nlambert has the full list of trainers and canisters in this index. Just look for "Create Drayk" and you'll get a list of trainers and whether they're faction specific or not.

ooohhhh... So I could Lie to Lying Zackary the Deceiver, brow beat that weak old man to allow me training, and then abandon them and join the Awakened.

I can't believe how giddy that ... deception... makes me feel. I will make sure that it will be a Drayk that kills Lying Zackary the Deceiver.

That said, and that great plan formulated:

It still leaves me in the conundrum of whether I should join the Awakened or it will make my life difficult in the Barzite and Taker camps.
But I WILL get Drayks that way. And I will feed Zackary to my drayk. I will have the Drayk kill him with a bite attack, or I will load and load and load till I manage to feed Lying Zackary the Deceiver to the Drayk he will help me learn how to Shape. I can't thank you enough for this, Mechalibur.

It is a Pity you can't go all Litalia / Monarch and start spamming rogues. I wish I could spam a dozen Drayks in Drypeaks Warren and release them to unleash hell as I ran. I.e. more or less what I will do to the Barzites with that switch.

But back to the other question: Will joining the Awakened make my life difficult with the Barzites and the Takers? I remember I had to kill practically every Taker till I reached Syros the first time around - and it didn't get much better after I did. Most of the Takers viewed me as an enemy.

Most are not faction related if you have the Mechanics and living tools to get through the locked door.

Everfrost Mine./Canister Factory  Essence Mastery canister is only available with the Sholai quest and must be taken during the quest or the door closes for good.

Emissary quest rewards only open when you successfully report that you captured an Infernal.

I have not fought the demon in the O-GF2, and I don't know if the Emissary quest is faction-specific. Should I be Barzite to give that report to this Emissary?

  3. If I don't want to join a faction yet, what is the fastest path to Drayks?

Alternatively, if I join the Awakened without setting foot anywhere else, will I be given quests from other factions? Will the Takers attack me if I don't go far?

I think as an Awakened, I am not allowed in the Radiant College.

Could I sabotage that horrible torture-submission machine of the Barzites if I am not a Barzite?

Which of these can I get without joining the factions and which are "quest-locked"?

  5. Helix Ring: 30% faster cooldowns... 3 turns still remain 3 turns or do they drop to 2 turn cooldown, meaning every other turn?

Does it give the bonuses in all things? Or do we choose where the augmentations go? I.e. does 1st augmentation gives Bmag+1, 30% less cooldown and +1 melee? Or we choose? And if we choose, how?

    Lindian

    - A Mighty Shield  - Perfect Glaahk scale, Black Crystal Powder, Purified Essence

    — All-Protector (+10% to evade attacks, +2 Evasion, +10% creations chance to evade)

    Learned Darrian

    - Darian’s Breastplate - Perfect Glaahk Scale. Claws of Infernal, cured Battle Gamma skin (Mutant Gamma Flesh) - Slayer’s Chestguard (+10% damage to self and creation damage)

    Learned Shath

Is it possible to have all those? I.e. are there two Glaahk Scales, 2 purified essences and 2 claws of infernal?

Are there items that give a big bonus to Shaping? Like +3 to Fire Shaping? Not that +1 is not good, but the items that give the +1 are meh otherwise.

  6. A wasted opportunity... Well, I will still go for that.  But that's because the Takers are horrible to other Serviles for not supporting unconditionally a world to the bitter end. I can always hope that at some point the Awakened will Wake up and work to take down the Shaper Empire and liberate the Serviles everywhere.

Or at the very least that they will build Shadow-Road like things to siphon suffering serviles to Drypeaks.

What you describe sounds a bit like Alwan's ending in GF5, where the Rogues are allowed to keep the Ashen Islands.

Mechalibur is right, I think. I want to fight Shapers, I want Shapers to stop being ... what they are. Honestly, Shanti had to go too. I liked her but it is not personal. She was an instrument of oppression, like the rest of them. Shanti would never allow the Serviles and Creations to be free and pursue power. I am 100% against the Barzhites murdering her for the laughs and giggles, but Shapers must die by the hundreds for the Serviles to be free and the Drayks and Drakons to have a chance to live. Wyx the Drayk said it best. He did everything well and the Shapers decided he had to die just because.

The Awakened never wanted to take down the Shaper Empire, they want peace too much for them to actually achieve it. And while they find justice for what was done to them in Sucia, they will never get justice for all the other Suffering Serviles.

The Awakened philosophy suits me less than the Taker philosophy, I see that now. BUT The Taker leadership suits me less than the Awakened.

If only the Takers were not THAT extreme... I want something like Blade - ?? that we meet in the path to Mehdab. The one that is suspicious of Shapers, opposes Shapers but doesn't automatically attacks me.

Did you read the comments at the beginning of the topic?  It's almost like I wrote it with you in mind 😉

"in the Awakened ending, they now explicitly conquer and absorb the resources of the other sects using the Barrier of Winds drakons offensively (!) (firmly putting to rest the argument that they wouldn't have the resources to stand up to the Shapers like the G3 Rebels did)."

Pinner wants to take over the valley but do they try to expand out of the Valley? When I said "defense" that's what I meant: Whether they take over the valley and other sects and then wait for the Shapers to consider them Commons OR whether they actually push outside, setting the Shapers on the back foot.

IIRC from the original, they crushed the other sects and... stalemate. Stayed in the valleys they could defend.

Read the ending topic if you think the Awakened don't know how to go on the offensive.

I did and... stalemate. Defense of the valley. Like the original ending from the sounds of it.

I have to finish it to see the actual wording. But from the synopsis it seems like the original stalemate for 20 years.

You can learn to create drays from both the Servants and Awakened. Servants have fewer quests and zones needed to get it.

    You are right.

The question should have been: Fastest way to a Drayk for someone wanting to join the Awakened (or the Takers). Not the Servants or the Barzites.

Canister use doesn't matter for the achievement. Just don't do anything like kill the leader of the faction you want to join.

Crap... so, I can't kill Pinner to free the Awakened from a pacifist, naive woman that is going to lead us to disaster?

Frankly, I may do that anyway. Even if it is not "the good ending". The problem is ... I like Pinner. She is a kind, gentle Servile. But not a war-time commander. We need 10 Pinners after we grab the Shapers by the throat, burn half their forts and dismantle their Empire.

It kind of sounds like you're not happy with the Awakened because they aren't acting like Takers? No, they aren't asking you to crack Shaper skulls because their goal isn't to crack Shaper skulls. If that's your ultimate goal then... yeah, you already know who you should join.

But the Awakened do back up their ideals with a plan this time around. They aren't just sitting around hoping for something to change.

The Barrier of the Winds or how it was called in the Original is defensive, unless Pinner didn't tell me the entire truth, which is completely possible.

The Takers... they are too extreme. I have walked around and talked to various awakened. Most are less pacificist than Pinner. There have been Awakened that talk about the great injustice done to them.

My problem with the Takers is that they are clearly and openly antagonistic to all the other serviles and not hiding it. They are so extreme that they band the Awakened along with the Servants.

Also, I do not want to eradicate all Shapers. I want to break their control and chokehold on Terrestia. There's a guy on Zackary's attic that plays with crystals and is from a culture the Shapers kinda eradicated. GF5 is full of such cultures.

I also want the Shapers to accept that Drakons, Drayks etc have a right to exist. And yes, I want them to treat Serviles like the Common. I do not want to wipe them out and I do not want the uncontrolled Shaping of the Takers.

BUT... I don't know if the Rebellion can win WITHOUT the fanaticism of the Takers or the extend they are willing to go to Take their Free...

And the Shapers should pay for the centuries of abuse and more specifically, the crimes they did in Sucia.

  12. The game is pushing me more towards the Takers...

Was Learned Pinner always so... pacifist and subservient? I have met other awakened (Blade Loyd for example) that understand what it will take to be free, to co-exist with Shapers.

When I go to Medhab I am blasted day in and day out from messages that inform me that my character is keenly aware that the Shaper council would destroy that peaceful town, where kids play, crops are raised and serviles barter with dignity to the ground for the crime of existing. Turn it to dust and eradicate any mention of it.

And what Learned Pinner tells my character? "You may carry news to your kind about us and they will come and purge us. So, I must convince you that we have a right to live."

    ?!?

Pinner thinks she has to convince an apprentice (well Shanti has declared I am not an apprentice anymore) of a town's right to exist. She is practically begging for their right to exist.

Somebody has to crack some Shaper heads and Pinner seems very reluctant to do so. I kinda remember she was hiding things and their true power, creating a weak, non-threatening front. I hope she does. Although a dozen Reaper turrets outside doesn't exactly send the message "We are at the mercy of the Shapers".

No, from what I recall from the previous time, Pinner was too... defensive. And that came down to the rest of the Awakened too. They were too defensive, too passive. You don't win a war by not losing the war. That leads to a stalemate. All the Shapers have to do, is to keep the rebellion secret from the Common and the Serviles at large and dedicate some of their forces to keep the awakened contained.

EDIT: "We can only gain peace by appealing to the mercy of the Shapers". Riiiiiight.

Even the text says that Pinner is naive; this is the result of growing up without meeting Shapers.

She goes out of her way to say that the Takers and the Barzites offer more power, but the Awakened is a fight for Justice. I agree. But what about Justice for the crimes the Shapers committed on the Serviles

Don't worry, Pinner. I will avenge your brothers and sisters that died in Sucia. THEN we can discuss with the Shapers.

I decided to join the Awakened, but I am not happy about the leadership, just so you know.

Tier Nope: Clawbugs (11/8 essence for LV 13, Survival 136, DPS 32 w/ Poison)
    - Only slightly cheaper than its upgraded version and much worse

I am trying there... I do. But no. I can't make these work yet at my essence level.

I just want a Cryoa and a clawbug! But it is really not working.

I was at level 6 and I couldn't spare the essence for very suboptimal creations.

I went to level 7 and I could make a clawbug or cryoa but:

Clawbug: My fire shaping is 7, my battle shaping with that special gear is 3. I have 3 levels for Fyoras, I have 1 level for clawbugs. It is not going to work.
The math says that the Steel Clawbug is better but... I cannot afford the essence and I would need to pump it with levels to put it at a respectable level 10.

Cryoa: That was the real surprise. Cryoa should be as good as Fyora, even if more expensive right? Right
Well, no. No haste. No spam-that-cone (I play on normal so Friendly fire is not an issue for me). In the end... I made another Fyora and with the extra essence that I would need to put the 2 upgrades (cone and resistance) to the Cryoa, I pumped up my Fyoras to level 12. A severe disappointment there. (Yes, I know I could have simply made a 5th fyora for the 16 essence I put to pump my 4 Fyoras to level 12).

It is crazy that the Cryoa is worse than the Fyora even if you do not account for the greater essence cost. Yes, it does a little more damage. But if you factor in the haste for the Fyoras, it doesn't. Yes, Cryoa's cone is a little better. But you use it once per 3 rounds, when 4 Fyoras will reliably get -5- cones out every turn.

Anyone can view the numbers on Steam, I was just kicking some discussion off.

Really? Oh, you mean from the achievements?

But it shows me different numbers.

    Pacifist is 0.3%

Gifts not needed 0.4% (I assume that's solo? No creation - but nothing about having others join you)

    Emerge a legend is 0.3%

Emerge a hero is 0.7% (So, 0.4% for just veteran)

Emerge victorious is 1.5% (so 0.8 for just normal)

  15. That I do find surprising. I honestly expected that people that have finished the game so early would be more veteran-difficulty types.

I am also stunned that 2.3% fell for Lying Zackary's the Deceiver's lies and aligned with the Servants. Even the change of the name from loyalists / Shapers to Servants, to bring the realization of what you are closer to home, didn't make it. I am honestly surprised. Frankly, I didn't expect the Servants to be neck-to-neck with the Awakened, although it is still early days...

When do you plan to update this list again, if you do? May I suggest an "update" to not delete the previous numbers so that we could compare the early-days with the longer-trends?
