  1. Maybe a puzzle, instead of just a maze, to make it more interesting and learn more about scripting. And lots of bones, floor and/or terrain, to make it creepier. Dikiyoba.
  2. That sounds more like "Criminal Minds" to me, only the people in Criminal Minds usually try to get the criminal to surrender peacefully. CSI: Avernum would be adventurers who wander around a plundered camp of slaughtered merchants trying to decide which bandits did it, or whether the giant lizards escaped and caused havoc. With gruesome flashbacks. Dikiyoba always felt that Geneforge was the place for moral dilemmas and Avernum was to save the world from destruction by monsters. The worlds are combining...

  4. You need to do the "secret ritual" to enter the temple in Spirit's City. Dikiyoba will not reveal the secret here. Dikiyoba suggests Schrodinger's FAQ/Walkthrough. Edit: Need more details about "location square." When does it happen? How often? What are you doing when it happens?
  5. You could still have the Awakened. Maybe not a bunch of magical serviles, but a group of disaffected ordinary humans with some intelligent serviles around. The problem with the Awakened is that they have an admirable cause but no power to support it. Which is probably the only reason their cause sounds good. At least the joining the Awakened got decent ending for them in G2. Dikiyoba.
  6. The only spell that can hurt the Rakshasa is Cloud of Blades. It's highly effective. Dikiyoba.
  7. This is an amusing dicussion that makes Dikiyoba laugh. Edit: Alorael's next name should relate to this discussion.
  8. I hate trying to write dialogue because it doesn't sound "natural" with the extras taken out but the sentences are hard to follow with all the extras in. Dikiyoba thinks that perhaps "non-coding words" signify acceptance and honesty between peers and nervousness when around superiors. Just a thought.
  9. I wrote: Quote: ...the fact that the name and sig both relate to skribbane... Dikiyoba did not forget to mention your sig, got any skribbane? Plzz dude.
  10. I think there's a difference between slang that is useful and slang that is "cool." For instance, the word skyscraper was once considered slang, but it was usful slang. Using "like" or "homie" every three words isn't usful in the slightest. Dikiyoba is glad we don't have to talk the way we write or write the way we talk.
  11. Quote: Originally written by Alorael:: —Alorael, who refers to himself in whatever person he pleases. Be glad it isn't the second person. Dikiyoba wishes Dikiyoba would have come up with a smart reply like that when people where asking Dikiyoba about speaking in third person. But then, when three or four people in different posts start wondering why Dikiyoba speaks in third person (as opposed to one person multiple times), it's mighty unsettling. Especially since at that time, nobody was asking Alorael why Alorael spoke in third person. Hmm...let's get someone to talk in eleventh person. What would that look like? Edit: Grammer.
  12. So Lighting Spray is really the Searing Orbs of Geneforge, isn't it? Dikiyoba.
  13. I don't think giant lizards are a good choice. It seems that there are occasional enounters in previous Avernum games where the giant lizards pulling the wagons kill the merchants. If they can kill something while harnassed to a cart, it would be too easy for them to kill riders. Besides, why do you need giant lizards, GIFTS, worgs, or pylons when there are teleportals? Dikiyoba can't think of anything else to add at the moment.

Isn't Rentar's Keep the last place in the game? Dikiyoba.
  15. I think you only need one Crescent Stone to open the crypt. Am I remembering wrong? The crescent thahds/shades do not always drop a crescent stone (and you'd probably notice if it did). You may have to kill it again to get the stone. Dikiyoba. Edit: I checked the Shaper Crypt script. I'm almost positive you only need one crescent stone.
  16. I easily get over 100 living tools in G1 thanks to a high mechanics skill and the patience to wait before unlocking doors to increase the mechanics skill or to find keys. I don't think it's 150 and it's not G3, but I'll keep track of the number I have at the end of my current game. Dikiyoba does not exploit the living tool bug in G1.

I've never installed anything on a Mac before, except for Creative Suite 2, which didn't really require any input from me. They don't let students install anything on school computers, for fear of the student messing something up (oddly enough, I've crashed every school Mac I've ever touched at least once) Ah, school computers. Everything is disabled. (Once even Microsoft Word was disabled. What do you do on a computer if even word processing is off-limits?) I've found that the more restrictions placed on something, the more problems those restrictions create. And it's stupid, because the people who are likely to cause problems with figure a way around the restrictions. Dikiyoba. Edit: Spelling.
  18. I think I remember that. Well, that should make it very interesting if that really is the case. Dikiyoba shall be skeptical but optimistic.
  19. I haven't played beyond the demo in G3, but after what I read in the scripts, I think we need a G4. But that G4 should be a huge, climatic game that wraps the rebellion against the Shapers up. Either one goes pro-Shaper and the Shapers regain total control, one goes anti-Shaper and the rebels take control, or one joins a third Awakened-like sect where Shapers win but hvae to make concessions. There's only so long series can go on. In my opinion, G1 is a stand- alone, and G2 and G3 go together, so G4 should commplete the trilogy. Dikiyoba hasn't played A4 yet (downloading issues with the Mac, must wait for Windows...), so Dikiyoba can't say whether A5 is needed or a horribly bad idea. But Dikiyoba thinks it is time for a new series.
  20. For a lot of those basic things (like locked doors, etc.) it's all preset, so it's not really an issue. Of course, not everyone uses presets. Dikiyoba. Edit: Fixed awkward sentence.
  21. got any skribbane? Plzz dude has posted exactly two posts so far, both about how wonderful skribbane is. Given that and the fact that the name and sig both relate to skribbane, I think got any skribbane? Plzz dude has a serious obsession with skribbane. I think one can safely say that skribbane messes up your real life, too. Dikiyoba says skribbane messes up your real life too. Edit: Sig change.
  22. I think, with dialog boxes, it's standard to have everything be recordable except for basic things like locked doors and pushing buttons and stuff. Dikiyoba.
  23. Can't you just edit character statistics directly in the character editor? Seems like that is mildly less work. Dikiyoba.
  24. Of course you can make a gremlin whine. Just punch it repeatedly, or twist its arm. Dikiyoba.
  25. Does anyone else lay out the supplies they've carefully hoarded in organized piles spread out over the ground? Dikiyoba is glad that none of the NPCs are thieving magpies.
