  1. Most of those quests don't make a difference. They are there to give you a sense of morality and might make you feel good if you are doing what you think is morally right. Or it might make you disgusted at the corrupt society. There are some that you might do because they give better rewards, but you don't know that until you've play through a few times or look in Strategy Central to see what other players have posted as the results.

Personally I'm disgusted not with getting bribed, but at how cheaply they know they can get away with it.

Crimes in general don't affect yer ending. The main determination is what you do at the very end of the game. Some things you so like the Hands quest will decide whether they help you at the end.

There is no definite answer on what series to play next. It depends upon what type of games you like since they have different gam play style. Queen's Wish is the newest series and Avadon was the next. Avernum and Geneforge are much older and are getting remakes to update the games to newer computers and add content.

If you look around there still might be topics discussing how the game worlds are related to each other. To long to discuss. :)

Welcome to Spiderweb Software. Please leave your sanity at the door. Beta testers will need donations since Geneforge 2 -The Infestation (remake) is starting soon. :)

  2. There's at least one essence pool available in Crag Valley. Essence pods should be saved for combat replacements of creations so you don't lose damage you've done if you have to break off a fight.

At this point th e problem is you start having more areas with high heath and damaging Sholai and serviles. You really need to specialize in a single creation group to keep up with them in damage.

    Good luck!

  3. The Slith Key is in the southwest corner of the lower level and not a item that transfers when you kill him. Keep searching.

I haven't played this game since it came out so I don't remember the details. It is probably inside a container.

  4. 2 minutes ago, Enobarbus World said:

in a surprise throwback, the stalkthorn is going to use the A4 chitrach graphic

Not going to happen because Jeff is tired of rescaling graphics from previous games. Instead he will use the infamous invisible graphic so you can't see where they are without moving the cursor over every tile until one lights up with an outline of a rectangle.

  5. If I remember correctly, that special event is a blocked stairs down to the lower level. I don't remember how to access it if there isn't a secret door for the path. I don't think I have a saved game for that area to verify.

I do remember you needed Move Mountains at level 3 to reach some other places for more loot. The idea being you have to get that before you ever do this area. I did it once just to see what I missed and it wasn't worth doing it. Although this area is easier since you are at a much higher level.

    Good luck.

  6. You have to initiate conversation with the serviles in Vakkiri, so you could just go through and fight in another zone util you are strong enough to fight the guards.

I don't know if you will be strong enough to head north and reach the abandoned school, but you should be able to do Watchhill.

Slarty said it doesn't count unless you can do it on torment difficulty. Of course that was on advice for Geneforge 3. :)

  7. Okay, I tried this on torment and the best I did was killing one weaker servile at Vakkiri. Having a maxed out fyora and a weaker one doesn't damage the guards that quickly. Even in the early fyora fights you are missing some attacks with the 5% fumble. Basically you do 10% damage a round against the guards and they all converge as the zone is hostile.

Maybe with more weaker ones you can last long enough to take some out and retreat.

  8. You might be able to win a war of attrition by staying at the entrance and send creations in to fight the guards until they are all dead. Then retreat to the essence pool in the previous zone to recharge and repeat. It will be extremely slow since unless you have a big essence pool to maximize the creations, you won't have enough creations to kill a guard and they will heal even in combat.

  9. Interesting since you miss lots of experience and loot from quests. You don't miss out from the shops that much. You will go up faster since you level to the zones will be lower.

Depending on the game difficulty it might be hard at the start since you have to fight creations way above your starting level and you need the servant mind in the second zone to let you past a locked door into the game. There are a few other places where you won't be able to pass if you kill servant minds.

  10. The penalties and bonuses when you have them stack.

The only way to see the numbers is if you are low enough to miss where the number is shown at the bottom of the screen in the text box.

For some games, but not this one, there are topics going into the mechanics with the different base to hit for weapons and spells and what changes them. To hit chances improve with level, weapon or spell skills, and some equipment.

  11. Both games have the same general plot and map, however there are several changes to the game mechanics that make them seem like different games. Mutagen ,the remake, has more content with some new zones and levels to existing zones and a few new quests and characters. However the major differences are you have changes to the spells, combat, and you can now customize creations. Just playing the first 5 zones and you can see the differences in what you can do with your characters in the same fights. Biggest difference is no longer needing 5 action points to do spell or combat when you move up to fight something.

  12. What computer are you using?

Apple M1 MacBook Pro and Air models have a camera notch at the top that caused some programs to have trouble with calculating the screen resolution.

Edit - This is a known problem with several programs. Queen's Wish 2 was the first game made when these computers came out and was written to deal with it. Geneforge Mutations was revised to fix it , too.

  13. The beholder and its powerful monsters are separate from clearing the upper level which you did when you killed the raiders. Finding a note from the partner in a box and reporting the information clears the quest so it advances and you can now trade with him.

Going downstairs and fighting the beholder gains access to more loot and some it is useful.

    Good luck.
