  1. Personally I find that even with the huge XP penalty, Divinely touched is a really helpful character trait. Anyway! Good luck! I just won A1, know A3 off by heart, and am playing A2, so email me if you need any help. - Archmagus Micael

Well, personally, I find that a "Soldier", a "Cleric", a "Mage", and a "Mage/Cleric/Archer" is the best combination. But that's just me. All of their types are custom (They aren't actually those above types, just have insane training in them), as I normally give each character at least 1 level in Priest skill, so they can heal themselves. But it's just how you like to play. You may want a singleton, or whatever. Most peopel who've polayed exile complain about the loss of two PC slots, but as I always played with 4 chars anyway... Good Luck! - Archmagus Micael

I couldn't find a way into that either when I played Avernum. Maybe that was "the secret dock" (or wahtever the statue said it oveheard). I for one would like an answer! - Archmagus Micael
  5. The problem with ALT + TAB is that it doesn't minimize the program, it just puts it "behind" the thing(s) you called up. And if the windows are different sizes... So if you're trying to hide things, the WIN key is probably better, but if you're just flipping through things, use ALT + TAB. Hope that helps! - Archmagus Micael

(or was this a1? or a different statue?) The password to talk to the statues is "Divulge", they won't tell you anything unless you say that. Thanks for all of your help! Once I'd gotten in and talked to Aydin, the rest all fell into place. And after I killed Hawthorne, I got these nice fancy 3 screens going over the three major quests I completed. So I've won Avernum! Now onto Avernum 2 for myself! One thing that really annoys me is that I can't tell Micah about: 1) The exit to the surface 2) I assasinated Hawthorne Go my party! Knights of Avernum! - Archmagus Micael

I assume that that's where that guy that Erika talked about (the traitor) lives, but I have NO way of getting there, and not many people seem inclined to help me. Ooh, I remember this one. If I recall correctly, there's a pool nearby that temporarily protects you from the field (if you get there quickly enough). Ah, is that the pool which enlightens you for a short ammount of time? Or one of those others which makes you "feel good"? Thanks. I'll try this out! - Archmagus Micael
  8. Is all of your essence gone? If it isn't Thuryl's probably right. If it has all gone, either you used up every last speck of it, or there is something wrong... Have you tried SHIFT + D, and then typing in "rechargeme"? This should recharge your essence to what you SHOULD have (after excluding variables such as creations etc.) Hope this make sense, and i'm not just repeating what's already been said. - Archmagus Micael

Thanks for the Avernum 2 help guys! (and I already knew that it wasn't a spell - I'm not THAT thick ) A1: * Talking to Khoth, he said that he made some magical defences for an Empire Tower to the southeast of him. I can't find that one... * To the Southeast of Khoth there is this tower called the Black Spire or something like that. HOW do I manage to get through that one? THat's the one that the gate controls zap you with lightning. * In the remote Islands, there is this tower protected on one side by a rune which kills you instantly (you stay trapped there forever, hypnotized by the field, your bodies wasting away until you die - that sort of thing), and a rock stopping you from entering by Boat. I assume that that's where that guy that Erika talked about (the traitor) lives, but I have NO way of getting there, and not many people seem inclined to help me. * AND FINALLY, OF A LESS IMPORTANT NOTE: In Sulfras' Tower, the demon says that as one of Erika's servants, I should know what to do with the statue. I went back and talked to Erika again, but I still don't know what to do with the statue. Perhaps I missed it? If so, what do I do? Thanks! - Archmagus Micael
  10. Hi, Sorry to bother you lot again, but I've got a few problems, and I'm pretty sure you can all help. A1: * I've killed Grah-Hoth (ouch!) and are now "Knights of Avernum". I've been told to randomly go around and do good deeds. I assume that includes assasinating the Emperor and stuff, and finding the way to the surface, so I'm fine there. * I've talked to Khoth and stuff, given him his scroll, and have been taught the ritual to enter that Empire Tower place - but WHERE is it? At first I thought he was talking about that tower just to the southeast along the river, the one with all of the Black Shades in it, with the Gate Wheel which zaps you with lightning, but since it didn't help me there, I don't know which tower he was talking about... and could use some guidance there. * Oh, and when I entered Bahshikava (wahtever it's spelled like), I thought that I was back playing BoA. And Legare wasn't quite so elusive here! A2: Well, I've started this Avernum 2 game with my friend, as I still haven't gotten round to playing it on my own, and we're ALREADY stuck! * In the quest that tells us to go and stop those Undead controlled by rogue nephils being made (the captain in formello gives you this one), we can't destroy the Altar. We have this random Ankh, and assume we need a ritual of Scantification. We managed to find someone called Alice in Formello who tells us about this, but we can't find it in any other library in the city. We did however find a tome which none of us could read, and were wondering if that might have been it, but we're playing a 3-player party (one of Matt's chars died cause was so bad, so we deleted him), with Arcane Lores of 4, 17 & 19, so I don't think we need more of that... HOW DO YOU FINISH THIS QUEST? Thanks you all of your patience! I'll get there eventually. - Archmagus Micael

  13. Or you could just try it without any creations. - Archmagus Micael

How many people 9even newbies), will set their time to the boards? - Archmagus Micael On topic: odd, but not as odd as some things I've seen here.
  15. Funny. Which creation pics did you change? Or did you change one of the scripts? - Archmagus Micael
  16. I met that bloke. I killed him for it, and for some reason the Guards didn't try killing me… Was that a bug… or was it intentional (me being a firm Shaper)? - Archmagus Micael
  17. We also say this (cause I say it often) to stress the fact to any other posters that this topic is now closed, and should be left to drift into the memories of time. - Archmagus Micael While I have just broken this reason: DO NOT POST HERE!
  18. Oh. Well, as I generally play an agent, I would have to agree that an eyebeast is easier to kill, though not much more so than the Gazer. - Archmagus Micael

There's no reason beyond game mechanics why they couldn't do it with someone else's corpse. Ha ha ha, I should rephrase that, but I won't. It amuses me. Maybe it's just me, bit I don't get the amusing part... - Archmagus Micael

  21. If you have them pumped up right, Eyebeasts can do 150-200 damage + stun chance to... (I counted at least 12 once) creatures at a time. Pumped up right, a Gazer can do 450-600 damage to a single target. - Archmagus Micael
  22. Well, when you've made your scenario, and i have some free time, I'll beta-test it. - Archmagus Micael
  23. The book also gives you a much better map of the game than the FAQs do. But on the other hand, that's just pure astethics. - Archmagus Micael
  24. I haven't registered Nethergate, but I've won through the demo on both sides before (only have the celts save still findable though now). I've got Avernum 1 full version, but I'd have to say I probably prefer Nethergate, but only because of teh two different view points (Celts and Romans). The one thing I hate about the romans though is their (understandable) absolute lack of spells. - Archmagus Micael
