Kyshakk Koan Firecage
It is kinda wierd how the lay out of Avernum changed its course from 1 to 6....You can check it out yourself if you want. Even using the maps given to us by the games and playing it. Like the river at Almaria looks different in A6 than in A1. The caves and tunnels where Mortrax once lived is much larger in A1 than in A2. in A1 theres a much larger space east of the abyss and spire tower and west of the eastern gallary than in A6. Even cities like Dharman and Blosk seems alot farther from eachother in A1 than in A6. And in A1 a certain Fort Duvno doesnt seem to be as close to the tunnel to formello as in A6. It is strange how the world of Avernum changed through time.

Magnificent Ornk Dikiyoba
Avernum changes size so radically because A1-3 have outdoors while A4-6 do not. Dikiyoba.
Kyshakk Koan Firecage
The only thing I wish is that if Jeff remakes A1-A3 with a new engine, that he gives it a larger outdoors area.....that is all. Over and out.
Rotghroth Rhapsody waterplant
I second that. I would love to play through this story I have heard so much about (Emperor Hawthorn, Erika and all that) but don't enjoy the earlier engine. Garrulous Glaahk Barzhal
I don't favor any more avernum remakes. A1-3 are already remade. Now I admit, Jeff's games are great for replay value, but common, wouldn't you rather play a new and fresh game from Jeff? I favor new game development rather than playing A1-3 yet a third time around just to get a new engine and maybe another dungeon or two. Hatchling Cockatrice Alorael at Large
Fear not! A1-3 will be remade at some point if Jeff is still in business in a few years. Fear not, naysayers! It will be a few years, and there will be new and nifty things before the remake. —Alorael, who does find it funny that even between A1 and A2 or A4 and A6 there seems to be inexplicably thorough urban renewal. And wilderness renewal, too. Maybe the cave worms are big on exterior decorating?
Kyshakk Koan Firecage
Yah, thats just like them caveworms.....bleh....just one question. I still wonder how an entire cave system got severely shortened and changed. (Talking bout area bewteen the abyss/spire tower and the eastern gallary.) Hatchling Cockatrice Randomizer
Jeff switched from having towns on separate maps so he no longer had huge distances between them. It was too much work to fill up the spaces.
Kyshakk Koan Firecage
Ah. Now I understand.....still a pity though...
Easygoing Eyebeast Triumph
That's part of what I liked about Geneforge's zones/overworld map. While not as good as the old Avernum way of giving a sense of large spaces, the Geneforge map still helps me to feel like I'm exploring a big place, with individual zones representing just one spot in the area. The feeling of "smallness," is one of the most disappointing qualities of the later Avernum games.
