  2. Nethergate, or Avernum 1? They both use the same standard engine, so which one do you prefer... and why? The poll is simple: one question. The why... well, post something here... - Archmagus Micael
  3. Try your shaper with only 1 creation to back you up. That may make life a tad interesting for you . - Archmagus Micael
  4. Erika definitely helps you. I found her to be a worthy distraction for Rentar, and she also blasted any of Rentar's minions to pieces, which got them out of my way. So yeah, get Erika. She dies anyway, and she helps you. It's how she would have wanted to die - fighting to protect Exile. - Archmagus Micael
  5. Quote: Originally written by Beamup: Hokay, thanks for the advice. Torment, here I come... People say that Agent is hardest to play, but on Torment, it just beats Shaper and Guardian! With around 15 BM, my Agent can cast VERY powerful spells. I've just entered Kazg, with no Creations whatsoever. - Archmagus Micael
  6. I'm running the game with only Alwan now (I had Greta up until I left for Gull). I've put up my Magics, Spellcraft, some magic shaping (for mortar creations like artillas, and perhaps a vlish), Leadership, and Mechanics. I also put up a bit of Strength, Intelligence and Endurance. My main spells are "Mass Energize" and Augmentation. Then I just smash anything aside with Searer, Ice Bolt, or Spray. I also use that spell which zapps all enemies within range with powerful acid. Sometimes he acid stuns them (or appears to). I get killed sometimes, but I find that Alwan, though physically frail, can take quite a pounding with Augmentation. He also deals tons of dmage out ot the bad guys (the rebels). If you're playing as a rebel (I suppose Greta stays with you), upgrade her skills to Searer. It is VERY useful to have anotehr agent pumping battle spells into the enemies alongside you. Anyway, thats my personal opinion. I'm in one of those random towns in the beginning of Gull now. About to walk through a doorway, and let the serviles all go hostile and attack me! Fun, eh? - Archmagus Micael
  7. Alo, Correct me if I'm wrong (I probably am), but isn't a skeletal frame easier to be crushed by the pressure underwater than something like a tentacle? So therefore a non-skeletal frame creature wouldn't evolve something underwater which can help it get crushed. On why they wear clothes: Maybe it's to do with the ammount of children (I'm a teenager) that play these games. JV can't exactly portray your PCs walking around in the nude - it would give a bad example. - Archmagus Micael
  8. Dolphin: If you're on windows, try using Crimson Editor. I haven't had any problems like that with Crimson. It's actually really good with Avernumscript. - Archmagus Micael
  9. Good job. They can be hard to find if you don't know where you're looking. Am I the ONLY one who has a party of pure mage/priests/archers (each characetr is heavily trained in all three arts)? - Archmagus Micael

I've heard others had problems in this area. I think a lot of them were rushed out too quickly because everyone wanted them. It's also something to do with the ammount of dialogue nodes allowed. Personally I never use them though, cause it's not fun just steaming ahead of teh game. Getting killed is part of the fun! - Archmagus Micael I WILL TRY TO REFRAIN FROM POSTING HERE AGAIN> IT MAY START TO LOOK LIKE SPAM!

  12. Quote: Originally written by Ghaldrings_doom: No it doesn't. In the first part of teh game (the demo part), the gameplay is really great. Then about half way through the game it starts to get a bit boring and just annoying. At the end of teh game you're just begging to kill the enemy boss (or whatever you have to do) just to win and get it all over and done with. I remember I was really releived when Zachary told me I should travel back along that dusty path again! Anyway, that's just my personal observation. - Archmagus Micael

Well. I suppose. But I still prefer my idea, even if yours makes much more sense - Archmagus Micael
  15. EDIT: IGNORE THIS! - Archmagus Micael
  16. Okay. Thanks for all of your advice. I smashed Akronath aside after about 10 goes, so I should be able to survive a few giants. Thanks guys! I'll ask you for help when I need it again. MODS: Please lock this topic - Thanks! - Archmagus Micael

I'll be back in three weeks, and I'm hoping to see lots of replies on my question en the previous post (although I doubt that now I said this). Well, see you back in three weeks! Although i like america! Happy holiday! Anyway, I don't have my teleport call availiable at the moment, so I can't post it. Sorry. - Archmagus Micael
  18. Note that they always go back to those platforms of theirs after a few turns or so. They are CONSTANTLY recharging. Perhaps it heals them, like our spells do to us. Anyway, That's MY theory. They DO get affected, but tehy just constantly heal themselves using those recharge platform things. - Archmagus Micael
  19. ME (an agent), which casts acid spray (getting all golems at once), and that other spell, forgotten it's name now (the one which puts up health, blesses and hastes you etc). Then Alwan goes in and getts whallopped, while I just provide heavy artillery support. After killing that physco golem thing on Dhonal's Isle, (the one with over a 1000 hp), I think I can just about take on anything... - Archmagus Micael

I should be allowed to save where I'm saving (the normal save slots). Even when I autosave and quicksave the problem continues. -- Diarog Lethuta To clarify on what Jumpin' salmon said (since he wasn't as familiar with winXP: It is pretty much as simple as right-clicking on the Geneforge 3 Folder, and pressing on properties. Then press on the security tab, and check if it's set to "Full Control". If it isn't, try pressing the full control thing. If that doesn't work, there is a workaround that sometimes works (depends on how paranoid the system admin is). The workaround is: Press on advanced, and make sure that the "Inherit permissions from parents" button is de-selected (it defaults to being selected). De-Select it. Then it should ask wehter you would like to Copy the parents permissions, or Remove. Click Remove. Then just add your username, giving yourelf full control. - Archmagus Micael

This certain Topic is the same, but BoA is much more fleshed out in certain areas. This sin't one of them though. - Archmagus Micael

Last time i tried that, I nearly got butchered. Oh well, at least I know the secret passage out of that (INSERT NAME OF PLACE WHERE YOU CAN JOIN SCIMITAR GROUP HERE). Maybe my party can make it out alive... - Archmagus Micael

  25. Quote: Originally written by Thralni: Ok, I think the best thing for you, is just to download Avernum 1, and look in its folder, to find a complete map of Avernum. Its almost the same as Exile, so the map also will be almost the same. I'm afraid the other thing I wanted to suggest, Isn't there anymire. It was a great website, but I suspect that its down. There's a map of Avernum, yeah, but it doesn't has less than 1/4 of the IMPORTANT towns in it, let alone the unimportant. Half of the map is "UNKNOWN TERRITORY HERE", or "BARBARIAN SLITHS HERE"... - Archmagus Micael
