  1. With 12 tool use boosted to 15 with tinker's gloves and bauble I can get through all the traps now. Pity I only get 1 experience point each for the effort. Add in the incantor's ring and enchanter's robe my mage spell level is then 11 and I get 2 more for spellcraft. I can't use the clarity talisman with the tinker's bauble. This lets me open locked doors up to 35. Doesn't help with the last spellbook in the castle since my arcane lore is only 12. I still need to raise that for the last spellbooks in the game. Having fun blasting pylons. At over 300 spell points, I can get from 2 to 5 pylons a trip depending onn what else is in the area. A few more hours will clear everything up to the Basalt Fortress. I must have missed the post about the eyebeast creature guarding the main bridge up the center. That will probably take a few tries. I really hate when I get terrified. To get demonslayer I had to use items and intelligence to 66% mental resistance and add in mindshield to have a chance.

  3. Abisynthe is found by going from Almaria south along the river until you find a way underground. There are 2 entrances in the map section along the south wall. Don't forget to fight the icy crystalmists that are part of that cave. They have 2 wisdom crystals (one is cached). Randolph Halfbreed is 2 map sections west of Abisyhthe in a underground complex that is guarded by a nephil warrior with 2 terror wolves. It can also be reached from the Blosk refugee camp from one of the building that hold the bandit Lott.
  4. Explore to the north of the shade and move west going counterclockwise. Visit the job board. You don't need to get close to the shade or see anyone in the upper town level until after you visit the Castle.
  5. Start at the NW corner on the outside of Cotra.
  6. Second building west of Cotra's west gate along the water.
  7. Check you preferences folder for the preferences for each Spiderweb game. You need this so the game knows that you are registered.
  8. Not a literary reference, but popular culture. Test number 5 near Fort Remote. You are the Weakest Link in the test for unity. For the record my singleton is not antisocial. He just doesn't need a others sucking up experience and money. If he needs friends he can always summon some up.
  9. This isn't counting equipment. I've got all three, tinker's gloves and bauble for tool use, and a bunch of other neat stuff that I switch to help out in certain occasions. That was base stats from using skill points and buying training. I'm just giving people an idea about what a singleton will look like at different stages so they can plan how to spend the money and points.

  11. Singleton in Torment Well I finally had enough time to run my Nephil PS DT through the Great Cave and adjacent areas. I'm now going through the tunnels west of Fort Remote. I reached level 38 and have used 23 wisdom crystals/knowledge brews. Missed 2 crystals because I haven't found a fine waveblade for Grall-Ihnro's quest. Haven't used the 5 crystals/brews that are marked NY. I'll save sangging those for later. At this point I've got a strength 4, dexterity 8, intelligence 6, endurance 8, melee weapons 2, bow 10, thrown weapons 10, quick action 2, mage 9, priest 14, arcane lore 12 (I want spells), spellcraft 2, hardiness 3, defense 5, tool use 12, nature lore 3, first aid 3, luck 5, quickstrike 2, blademaster 10, gymnastics 4, magery 13, resistance 2, magical efficeincy 8, and sharpshooter 12. I found that pylons are worth 9 to 10 experience at level 25 and drop to 4 for level 38. Oh well, at least the provide nice treasure. Next post will be after the Basalt Fortress and the shades. I'll have enough to get another priest spell level and divine retribution.

  15. Linda is supposed to have reformed and learned from her errors. Wait until A3/E3 to see how that turns out.
  16. While 4 coins is the cutoff, some items stack to exceed that. Food, red lanterns stack 3 coins per 4, thread stacks for 5 coins per 4 spools, etc. Otherwise they just occupy space and get grabbed by accident.
  17. If you are running a singleton, then buying skills helps save skill points. For a normal game you need the cash for high skill point skills and spells.
  18. To deal with fire, energy, and cold attacks it helps to cast prismatic shield. Try to have the right defensive items like rings and necklaces. I found that high endurance, around 6 to 8, will reduce most poison and acid attacks so you only get really hurt on the attack and not in the later rounds. I tried a high hardiness singleton and the damage reduction was nice, but not getting hit from high dexterity and defense still is better. Even a little parry helps out.
  19. There also pipes in the mines south of Dharmon. The mortar and pedestal are available in the Darkside Lair near Fort Saffron along with towels. Or grab a towel south of Blosk on the road.
  20. Natural mage is useful for the armor allowed penalty going from 5% to 20%. This means that a mage can use more different armors and combinations. The real benefit for having one character with natural mage is that Terror is more likely to work. This seems to extend to even items like the Terror wand. The cost to train up in mage spells is higher than priest, so you can use Natural Mage with tool use and train up as a priest for extra spells.

  22. Move the cursor over the little pile of coins (4 interlocking silver circles) in the lower left corner of the item you want to sell and click. Be precise or it will try to move the item instead. The upper left corner is the selling price and the lower right is the quantity. The item name and value appears below the inventory. If you are selling a stack of more than one item in an inventory square, a box will appear asking how many. Some items like food sell in certain quantities without you losing a fractional coin. Food is sold in even amounts.
  23. Didn't you read the instruction warning? It says don't kill dragons until you get what you need from them. Except for Pyrog, since he needs to be whacked to finish the game. The others are optional to see their treasures.
  24. Save it for the last encounter in the demo for that section and go in prepared. With hastes and waching that no one goes down it is possible and worth a little more experience. The downside is that you can't enter the tower until much later. Still if you register you won't have to fight them later. When you get the message about being watched go to fight mode. Haste and bless your party, then advance one fighter to trigger the trap. This gives you a real chance.
  25. According to Jeff, you need tool use of 5 to complete the game. There are supposed to be some traps that will bring in more monsters. Good luck.
