  1. Maybe I will, but what's been happening is people have been getting spam (which I didn't send) from my account, and shutting it down was the only way to go. I'm not sure I could add much if all we're discussing is source code, though. However, if we want to discuss the contest too, I could contribute there.
  2. It might be bugged from the moment it starts up.
  3. I'd come, but I had to delete my AIM account because it got bugged.
  4. You may or may not know, based on how much you've chatted with me, that I like travelling quite a bit. I'm curious as to where you've been. Don't have many cities, as I've only started seeing the USA since 2008 and can't travel all the time Favorites Myrtle Beach, SC - A nice small town, with friendly people and quite a bit to do, as well as great restaurants. Like Minneapolis, MN - Great city, lots of fun attractions (even though the Water Park of America wasn't that good), and good food. Madison, WI - Also a great town, smaller, but nice to look around. Phoenix, AZ - While it was a very sprawled city, it had interesting flora and fun things to do. So-So Orlando, FL - fun attractions, but sprawled and very expensive. It does contain Aquatica, maybe in my opinion the best water park. I haven't been to Disney much, though, because of the high costs. Dislike New York, NY - I know I'm in the minority here, but I thought the place is old, ugly, and crowded. There's stuff to do, but the 'unique' stuff doesn't interest me that much. Erie, PA - The downtown is old and looks ugly, and the rest of the place is just lots of commercial, and there's very little to actually do. They do have a good water park though. Least Favorites Southampton, NY - dull and uninteresting, and seemed really old. ---- Yeah, I personally don't care much for these older cities. I've also been to Washington DC, Philadelphia PA, Louisville, KY and Charlotte, NC but for the first two it's been when I was kid/teen, and for the latter two, I didn't really go into the cities. I'm hoping to go to DC next summer on my own. What places do you like/dislike?
  5. I can't say I cared much for this scenario. The town/outdoor layouts were sloppy, the plot was confusing and messy, and the fights were just okay. There were some cool technical tricks in the scenario, but other than that it wasn't that good. And why is it that part of the plot is spoiled in the opening? [rating]Substandard[/rating]
  6. One of the limitations BoA has, in my opinion, is the graphics. However, Ephesos really has a way of overcoming this limitation. It's a very pretty scenario, like DoK and EoR. In some ways, the terrain and boats reminded me of Age of Empires. It was a standard good vs. evil plot, although it was cool to see the Darkside Loyalists in a scenario (even though I don't really know what they are, I just hear of them on the forums). It was enjoyable to play, but it would have been nice for it to be longer to expand the plot. The one thing I really didn't like, however, was the "OH NO! THE LEADER IS DEAD! WE SURRENDER" thing, even though it didn't show that the war was over, but still. [rating]Average[/rating]
  7. Eh, didn't love this one, didn't hate it. Interesting concept, but it was repetitive, the fights weren't that good, and the whole scenario seemed pointless given that the outcome was the same as if the party didn't do anything. [rating]Substandard[/rating]
  8. Okay, I've just started this scenario. Am I supposed to flee or kill off all the Sliths attacking the town?
  9. You might have already seen this, but in case you don't read the BoA forums, we'll be having a contest open to both BoE and BoA scenarios. More information here.
  10. Chatting with Lazarus, Threnody will likely not be in the contest, but that could change.
  11. Ick. I didn't like this very much. It just seemed to have mindless hacking and too much wandering around. Profoundly boring. [rating]Substandard[/rating]
  12. Very small, illogical plot points, and not that much to do, but still works okay. [rating]Substandard[/rating]
  13. A great first effort, with some good parts, and interesting fights. Wouldn't say it's great, but still a very fun scenario to play. [rating]Average[/rating]
  14. A pretty overrated scenario to be honest, had some neat technical tricks, but wasn't really that enjoyable and didn't look that good. The story was pretty unengaging as well. [rating]Substandard[/rating]
  15. Eh, basically a standard short scenario with some changes, but nothing special at all. [rating]Substandard[/rating]
  16. This isn't an official contest/poll or anything, just want to see what various users on the forums think. Best BoA Scenario: Frostbite Also: Echoes: Renegade Canopy Embers of Rebellion Mad Ambition
  17. This was probably my biggest mistake in terms of judging contests (although my rating would have had no effect on the final standing), as I placed it last. In retrospect, out of the scenario I judged, I should have ranked it 3rd or 4th probably. It's an impressive effort with an okay storyline, lots of cool technical tricks, and challenging fights. Sometimes it got tedious however, and it was very long. Still, worth a playthrough. [rating]Average[/rating]
  18. This scenario seemed like a standard hack-fest with little story and was rather dull. Not too much that can be said here. [rating]Substandard[/rating]
  19. Too short to really go into much detail, but I can credit it for being coherent and not sloppy. Okay plot and decently fun, but too short to be worth much. [rating]Substandard[/rating]
  20. This scenario is a little overrated in my opinion, but still worth a playthrough. Has some good technical tricks, a standard to confusing (at the TM level) plot, and overall seems like an average BoA scenario. [rating]Average[/rating]
  21. I meant Duck, I'm sorry. He will decide what he wants to do.
  22. Well, I'm not in charge of the WG contest, so that would really be up to Handyman, but yes, they'll be eligible. I'm going to enter "The Crusaders" in at this time.
  23. Deadline: December 1, 2011 (If people want it sooner or later, I'll move it. I thought if this inspires anyone to design, I'll leave that option open) There seems to be reasonable interest in having it, I guess, so I'll go ahead and start it. We've had many scenarios come out in the past few years, so I think it's time to have another general contest. For those of you who don't know how they work, they are open to all scenarios that haven't competed in a general contest previously. There is a preliminary judging phase, where scenarios will be judged in separate categories, including one for anyone who hasn't previously participated in a contest. The others will be decided based on which scenarios are entered into the contest. If your scenario is good enough, you will advance to Best Scenario Judging, where you will have the chance to win Best Scenario, and go down in Blades history as a contest winner! Unfortunately, I can't guarantee prizes will be given to the winner. It may be that Stareye or someone will agree to give the winner a custom title of their choice on these forums, but no promises. However, your scenario will be added to the list of Contest Winners, which is an honor amongst itself. Preliminary judging works as follows: Judges will score scenarios from 1 to 10, with 10 being the best. The scenario that scores the best in its category wins the category. The winner, as well as any scenario within 80% of the category winner will advance to Best Scenario. Best Scenario judging will involve the judges submitting a list from best to worst, and it will be averaged to come up with a cumulative Best Scenario. Since there are many eligible scenarios now, I've decided to make a list, and if you want to enter, just say so. However, I'll wait till the contest gets closer to start collecting judges. The contest will be open to both BoE and BoA. As it is likely the majority of contestants will be made with BoA, you will be required to have a registered copy of BoA to judge. BoE is open source now and is free, so most shouldn't have trouble getting it, but if you can't or feel you can't judge BoE scenarios fairly, we'll work something out. Current Eligible Scenarios (scenarios confirmed are in bold; scenarios that will likely not be competing are crossed out): Threnody (Lazarus) Waterweb (Handyman) The Crusaders (Bain) (BOE Scenario) Black Crown: Part I (Duck) Strange Gildra (BJ Earles) The Cradle (BJ Earles) Warp (Ephesos) The Siege of Copperpeak (Ephesos) Out of Sight (Nikki) The Staff (Slack) Nobody's Heroes (Kelandon) Sorcerer's Apprentice (Niemand) The Eternal (Nikki) The Triple Valley (Iffy) Quarhag Pass (Smoo) The Ritual of Registration (Nemesis) Incorruptible (Tridash) Turn That Frown Upside-Down (Duck) Turn the Frown Upside Down II (Duck) HIM: Wolf at the Door (Thralni) Enemy at the Gates (Metatron) Gluckcluck (Enraged Slith) Always on Your Day Off! (Nicothodes) To Hell in a Handbasket (Nemesis) Oops (Dintiradan) Pilgrimage to Thakos (Sylae Correll) (BOE Scenario) Melliput Mobsters (Celtic Minstrel) Beechford (M Haensel) If anyone's interested, Previous Contest Winners: 1st Contest: Tatterdemalion (BoE) (Tarl Kudrick) 2nd Contest: Redemption (BoE) (Alcritas) 3rd Contest: Masks (BoE) (Brett Bixler) 4th Contest: Falling Stars (BoE) (Alcritas) 5th Contest: Quintessence (BoE) (Brett Bixler) 6th Contest: Emulations (BoE) (Stareye) 7th Contest, BoE: Tomorrow (BoE) (Alcritas) 7th Contest, BoA/Spiderweb: Bahssikava (BoA) (Kelandon) 8th Contest: Echoes: Renegade (BoA) (Terror's Martyr) 9th Contest: Frostbite (BoA) (Lazarus) Which scenario will be added to this list? The drama begins...
