  1. I seem to recall that there is a gay character in one of the later Bean books who realizes that marrying a woman and having children is something he must do because all people must procreate. That was around the point that I stopped reading the books. It was a shame too. Ender's Shadow was incredible, but the later Bean books just got worse and worse.

I bought a Kindle a bit over a year ago, and I love it. I still enjoy physical books, and I still buy them and put them on my shelf, but the convenience of the Kindle is great. Also, I have never had a problem with formatting issues on any books bought through the Kindle store. I sometimes find errors in books acquired through other sources, but never on an ebook for which I have paid.

No. They should NOT be dropping them at all. I don't mind if people smoke, and I am not ashamed to admit that I indulge in the occasional cigarette, usually if I'm drinking with friends. However, I cannot stand the people who just leave their butts all over the place. It is disgusting, harmful to the environment, and completely illegal.

Here in Pennsyvlania, where it is legal to smoke in bars, there are plenty of smoke free bars or bars that allow smoking only outside or in a designated smoking section. I'm not saying that what you describe doesn't happen, but there are certainly bars that ban smoking even when the law does not.

Since prohibition did not work for alcohol, they figured that prohibition on tobacco would meet with equal failure.
Actually, the taxes on cigarettes are not really meant to discourage people from purchasing cigarettes. Rather, the government knows that people will continue to buy cigarettes whether they tax them or not, so they might as well tax them at a reasonably high rate. It's a guaranteed source of revenue.

I've worked in offices where more than half the people smoked (this was before laws were enacted that banned smoking in offices). I have never had any medical condition related to all that smoke.
By that same token, there are people who have smoked a pack of cigarettes every day for their entire adult life and never gotten cancer or emphysema. Does this mean it doesn't cause serious medical problems in other people? There are people who have ridiculously unhealthy diets and are not obese. Does this mean diet has nothing to do with obesity?

That's possible in only a few places in the US. Most states have an age of consent of 16 or 17, and many that do not have exceptions for people close in age.
  7. Sometimes, it seems that nothing short of video evidence of someone else committing the crime (and maybe not even then!) can overturn a case after the jury votes guilty.

It can be argued that the last two rights can be forfeited to protect other people's rights, but I fail to see how the first right adheres to that argument.
  9. Then I think you've hit the end of what we on the forum can suggest. If I were you I would send an email to support@spiderwebsoftware.com explaining exactly what happens and see if they can help you. If they can't, they can certainly give you a refund.
