Kyshakk Koan Txgangsta
Ok, so the stupid thing broke and all the imps came out and I have to kill them. Sad part, my characters are levels 9, 10, and 11, respectively. They get two hits per round, and can therefore kill any of my characters in one round by themselves. I cannot spam ouchouchouch fast enough to survive. I cannot daze. How do I beat these guys?
Hatchling Cockatrice Lilith
You don't. Run.
Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer
You could use some items to allow you to it twice a round. Also summon some expendable creatures to die instead of you. You do have to stay in the fight a certain number of rounds before escaping, since they just keep coming. If you have a save from before this area, you might want to use it and come back as higher levels since it just gets worse from here on to the end. Kyshakk Koan Txgangsta
All my saves are me in the area after the thing exploded. I don't even think that I could heal the Nickoli (sp?) fast enough to last past a few turns. I highly doubt he can die and the game just continue on and he show up again when necessary later. Also, where else am I supposed to go? I didn't go visit my messenger friend in the abandoned tannery. I have a host of left over quests, but in most of those quests, the little basic baddies can to 50+ damage in one shot, and there's generally not just one of them. I guess after this I can try and do all those again...
Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer
There's always autosave.
Well-Actually War Trall Harehunter
I believe the plot of the story indicates that there is no way to win back the Great Portal. Your only option is do as ordered and ensure the civilians get out safely, then get yourself out. Those who retreat from an unwinnable battle live to fight another day. Kyshakk Koan Skwish-E
I tried staying and fighting once, and the baddies never stopped coming as long as I was there. I finally quit without saving and went back in, only then noticing the text that told me to run away and abandon the portal to the beasties. Kyshakk Koan Txgangsta
Wait, so I'm supposed to imidiately run away? Do I need to stay and fight at all? Will vandrin and Nicholi/Nichodemus/whoever both die? Do they show up again later?
Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer
You have to stay for a few rounds, but if you are having that much trouble surviving, then use summoned monsters to avoid getting hit. There will be a message from Sgt. Nichol on when to leave.
Kyshakk Koan Txgangsta
I think I'm just going to move the difficulty to casual for this, and bump it back up immediately after. There is just no way to do this at my current level.
Kyshakk Koan Txgangsta
Oh wow, casual really is casual. That was much easier. Ima go do the other quests now so I can be on torment the whole time. Edit: Ok, wait. Now all enemies have less health. Their maximum health rose back up, but they have damage. Bug? Garrulous Glaahk Sade
This battle is a great time to use one of those Acid Shower scrolls.
Well-Actually War Trall Harehunter
Try as you might, there is just no way to win this one. The entire story plot is based on this portal being unusable until you complete your final quest. At that time the game is complete.
Ineffable Wingbolt Erebus the Black
I haven't played the game, so I don't know, but isn't this a good thing? Can't you come back here later and farm the imps?
Hatchling Cockatrice Lilith
You get locked out once you run away, and I'm not sure if they even give experience in the first place; enemies that respawn as part of an encounter generally don't. Understated Ur-Drakon Earth
I killed few of those which could been killed behind bars but no idea if those gave exp or not (and my oldest save is from trip to GP to retrieve some docs/something like that).
