Crossbows appear in A2, A3, and BoA, and possibly in A1, although I dont remember them, but its been a long time since I last played it. They're not very common though, and you probably wont see many untill later in the games, if at all.

You do know that at close range, a longbow can penetrate plate, right? So even at close range, if he should somehow get up the tower to you, you can still kill him pretty easily.

I would say more history behind the various races (goblins, sliths, nephils, ect), as well dragons who do not swap genders constantly. Seriously, I just think of most of them as "it" simply due to confusion on the gender. Hopefully this remake will clarify on this.
