  1. I wouldn't recommend playing someone else's savegame. If you want to explore, it would be much better to just move your party into areas that you shouldn't really be in at your level, and save your progress in case of random encounters that you would undoubtedly be killed in.

You can move a level one party all the way to Bargha can't you?

I would imagine you can, although I don't really see the appeal.

  2. Your computer is not running at 800x600 in that video. There are two separate settings that need to be made to make the game run fullscreen at 800x600. The very first time you launched the game, it gave you this dialog box:

If you select "Always Switch Resolution" or "Switch Resolution This Time", it will change your screen resolution to 800x600 while running the game. If you select "Never Switch Resolution" or "Don't Switch This Time", it will keep your current screen resolution and run the game either in a window in the middle of the screen or letterboxes, depending on your settings. If you select "Always Switch Resolution" or "Never Switch Resolution", you will never see this box again. In order to play the game fullscreen without letterboxing, you need to set it to always switch or switch this time. If you had set it to never switch in the past, you can change that by going into the in-game preferences by clicking the floppy disk button in the lower right and clicking the box labeled "Ask at startup whether to change resolution."

  3. If you run the game at 800x600, you should not have any bars at the top and bottom of your screen unless your graphics drivers are set up to letterbox non-native resolutions. The game has three display options: Run fullscreen at 800x600, run fullscreen in the center of the window at native resolution, or run in a window. I just tested both the Mac and Windows versions on my computer and there is no vertical letterboxing when running the game at 800x600.

  4. As people have already mentioned: -

    Icewind Dale + Expac

    Icewind Dale II + Expac

    Neverwinter Nights + Expacs

    TES - Oblivion

    TES - Skyrim

What's wrong with the Elder Scrolls expansions? :p

  5. I just tested Avernum 5, which uses a different engine than N:R, but has the same engine as the older Geneforge games. The overlay does not work, but you can alt-tab out of the game, and Nalyd's guide to play Geneforge in a window will work too.

  6. *runs quickly to other direction*

p.s. its kobayashi maru if you are referring what James Tiberius Kirk did (or will do since technically its ~100 years in future).

He was in character. Clearly you need to watch more Futurama. It's a THOUSAND years in the future, not a measly hundred.

Also, StarTrek is in the 23rd century, so it's at least 200 years in the future.

  7. Well, the gospels do explicitly mention his reputation as a drinker, and not to deny it. But wine was evidently his drink. He probably never tasted beer.

My uncle, a staunch teetotaler and member of the fundamentalist Church of God, always maintained that the wine that Jesus and his disciples drank was a special kind of nonalcoholic wine that we have forgotten how to make.

  8. Well, Tongues of Serpents wasn't very good, but Crucible of Gold was fine. It did spent too much time in the Incan Empire and not enough time in Brazil, though.

Tongues of Serpents wasn't incredible, but it was better than Empire of Ivory. I feel exactly as you do about Crucible of Gold.

  9. Yeah, most wine is actually not sweet at all. The yeast eats up most of the sugar. One issue is simply what grapes are made into juice. The North American standard purple Welch's grape juice is made from Concord grapes, I believe. I understand you can make wine out of them, but they're not one of the dozen or so standard varietals for wine. If you find you appreciate a better class of grape juice, you might find you really like wine. Alcohol is a great solvent for aromas.

I'm not a big wine fan, but I actually like Manischewitz Concord grape kosher wine because it's sweet and tastes like alcoholic grape juice. :p
