  1. When it will be done? Well, it hasn't even been started yet. But it'll possibly happen about a year after BoA is released for Windows.
  2. The Avernum engine lets monsters regenerate as well, but it's easier to fight them off.
  3. When the game starts up, in the lower right hand corner, the version number of the game is mentioned. The highest version for windows is currently 1.0.1 and for mac it is 1.0.2. If you have a lower number, then you can update, although it isn't really necessary.

  5. Wow, that must be a really old computer, if Exile can't even work properly on it. Are you sure all the system requirements are met for that game? If it does, are you able to end the game from the task manager? EDIT: Argh! Forgot to capitalize!
  6. When you start the game up, go to the preferences option and select the button under the resolution option that says "Ask Me at Startup" or something like that. Then quit, and start the game up again. If it shows you that option, click on the "Don't change resolution" option and see if that affects the game somehow. If not, then click on the "Change Resolution" button. If neither work, then, well, let's just hope it works.
  7. Get a Unix then, for all I care. The problem might be with the RAM, how much do you have on it? If it's too low, then there might be some problems when your computer tries to save your RAM into Virtual Memory. That may explain the hang of your entire computer. Also, see if you can access your task manager when your system starts hanging and see if one of your programs caused an access violation in the system (usually in kernell.dll). Other than that, I wouldn't really know what caused the problem.
  8. The restricted account might as well be the problem, and quite possibly, SpyBot will have the same effect.
  9. http://www.ppedv.com/us/tools.asp Tool site. http://www.ppedv.de/dwnld/kill.zip Kill.exe Hope that'll help somewhat. Put it in your WinNT directory and have a shortcut to it on your desktop so you can get to it quickly. If Win2000 doesn't have a WinNT directory, then it goes somewhere else...and I don't know where that somewhere else is. I'll go check it out.
  10. Okay, I found some articles on the Microsoft support site. You might need to get the latest service pack from the Microsoft Website. If you do have it, and are still experiencing the problem, one of your programs made an access violation. Rebooting the computer is one of the only ways out. You won't be able to end the task without the tool kill.exe which is on the Microsoft Website. Here are all the articles I found pertaining to the problem: I don't get it. Every time I post the link without the URL tag, I get...the URL tag! Bah! Okay, it might be messed up, but it'll get you there, cuz I don't know of any other way to post it on these boards... http://support.microsoft.com/search/default.aspx?InCC_hdn=true&Catalog=LCID%3D1033%26CDID%3DEN-US-KB%26PRODLISTSRC%3DON&withinResults=&QuerySource=gASr_Query&Product=msall&Que ryc=service.exe&Query=service.exe&KeywordType=ALL&maxResults=25&Titles=false&numDays=&InCC=on
  11. Um, you're pretty much stuck, I guess. I have had the same problem a couple of times, but it went away after a while. Are you still using ICQ? If yes, uninstalling it might help. Then if you need an IM to replace ICQ, use Integrity messenger, since it adapts with all famous IM's. If you already uninstalled it, the problem might go away on it's own. Or it might not. Sorry I can't help more. Well, actually, I'll check up on the Microsoft Website for this problem. I will post later if I find anything.
  12. I am not fond of giving creations "names." It would be saying that I actually care about them, which is exactly the opposite of what I'm really trying to do. So no, I don't name my creations.
  13. Apollyon, enough already.
  14. This question has been asked many times. There is really no way of playing it in a window. It was made to be played full screen, no window.
  15. The scripts in the Data folder.
  16. Why would you? Only if you want the town hostile towards you...
  17. Your geneforge save files should work with any version of geneforge, so yes.
  18. Unless you transfer your old save files, no. They are located in your Geneforge\Data\Save(0 - 15) folders.
  19. You can move the whole Geneforge file over, if you don't want to download the whole thing over again. I'm not sure which file makes the game registered though. Possibly the geneforge.exe or the irunin.dat although the second one has your preferences stored in it (as well as irun.ini). You could also ask Jeff for a new code if something doesn't work out. He is usually very generous with those things.
  20. If you are using IE, you will need to download a japanese plugin from Microsoft. Windows XP, as I said before, supports all languages in the IE browser. WIN98 does not. When you start up IE, go to the TOOLS menu bar. Click on Windows Update. Let it scan your computer and then click on the Windows 98 additional updates link. Add the japanese plugin to your list and download the updates. Also, if you enter a site that the browser cant identify the font of, a window should pop up saying that you need to download a language plugin from Microsoft... Anyways, it has been a long day, and I too will be heading to sleep. What shall my dreams be this time...? I want to be a CIA agent...yes, I shall dream about being a CIA agent and saving the world from ...uh...MICROSOFT! Yes, the evil company devised a bug to stop the entire world's rotation and I shall be the one who slays the head of Bill Gates...blood and gore...icky...and then I shall wake up and wish that the experience had been real. Wow, out of all the things I write on the boards, the wierdest ones I come up with are right before I go to sleep. Now while I'm on a spree, what else shall I talk about? Oh...wait, I'm veerry slleepy and i cant see anything anymore and zzzzzzzzzzzz... Anyways, I've ranted on a little to long, sorry about that. Oh yes, good night, sleep tight...and let your dreams come true....goood night...sleeep tight, may your dreams come true...Adios, something something, wonderful day... GOOD NIGHT!
  21. Put them into your font folder. Start-Settings-Control Panel-Fonts
  22. Well, for the fonts, I found that there was more than one font that could have been used. It's wierd, but japanese seems to have about three languages, or subsets of languages. Anyways, I found a site that gives some fonts, I'll update the list as I go. Fonts And I don't know about the firewall thing. Someone else can help you on that. EDIT: Eh,...to tired too look anymore...if you want to, just search for it on google, japanese fonts.
  23. From the experience I had from the japaneese language, no. And having win98 is the reason the text is being diplayed so funny. Your current OS does not have the "born" ability to display those fonts. You will need to install them manually, which is fairly easy. Finding the fonts though, is another question...
  24. Yes, it could be Japaneese, but since you might not have the right font to display the text, it's displayed like that. As for the Greek thing, I'm not sure... Also, I know that if you're using Windows XP, those fonts should come up normally, either that or only when you type stuff...anyways, I hope that helps.
  25. Possibly, if you put your Win98 disc in and reboot your computer, it might give you an option to start the computer with the disc support. Say yes to that option. Also, if you have created a boot disc (floppy) for Win2k, that might give you that option as well when you are loading your computer. From there, it should start up and load into MS-DOS automatically. Then you should be able to format the HD.
