    Party time!

Including me once already, but that was explicitly a temporary (and unpublicized) hiatus due to poor health, and so much less fun than stepping down because you are no longer needed. Really, this is basically a "Goodbye (to modship) forever!" thread (but not for a couple years, at which point the board will be invaded by a horde of spambots whose weaknesses can only be exploited through the judicious application of non-avian dinosaur facts. Because Dikiyoba said so, that's why. )

    Party time!

Yay! Welcome back to normal membership, Student of Trinity! Come savor the freedom! Dikiyoba is already perfect, and therefore doesn't need to evolve into anything, Tirumph.
  3. It's original fiction, not fan-fiction, if it's inspired by/about animals, unless it's about a specific cartoon or celebrity animal. Writing from the perspective of non-human organisms is fun. A lot of Dikiyoba's short stories tend to be about animals or plants.

    Party time!

Why I am throwing a party in this thread? Why, that's for you to figure out. Come in, have some dessert, and party away. And of course, what party would be complete without a :nanaparty: or three? Dikiyoba will let someone else bring the pi.
  5. Answers so far: --- Scores: Lilith - 22 points Excalibur - 9 points Randomizer - 5 points Next round, there will not be bonus points for being first, because Lilith's score is just ridiculous right now.
  6. Rules: At the beginning of the round, a letter will be chosen by me. For each category, you may put down one answer (and one answer only) where the first letter of the first word begins with the chosen letter. For instance, if the letter for the round was i and one of the categories was "Things that are cold" you could put down iceberg or ice cream, but not both. You may not repeat an answer (or a slight variation on an answer) that someone else has already used, nor may you use the same answer for multiple categories (but you may use an answer that was listed by someone else as your answer for a different category). Articles (a, an, the) do not count as part of the answer. At the end of the round, each answer is worth a point. The first answer posted within each category is worth 2 points, so act fast. The best word (chosen by me on the basis of creativity, insightfulness, and humor) will also be worth 2 points (or 3, if the best word is also the first one). The person with the most points at the end of the round wins. --- Letter for this round: N Categories: 1. Character from the Avadon series: 2. Forum-related meme or in-joke: 3. Common Internet acronym: 4. Book title from the "What have you been reading recently?" thread: 5. An alcoholic beverage or cocktail: 6. Vegetable: 7. Name of a spell, skill, trait, ability, etc. from any Spiderweb game: 8. Name of a city, fort, or dungeon from any Spiderweb game: 9: Name of a Spiderwebber (you must use their usual nickname and not their current PDN): 10. Something you never want to see on these forums again (you may not list a person): 11. RPG term: 12. Commonly misspelled word: Go! --- Dikiyoba will do Dikiyoba's best to keep an updated list of valid answers and points as the round goes on.
  7. "Incense." Or possibly just plain incense, if the peoples of Lynaeus happen to like smoking sage. Dikiyoba.
  8. Most writers I know, including myself, have very little problem with large-scale originality. Ideas are everywhere, and they're cheap, even major characters and detailed settings. It's getting it down on paper that's the hard part. If you are trying to write a masterpiece and you don't think the craft part of writing is a huge deal, give up now! (If you're writing for fun, or practice, or some other reason, then this warning is not for you. Keep writing and have fun.) Craft is the bulk of creative writing, not ideas. If you don't wrestle over questions like "Does this sentence sound right?" or "Is this scene at the correct narrative depth for this story?" then no matter how great your characters and setting, odds are you'll end up with a cacophony, not music. Dikiyoba.
  9. The remix should work on Steam versions of the game just fine. Dikiyoba is already testing and will send a report in, hopefully soon.
  10. Dikiyoba remembers fighting six golems as well. No save near that point in the game, though.
  11. There's a good summary of the results here: http://spiderwebforums.ipbhost.com/index.php?/topic/19814-i-broke-the-first-rule-of-the-corruption-club/#entry264626 Dikiyoba.
  12. #8 could be the US. #10 is probably somewhere in southeastern Africa. #13 is possibly Mexico? Dikiyoba.
  13. Google street view makes every country look exactly the same. I mean, globalization is the real force behind that, but the limited scope that street view has makes the sameness very obvious. #15 is 3480, Nong Prue, Kanchanaburi, Thailand. Dikiyoba has no idea exactly where that is, but the address is in the photo.
  14. You got an honor token, you mean? Hand Kaede in the Avadon training hall (where Dedrik hangs out) has a quest for those. Dikiyoba.
  15. The links to Steam and such are actually on the Avadon 2 page. It's not in the store proper, nor are prices listed, but there's enough there that people can investigate. Dikiyoba.
  16. Say what? There are endless stories that can be told using the same characters, the same setting, the same continuity. Many of them can be really great if handled properly. The original Star Wars was a good movie, but the consensus is that The Empire Strikes Back is even better. And that's before you add in retellings, alternate continuities, the ability to focus on secondary characters and different events, the ability to use different techniques and formats... one published story, even a whole series of published stories, is a drop in the bucket. Dikiyoba.
  17. One of the stone sentinels says that all three scenarios are fake, and the Corruption is just inventing decoys to keep people away from the real reason the Corruption exists. It is weird, though, that the writing doesn't have the character acknowledge the multiple explanations. Dikiyoba.
  18. Lightsabers. Dikiyoba congratulates Alorael. Congratulations! All hail Alorael!
  19. It's poor game design. You shouldn't be able to complete a quest and then fail it. Make it so that you can't attack the outpost after completing their quest, or so that if you do, the Grey Raptors come after you only and Yoshiria remains happy. Dikiyoba.
  20. Yes, I did take her with me when I wiped out the outpost. (I also took Khalinda and had no issues there. She's not upset, the Grey Raptors don't want her, etc.) Did you complete that game yet? If so, what happened to her in the ending? Dikiyoba.
  21. Dikiyoba's character never made a promise to the Grey Raptors. All Yoshiria cares about is settling her debt to the Grey Raptors in a way that will let her live, and Dikiyoba did that. The Grey Raptors should be (and are) angry at Dikiyoba in the ending for slaughtering everyone, but they should no longer have an issue with her.
  22. She refused to come with me and died defending the fort. Dikiyoba.
  23. Do we know how many Hands are necessary to defend Fort Farsight? Is it possible to save the fort and still kill Redbeard? Dikiyoba.
  24. So I completed Yoshiria's loyalty quest: started the fire, reported it back to the Grey Raptors, got the message that Yoshiria was happy with me, and lied to Hand Callan about it. Then I slaughtered everyone in the Grey Raptor outpost because they were a threat to the wellbeing of the Pact. Upon leaving the outpost, I got the message that Yoshiria was upset with me, and at the end of the game she refused to come with me to fight Redbeard. Something about this situation needs to change. (Yes, Dikiyoba knows that Jeff won't find out about this unless Dikiyoba e-mails Spiderweb directly. Dikiyoba just wanted opinions and ideas from people here first.)
