Kyshakk Koan tridash
anyone interested in another contest some time? I could do with something to actually get me to make another scenario.
Magnificent Ornk Ephesos
...man, I wish someone had said something about a contest back when I still didn't have a job. I probably wouldn't be able to participate, at least not for quite some time.
Rotghroth Rhapsody Duck in a Top Hat
I'm up for a contest some time soon. How about a 24-Hour one? (Whatever happened with the last 24-Hour contest? Who won?)

Do it. I demand recognition. I would be up for a contest. I mean, I actually need to push Discord out the door first, but there's very little that actually needs doing - it's more finding the couple of hours it needs when I'm not too burnt out. Easygoing Eyebeast Enraged Slith
If we were to do another contest, would you all want it to be just a general thing or have a theme?
Well-Actually War Trall Acky
IMHO, the last themed contest never got a scenario published. The 24hr one got scenario's released, which is more important then anything, even if isn't finished (And going on its 1 year anniversary.) Kyshakk Koan tridash
Would a 24 hour or 1/10 contest work better? What sort of time would be best for people? (I'd prefer after about June 5th since I've got exams until then)
Kyshakk Koan tridash
Sorry for the bump, but any more thoughts on this?
Magnificent Ornk Ephesos
(is still way way way too busy to do a contest)
Magnificent Ornk nikki.
I fully endorse this idea, Still.
Kyshakk Koan tridash
ok, time for my weekly bump..how does this sound (might be a bit too generous?): dates: Saturday 5th - Saturday 19th what: 24hr contest rules: try to do the 24hrs in one go, if that's not possible, do it spread out over a period of 48hrs
Easygoing Eyebeast Enraged Slith
What's the fascination with 24hr contests? I'd like to see some larger and more creative scenarios.
Kyshakk Koan tridash
do you think a 1/10 contest would be better? personally I'd actually prefer making a larger scenario than a 24-hr one, but I'm not too sure what other people want...
Magnificent Ornk nikki.
Eh, having participated in both a 24hr contest and a 1/10, I think I prefer the 24hr ones, simply because I can sit down and get everything done in one or two sittings. On the other hand, bigger scenarios are probably what we need. I will enter either, I really don't mind - the scenario I have in mind could easily be fleshed out a bit.
Easygoing Eyebeast Enraged Slith
I could sit down and make a piece of junk in a couple of hours, or I could try to make something worth playing. Theoretically, you would do both in a 24hr scenario, but that's particularly difficult. I think we should go with something less stressful. It might be funny to attempt a sort of Mad-Lib design, where we draw certain themes and elements (setting, monsters, etc.) at random and must design a scenario that incorporates all of them. Easygoing Eyebeast Xaiya
Heh. I have an idea for a scenario, but I'm too lazy to do anything with it...
Magnificent Ornk Ephesos
Just fyi, I'm not going to be able to participate... pretty much no matter what.

Kyshakk Koan tridash
ES's idea sounds good to me - what sort of categories would we have to pick things from at random? How would we decide what the available choices were?
Easygoing Eyebeast Enraged Slith
There are quite a few ways we could do this, so I hope everyone has some input. The categories could range anywhere from fairly general to extremely specific. Some example categories could be: Setting, General Theme, Characters, MacGuffins As for available choices, that's for us to decide after we figure out which categories we want to use. Rotghroth Rhapsody Duck in a Top Hat
I feel pretty stupid asking this but... what's a 1/10 contest? I think I'd like a 24-Hour contest better though, because having such a short time-frame forces me to be more productive.
Magnificent Ornk Dikiyoba
Originally Posted By: Duck I feel pretty stupid asking this but... what's a 1/10 contest? Kyshakk Koan tridash
ok, I've finished exams now...would it be sensible to do an aim chat or something to sort out some of the details of the contest?
Easygoing Eyebeast Enraged Slith
If you think that would be necessary. We should probably get a general idea of how many people want to participate before deciding how to do this. For the record, I would want to participate.
Magnificent Ornk nikki.
I want to participate. Also, I think Tridash should take leadership over this - we all know what happens to contests where nobody is around to fulfil that role.
Rotghroth Rhapsody Duck in a Top Hat
I'll definitely be participating.
Kyshakk Koan tridash
It's probably a bad idea giving me leadership over the contest, but I'll give it a go Alright...anyone else interested in either judging or participating (obviously it's not binding...)? Personally I think ES's idea for the type of contest seems good, though with only four people showing much interest so far I don't know how well it would work. The other option seems to be a 24-hr contest. I think it might be worth doing a (hopefully fairly short) aim chat or something in order to sort the details out...when would be best for people? would be nice if people interested in judging would give some input into the contest as well (even if they won't be entering anything)
Easygoing Eyebeast Dantius
Originally Posted By: tridash Alright...anyone else interested in either judging[...] I'd like to judge. Rotghroth Rhapsody BJ Back From the Beyond
I might be interested. It depends on what kind of time limit is decided upon. If it's a 24 hour contest, then I most likely wont. In that case, I guess I could judge.
Easygoing Eyebeast Enraged Slith
We're a small enough group that qualifications don't really matter. I am wallowing in free time right now, so I have no restrictions regarding times for an AIM chat.
Magnificent Ornk nikki.
While I cannot say I am "wallowing", I can easily adjust my schedule to accommodate a chat. Lets get this thing moving forward.
Kyshakk Koan tridash
if it's not too short notice I can do pretty much any time this thursday/friday, if a later time is better I'm also free any time starting next tuesday..

Kyshakk Koan tridash
i didn't get too much of a response, so it's going to be on Friday 18 July at midnight GMT (so 1am Friday UK time, and sometime Thursday evening US time)

Kyshakk Koan tridash
just to remind people this is today (or maybe early tomorrow depending on your time zone), presumably it should take place in aim chat room "blades"?
Understated Ur-Drakon Celtic Minstrel
If I were interested in the contest, I'd suggest the IRC chatroom that I created... but I really don't have time for it, so meh. Still. It's still there if anyone feels like showing up for any other reason.
