  3. I couldn't get the original to work on 64-bit Windows 7, but if you have Win7 Professional you can install XP Mode, which it did work on.
  4. Only problem I ever had with Exile on Vista was a quick tweak to my sound drivers.
  5. Yes I do. First I tried posting the image right in the post like the good ol' days, but then I remembered that hotlinking was disabled. And I'd already closed the browser window I got it from and didn't feel like finding the page url again. Basically its cuz im lazy.

  9. I'll have to come out and say here than I am proud to post on the forums of an indie developer who gets his product out before the deadline like this and consistently has a great storyline from beginning to end. However, I would also like to know what takes 4 months as far as porting to Windows.
  10. What exactly does the Anama's tresure consist of? I have considered trying for it, but I figured the consequences would be too dire for my poor low-level party.
  11. Also, while we're on the topic... I been playing Spears recently, and I decided to help the Sliths. At Seablaze Tower, I went into the battle before listening to Zaevess (must not have listened to the commander carefully enough). Was this a fatal mistake?
  12. Cool. My Vista came with my computer. However, I'm pretty sure advertising is not a sanctioned activity of these forums.
  13. Well, sure Vista has gimmicks and adjustments that need to be made, but at least it looks cool and forces you to buy a powerful computer just to run it.
  14. I am not an expert at using Notepad (or what have you) to decode executables, but there may have been some items that Jeff considered including in the game, decided against it, and forgot to remove them from the source code. That would be my opinion. Also, your link contains an unnecessary comma. Just telling ya.
  15. Hmmm. Now that I've played a little bit, having no sounds can be a little annoying. Having no sounds also translates into having no pauses in the gameplay when a sound would have normally been played (e.g. if a monster dies it just suddenly disappears). So I'd like to know how to fix this, but if not, that's fine; at least it's playable now. EDIT: Oh n/m, it turned out, after a little online searching, was I had a sound card driver problem. Thanks anyway.
  16. Well, well, what do you know. I experimented with the preferences, and once I turned the sounds off, the game worked perfectly! That's wierd; Vista quirk perhaps? Thank you, BtW.
  17. I tried temporarily disabling real-time scanning, which didn't speed up the game and running it in compatibility mode didn't do much either. How do you turn off the indexing service? Also, you're right: the new look is just a small part of the hype about Vista. I think people use it just because it's seen as the "new generation of Windows", though it really not all that different from XP.
  18. Hi again folks, I recently got Windows Vista (pretty cool-looking, by the way), and I installed all the Exiles. However, they all run very slowly, even though the game speed is set on 'fastest'. Avernum works fine. Why might this be?
  19. That's under the Troglo castle. In the concealed tunnel, I forget exactly what you're supposed to do. Did you read the walkthrough in the forum header?

  23. A burning question from my middle brother: Quote: Alright, alright, I need you guys to help me here. Alright so im playing Avernum 2 and I'm looking for the crystal souls. I been to Angiearch and fornd where one crystal soul is and it's inclosed by the powerful vahnatai barrier. The only way to get rid of the barrier is to use quickfire. So Ereka tells me to talk to Elna (or whatever her name is)in Matrox's cave. She says that I have to find a powerful vahantai maje to make quickfire. Patric tells me I have to go to Rentar-Ihrno. So I do but that [censored] just keeps sending me out and won't tell me anything. How do you get Rentar-Ihrno to help you.
