  1. I believe not. But you can change the color of your helmet.
  2. I read Crazy in Alhabama, Until I Find You, Into the Wild and Plowing the Dark during my summer vacation.

(Presumably the Darkside Loyalists get in on the fun as well.) I have no trouble with people still following Rentar, as long as their role is no more prominent than the Mad Monks' from Exile/Avernum 3. But it's a pretty safe bet to assume, that the Vahnatai are fed up with humans and the lot intruding on their homeland and farming their mushroom. From all we've seen in Avernum 5 the caves just aren't big enough for everybody. It's gonna be so much fun - I just know it.

  5. Have you tried installing/running the game in legacy/compatibility mode?
  6. That is, by all means, a fair review. As far as visuals are concerned: I still enjoy giving the old Star Wars a beating or two on MacMame (even though the controls suck grossly). And I like Backgammon a lot despite its dated graphics.

Joe, if there is one thing I can assure you of, it's that there is no prescribed way to get through the game. As a matter of fact, Jeff encourages beta testers to stumble their way through on a less than optimal build, which some of us usually do. It helps balancing the game for casual gamers. There are, however, a couple of encounters that a casual group will have a hard time winning. But you definietly can make it through the game with an almost tourist-like combo. If all else fails, follow Alorael's advice and use cheats to break through a frustrating situation.
  8. You do seem to have a browser, though. What's not working?
  9. Great. Entire quadrants of impassable terrain, due to stalagtite downfall. Coul make for a nice, stage-like setting, though. The party's PCs tearing each other apart in maddening fits of claustrophobia. I just don't see how single torment will work out.

  11. Dera Reaches. Great dungeons, interesting battles, good loot and Loonie Taygen.
  12. There's usually another way leading there. Sometimes it involves boat travel and/or a kind of roundabout route. PS: Sometimes it's just wicked game design.

  14. I had heaps of fun playing this, thanks *i. Time delay, again, was a crucial factor, as I had given the Box of Traps to Creator in order to have me protected. Unfortunately, Creator was asleep at the time, or the game would have ended on a lsightly happier note for the Anama. The new item list looks intriguing. If you'll have me, I'd like to play again. Edit: I think the problem might not have mattered so much if the forums wouldn't have gone down for more than a day (for me anyways). Still, great game.

  16. The 'dated graphics' argument is getting odder every time I read it. It's a bit like complaining about the Settlers of Cataan, that the figurines don't move and the villages don't grow into cities by themselves. Point and click is really something people ought to have mastered by now (Diablo anyone?).
  17. Dying is a huge experience by itself.

  19. First you might want to uninstall and redownload. Other than that, you might want to provide a couple more details (system configuration etc.). Oh, and this is tech-thread stuff. Just telling, no blaming.
  20. Sorceress with as many War Tralls as possible.
  21. Now that you mention it - I didn't get a newsletter either. As for a new game: Jeff has said he was going to do something new, after Avernum 6. So we're probably looking at next year. Welcome to the boards.

I just don't understand your point.
  23. May I refer you to this thread, please.
