  1. I was actually referring to X=1, Y=0. The towns I have set are: t2 Caldiris t5 Grand Temple t6 Dark Cave t8 Mountain Pass t20 Checkpoint t55 Hidden Grotto t83 Thasmaskon by my count that's seven, I can't place t82 Mountain Pass, but if there's no way to do it, I'll just make it an outdoor special encounter. That being said, thanks for pointing out t86 Nebulous Grotto. When that town entrance was not translated, I had it set for t87 Chilly Cavern, which would have skipped a level of gameplay and would have been a mistake. Thank you.
  2. Another potential problem - apparently, outdoor sections can only have 7 town entrances (instead of 8), am I right? Probably a bug, because the editor says "eight". I've counted my town entrances in the section numerous times. (If this is the case, it'll just be a matter of switching one "town" to a special encounter outdoors for OG&E).
  3. I did some testing of my own - I was able to create supply caches (like the ones in A3 if I recall), I'm not sure how many other scenarios use them.
  4. Sorry if this has been asked before, but I've been reading change terrain nodes are faulty when used outdoors. Could someone elaborate on this? I think it has something do to with resetting after you quit.
  5. I haven't actually figured out how to do custom graphics in BoA, I'm going to wait until more progress on the actual scenario is made.
  6. I have actually done the port myself. So far I've adjusted town/outdoors to utilize heights, fixing up dialogue, and creating custom items/creatures. Thanks for your help. Also thanks to Sylae for a scenario data dump. Of course, this project will be easier once a BoE scenario editor for 10.8.2 is coded.
  7. Well, it's that time again. What movies did you see this year? Movies I saw and my evaluations: Wreck-It Ralph 9/10 (best) Brave 8/10 The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey 8/10 The Hunger Games 8/10 (weakest) I did also see Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace in 3D (6/10), but it's far from the first time I've seen it, and it's not a 2012 movie, so it doesn't count in the above list. I saw it just for.... fun... "Weakest" is a different categorization from "worst", since although it is designating the weakest film that I saw this year, but it's still good enough that I could not say "worst". I'm sure though that there are movies that would rank "worst" this year if I saw them, but I simply have no interest. To be honest, with a few exceptions, there's very little I haven't seen this year that I want to. Unfortunately, I'm not optimistic about the slate of films for 2013, either.
  8. It's very helpful. Thank you!
  9. Under most circumstances, I probably could do this on my own, but I'm on 10.8, where there is no BoE scenario editor that works on my system, and my CrossOver is broken. I'm working on a port of OG&E, I have the scenario ported but there's still obviously lots to patch up. I was wondering if someone who can open a copy of the editor can send me a list of all the custom monsters and custom items in the scenario so I can recreate them in BoA. I know that's asking quite a bit, but I can't see any other way to do this. Thanks heaps. If needed, the password is 26522 or 26523.
  10. I've been looking at the Scenario Trivia which I created years ago, which I'm not sure how many people care about, but nevertheless it's still on the Lyceum and thought it may be worth saving, and what better place to do that than TrueSite. Hey, maybe I'll actually finish it if it's there. EDIT: Of course, some of the trivia may need to be adjusted, especially considering the CSR was revamped.
  11. The databases I'm referring to are the default BoA graphics. I can't seem to access which numbers pertain to which graphics -- I found a temporary solution by cross-referencing the "Default Creatures/Items" in Erik Westra's Cookbook and looking at the numbers in the Default Creature/Item Scripts. I would like an easier way of doing this, and I can't get into the graphics files provided with the game (I'm on OS X).
  12. Thank you for the offer. If there's anything I can think of I need help with, you'll be the first to know. EDIT: I don't seem to have access to the monster and items graphics databases, they are UNIX files....
  13. Thanks everyone. While I agree with Enraged Slith that the Blades communities are pretty much dead as there seem to be next to no scenarios coming out now for either engine, I'm still feeling that there may yet be an audience.
  14. Well, I'm asking because I've been hoping to port (or have ported, and am hoping to fix it up and make it playable) the Blades of Exile scenario, "Of Good and Evil" by Alcritas to Blades of Avernum. I just started tweaking with the ported version, and while it's nowhere near finished, I am actually very optimistic that this could work, even if some minor parts may have to be cut. Yes, it's a scenario with lots of complicated noding, but things are going better than expected so far. (I have the password to OG&E as Alcritas made them public years ago, so I can look into the scenario to see what's supposed to happen if there is any confusion). The reason I've wanted to take on this project is (besides a personal challenge and wanting to say I contributed something to BoA) because I have been wanting to bring one of BoE's top scenarios to the Blades of Avernum engine. Alcritas was regarded as one of the best designers in the history of Blades of Exile, and although BoE is now free and open-source, there are still people who prefer BoA, and I would like to give those players a taste of one of BoE's best designers and bring at least one great BoE classic to BoA. The question is, though, how many still play BoA today? The game is almost nine years old now. When BoE was at this age, it was spitting out its last scenarios and was dying out. I'm seeing something similar happening to BoA, with many of its more well-known designers gone and fewer scenarios being released. At this point, would anyone really care about a new scenario for BoA? I will say, even if I do finish this project, it will likely be my final contribution to the Blades games and the Spiderweb community.
  15. Several years back, I tried to do this with Ash Lael, but it went pretty much nowhere.
  16. I've looked at numerous sources, and these are my predictions: For the Presidential election, I predict that Obama and Romney will carry all the states pre-colored for them (blue and red, respectively) on http://www.270towin.com/ (just to save a little space) Obama will also carry: PA, MI, WI, NH, IA, and NV. I also think Obama will take OH, but I'm not as confident as I am about the others. Romney will also carry: NC and FL CO and VA are still wildcards in my mind. For the Senate, I predict that: AZ - Republican hold CA - Democratic hold CT - Democratic gain (from independent) DE - Democratic hold FL - Democratic hold: even though this state will probably go for Romney, Nelson seems to be leading quite decisively. HI - Democratic hold IN - Democratic gain: again, my home state of Indiana is almost certainly going for Romney, but it seems like the GOP candidate is very extreme and is trailing in the polls ME - Independent gain (from Republican) MA - Democratic gain MI - Democratic hold MN - Democratic hold MS - Republican hold MO - Democratic hold: again, a likely Romney state, but incumbent Claire McCaskill seems to be leading against an extreme GOP candidate. MT - Republican gain NE - Republican gain NV - Republican hold: While NV will probably go for Obama, Heller seems to be a strong incumbent against a candidate who's campaign seems to be sinking. NJ - Democratic hold NM - Democratic hold NY - Democratic hold ND - Republican gain OH - Democratic hold: even if Romney manages to carry Ohio, a weak GOP candidate and Brown with a more commanding lead in Ohio than Obama suggests that Brown is unlikely to be unseated. PA - Democratic hold RI - Democratic hold TN - Republican hold TX - Republican hold UT - Republican hold VT - Independent hold WA - Democratic hold WV - Democratic hold: Despite being a heavily anti-Obama state, Senator Manchin is extremely well liked and leads his GOP challenger by 30+ points, making the race non-competitive. WI - Democratic hold: Unlike most other states, the Democratic Senate candidate (Tammy Baldwin) will likely underperform Obama in the state, but she still seems the favorite to win the open seat WY - Republican hold Final projection: 51 Democrats, 2 Independents, 47 Republicans, the exact makeup of the Senate now. Also, Republicans will retain control of the House of Representatives.

  18. Back in 2004, a contest was organized where a 'restriction' was put on scenario design, challenging the designer to work around those restrictions. I may amend one of the rules so that designers can pick from a list, so not every scenario turns into "minimalism" The contest would be open to both BoA and BoE. Since I'm not too familiar with BoA Programming, I'm not sure if "no scripts" would really work in BoA. Some examples would be: -No Towns -No Text -No Special Nodes (except for "End Scenario") -No Monsters -No Items etc. More info about how this was run here (No outdoors wouldn't count as that's been done so many times now). If there's enough interest to get this going, I may enter a BoE scenario myself.
  19. How would you rank the scenarios of Alcritas, arguably the greatest designer for BoE? I'd like take some designers (mostly the top tier) and see which scenarios are liked the best. Anyway: 1. Redemption 10/10 2. An Apology 10/10 3. Of Good and Evil 9/10 4. Falling Stars 9/10 5. Tomorrow 8/10 6. Lamentations 7/10 7. On a Ship to Algiers 7/10 8. Heirs to Theseus 3/10 Haven't finished: Kalloskagathos, Staff of Kayolith. I didn't rank Signs and Portents as it is a movie scenario.
  20. I actually thought this wasn't too bad of a first effort. Sure the combat is crazy-hard and the plot is weak, but there seems to be some atmosphere to it. That being said, I still feel that there are too many areas that need improvement. I will rate it [rating]Substandard[/rating], but it's close to average.
  21. Well the document is finished. PM me if you want me to send it to you. Unfortunately for you, BJ Earles, the fact that your scenarios placed how they did pretty much wiped out all your judging except for tie-breaking. Nevertheless, thanks for taking time to judge and I wish you well in your future design endeavors. It's been a while since a scenario in "newcomer" took 2nd, so congratulations on that. Somehow I feel like getting back to my BoA scenario, which I've had put away for some time....
  22. Yes. However, I'm the only judge to provide comments. Not blaming anyone as I didn't ask.

I'd like to thank everyone who entered and/or judged in this contest. And of course, congratulations to Ephesos for winning his first general contest ever! I'll be working on a detailed Word document on how I arrived at the results that I did. If you would like a copy when I'm done, let me know. Thanks everyone! EDIT: Oh and if you're wondering, there is nothing April Fools about these results
  24. I have just completed the scenarios, final scores will be up shortly.
