Exile 3, Windows, Crashing at Character Creation

Exile 3, Windows, Crashing at Character Creation
Reality Corp. replied to Aora's topic in Tech Support
Quote: Originally written by Aora: Has anyone else experienced a similar problem, or have any idea what might be causing it? I'm running Windows ME. You have answered your own question. Windows ME is a poor excuse for an operating system...so much so that more people would much rather have Windows 95/98 to be running on their computer. When I had Win ME on my computer, not only did most of the SW games not work, but mostly all other games that I had as well as some simple programs refused to work or froze up. If you can switch to a different operating system...do so. If you can't, try restarting your computer and running Exile again. -
Even if you are banned, you can still login and read posts, just not reply or start topics. It was probably something amiss with the server/scripting process.

Have you tried using an HTTP download instead of an FTP? For example, Exile 1 - http://spidweb.com/ftp/win/exile20.exe Exile 2 - http://spidweb.com/ftp/win/exl2v201.exe Exile 3 - http://spidweb.com/ftp/win/exl3v10.exe

I thought you would have known that there is a button in Draylark's office than opens up a pit in his bedroom. That pit will drop you into the tunnel after you defeat the Gargoyle Beast and get a fiery ring from him.

Yeah, you can activate the portal using the Xian portable batterry and head through it to Fort Emergence. Then you can actually go and harass Anaxaminder without upsetting the town or activating any auto kill nodes. Sweet revenge...

A few links that might be handy: If on a Windows system and having the .zip extension for the file, go here: http://winzip.com For Macs and .sit files, go here: http://www.aladdinsystems.com

Skribbane in A3?
Reality Corp. replied to Nicothodes's topic in Avernum Trilogy (2000-2002 original versions)
No, I don't think it's in the demo. It's sold mainly in the city of Gale which is in the NE part of Valorim, but you can still find bits and pieces of Skribbane around in that area without buying it from a designated seller. -
Aiyee! Must turn off music! That and javascript is almost highly overused. Site content seems original, though but still needs some work (the monster page was empty). Oh yeah, the pop-ups...gotta love 'em.

Test of Patience
Reality Corp. replied to mana_prysm's topic in Avernum Trilogy (2000-2002 original versions)
Two common problems with the test that people experience: 1. Never pull the wheel/lever. If you do, then leave the puzzle and enter again to reset it. 2. Once you get to the upper part and place the block on the rune, you have to push it back through a secret wall to get it back to the bottom rune. Otherwise the puzzle should be fairly easy to solve though it might take a while to get used to controlling the block's movement. -
In a way, yes it would be cracking the game. In the other sense, it's the authors fault for making it publicly available...on his own site. Take it as you will, but I'm just pointing out the obvious again.

Let's just not put this out in the open where everyone can see it.

Edit: Forget I said anything. And ben is a wierdo. But I'm sure you all knew that by now. In any case, this topic is dead and anyone who happens to stumble upon shall see whatever it is that is here. For those people, go away, there's nothing to see. So what shall I write here? Well, perhaps....anything? Yeah, that's what I'll write, anything!! MWAHAHA. Er.. Hey, why not, I shall do this with any old topic I posted in! See if you can find all of them! Maybe, just maybe, you will and then you'll feel like you have a sense of security for once in your life, followed along with a sense of accomplishment! Who knows, maybe you'll even become the next president of the US! (But I sure as heck won't vote for you). I'll continue my message elsewhere... Edit: Special note - two posts below was the one and only post to ever be edited by a moderator/admin (in this case, both) because of discussion of cracks and warez, even though it really wasn't, and for the fact that IT WASNT! But I can still see why it was edited, not really, but kinda. Not everyone is stupid after all...

Try blades of exile graphics - they're compatible with E3 and there are a lot of them out there. Some good sites are listed in the BoE forum header.

I must have missed the rest of that level, I haven't done all the pt. 2 sidequests yet (because I refuse to use the editor to refuel my party in the Kuntalass hideout.) Anyway, you've got to just leave that for the moment, and eventually, in another town, you'll find a book on demon summoning. The point of this quest is to summon the demon and kill it. I believe the book tells you that a huge pentagram is needed. Finding one shouldn't be to hard…(BTW, I haven't actually done this quest yet.) I think you need the wand of freezing to get past the pools, and you'll receive that in Volton's new dungeon complex. I never figured out how to get past the big pool of water later on in that level because the wand didn't work there. Now that I think about it, how was I supposed to get past the big pool?
-
Well it could be that new prison that Volton built, but I don't think it would be in there. Well there's one thing I know for certain...it's somewhere.

Quote: what place of learning has neither books nor teachers and has something that flies from a pole? If the Magestica Prison isn't the answer to that question...then what clue gives it to be there? I know I picked something up in that place. To DB, it does sound a lot like the Magestica prison, since it is 'learning,' doesn't have any sort of entertainment, and has electricity that shocks you from a pole if you try to get out.
-
1. I'll check up on this one as I don't quite remember where I went to get to it. EDIT: Have you tried the Magestica prison? A bit higher than the temple below and a bit to the north. 2. The golden unicorn in the hunting grounds is part of a special group...you have to activate the node for it to appear. Otherwise, I believe there are plenty other golden unicorns in the game roaming around somewhere... 3. No viagra in the game. You can get "vigara" though if you talk to the right people. Read the spoiler below if you want to know how. *spoiler* Some people will refuse to talk to you for some reasons...like one of the people in the sailor town (forgot it's name). Ask him about the black market and you should know what to do from there.

I believe you need to move the .dat file from the registered game to the unregistered one. If that won't work, try moving the .exe. It's small enough to transfer on a floppy, I think, so it should work.

You need to use 10 canisters before your skin starts to glow and you get a different ending. Being modified on the special machines counts as one canister. I'm not sure if the Infiltrator items are in the demo but they do exist somewhere. Sorry I can't be of more use there. The Xian Living tool is located under a concealed doorway under Gramplin's bedroom rug. You need to ask Sherry about how to disarm the trap first before going there, or you're going to be smelling the Xian Poison.
