  1. Or just have another field on the Alex search page that allows the user to choose whether to search for utility scenarios or not. Since they're out there, they mays well be on Alex.
  2. The map page is part of the Blazing Blade, which is the web site of Luz Piazuelo. Give her the credit, not me.
  3. Yes, there's a few scenarios that take place on other continents. I forget what they are right off the top of my head, though. EDIT: You can find maps of many areas here .
  4. Hmmmm, I've always wondered how anybody kills Erika, also. Whenever you attack her on her throne, you die instantly. Or do you have to kill her when she appears later in the game? I hate it when towns do that. Off topic, but...
  5. Not me; I just feel so compelled to post here... My favorite monsters are: bandits, the callobration of brigands, archers, soldiers, and sometimes wolves, preferrably without magical creatures. Reason: easy experience.
  6. Yeah, I'm here at least once a day not considering special circumstances, as the case was the last two days. Who savored my absence?
  7. Quote: Originally written by Thuryl: People are still making and playing BoE scenarios. Go for it. Eh, I always have a BoE scenario in progress. I just don't work on it very often. And then when I do start working on in on a somewhat regular basis, I lose interest in the scenario and start a new one. So I never get one fininshed.
  8. Hmmmmmm Try these: 1. Is your Internet settings preventing you from downloading files? You can check on the Internet Options choice on the Control Panel. 2. Are you able to download other files? The you might be able to find some sort of anwer in your browser's help file. 3. If it does anything at all when you click on the download link, try waiting a little longer.
  9. Hmmmm, which NE exile do you mean?
  10. WBS: 1. Problem solved. 2. When you're ready, you can just start a topic here and I'm sure you'll get a few people interested in beta-testing your scenario. Also, some of those utility downloads don't work for me either, especially the text ones such as the SDF records.
  11. Quote: Originally written by Wham Bam Shizam: So first, how many moves counts as a day? Is it every 187 moves? No, it's every 3,700 moves, I believe. Considering you're in town. Outdoors, I think each move counts as 5 or 10 or something...much more than indoors anyway. Quote: I am making a rest special in a town. Okay, I suppose you've figured out how to make there be buttons that you can push, like "Rest" and "Leave" too. That's good. As for the stuff done flags, pretty much what ADoS said. I usually put the number of the town in the Part A box to keep you from getting confused. If you need more than 10 per town, you can add 100 to the number of the town. Some people will disagree, but that's what I do and it works. If you're confused, a One Time special needs a stuff done flag to set to 250. Take note than any SDF set to 250 renders the node it's attached to done for. Therefore, the One Time special will set the stuff done flag indicated in the special node dialog box to 250, and the node will not work again. Just be careful not to use that SDF again.
  12. You could always make a movie scenario to introduce the main scenario after it, such as Stareye did with Spears. You just have to know how to use that Jump To function.
  13. How the heck did she find out how to make a .sit file in the first place? And then she can't figure out how to make a .zip. Maybe Jeff should just erase BoE totally from his site. And hand it out as freeware. Then he'd have even more time to work with his precious BoA.
  14. Does he even know what CSR is?
  15. It depends on the situation, really. I would recommend you start of with learning how to use the BoE editor before moving to the more powerful but more confusing BoA one. Also, it generally takes less time to complete a BoE scenario than a BoA one. And less intelligence and computer know-how. I personally use BoE because it's simpler, there's more scenarios, and it actually works on my computer. Since you have already completed a scenario, now would be a good time to get BoA if you're interested, but the choice is still entirely up to you. That's about all I have to say. Except for extending my welcome to the boards. Have fun! And if you want to get a few more hi's, flames, and/or off-topic material, you could start a topic in general (though be prepared for anything). EDIT: STOP. NOOOOOOO! Ignore the last sentence in the second paragraph before it's too late! Clarifacation
  16. Wow. Shyguy, you were being truthful there, I suppose. What if Jeff comes out with another totally awesome game series everyone starts talking about. Then would you buy it? Also, thank goodness for other sites such as Alex, TMU, and others created by the community.
  17. Yes, you can get more than 20 of one of these categories. You just have to start your character with 20 of that stat and then make them a race that gets bonuses in that stat automatically. And BAM, more than 20. However, you'll have to use the character editor afterward to bring the other stats up to an acceptable amount, if you don't mind a little cheating. Spells...Some scenarios have special spells, but they are just a jumble of special nodes that make it appear to be a spell; it doesn't pop up on the game's spell list or anything, so the short answer is still no.
  18. Unfortunately, good town design takes a lot of work, but if you want your scenario to be interesting, you have to spend a lot of time on them. Consequently, if the plot you choose for your scenario is interesting to you, it should make designing even the "dirty work" such as town at least a bit interesting. If designing your scenario bores you to death, chances are it will bore the people that play it, also.
  19. Okay, let me rephrase that, as I can see now that my first post didnt' make much sense; the first word was supposed to be "Doesn't." And Gizmo, I think you were right (partly). When you push the button to submit your review, doesn't it automatically add it to the list of reviews for that scenario on the site, or does Brett have to sort through them and put them on a certain times? Now, my guess now would be the latter. Hope this cleared up confusion.
  20. Don't the review pop up automatically when you submit them, or am I a little slow again...
  21. Thanks for all your help, everyone, though I still can't figure out why that save file won't work, but it shouldn't really matter that much now. I'll just create my party like this: 1. Vandell. 24 HP, 5 edged, and a Bronze Knife. I'll skip the Chronic Disease for now, as it seems to me that it's just an excuse for you having to carry around some healing and curing potions to cure the poison. Thanks again!
  22. Okay, I'll just try it with my own L1 party (it is non-magical). I wanted to make sure that it isn't critical you use the prefab party. BtW, does it have to be a singleton, though?
  23. Okay, I decided, since you said it had no magic, that I was going to play The Election. So I downloaded it and got everything ready, but I ran into a problem. I copied the prefab party that comes with the scenario into the folder all my other save files were, but when I loaded it up in the game, I got an error message that said "This is not an Exile II save file". . How do I get this to work and/or what were the attributes of that party so I can play it right?
  24. Quote: Regardless, nice to have you drop by again. You could stick around, you know. However you feel about BoE itself, you can still chat with those who do play it. No kidding. We can always use you to answer our questions and put a new perspective in some debates. The more points of view there are, the more we can consider the different opinions of other people. As for playing BoE, in personally (note that I said personally) agree mostly with Creator, as after all, it isn't the real thing, but a bunch of tiny squares called pixels being projected onto a screen and configured a certain way. The same thing goes for violence, but it's actually a part of life. But yes Aceron, I can see your point.
  25. Wow, Aceron. I find that pretty revelant to me except for the god party and deleting BoE every once in a while. Scenario designers make scecarios that require magic such as Unlock and Move Mountains because they see no reason that somebody would want to play it without magic, I think. As for the Anama contest, remember that the Anama still use magic, just not the mage variety. However, if such a contest was started, I would have trouble finding time to design a scenario because of school, homework, etc. I hope to complete at least one scenario in my lifetime, though. Oh yeah, and we'd a good name for it. (The contest, I mean.)
