish that.
