1. It really depends on your play style which one is better. I would say for now go with the Rotghroth, although Drayks are useful with their fairly nice fire damage. Later on, if you are using canisters, try to get the Rotdhizon.
2. In the Testing Halls in Whitespire. Talk to Master Phipps.
3. What is your current level? If you have enough leadership (6, I believe) you can get rid of the Servile warriors and if you have even more (about 9 or so) you can avoid it entirely.
4. In asynchronous communication such as this, people do not always see the post that gets made a minute before they make their post. In my case, when I hit reply, the original did not yet exist.
5. Code: To get italic text do, italic text.To get boldface text do, boldface text. Again, these should be for emphasis and not abuse. Never should a whole response be bold or italicized.
6. Once again, please avoid ALL CAPS. I will add that investing more skill points in Healing Craft does make this more effective meaning less casting required.
7. While I haven't taken the Rebel path yet, but I've gathered Ghaldring turns into another boring version of Bob.
8. If it is the same as other games, submission is stun and reapers are mega-damage.
9. Hi, You need to finish the quest for Alwan (in the Storm Plains) to get the message from Ghaldring and then head south. It is a city called Zephyr Oasis. Also, please do not use ALL CAPS in text. This is considered shouting in the online environment and we try to encourage a friendly environment here. Thanks!
10. Hi, This is one of the board admins. Let me first say that we value your participation; however, we do insist that you follow a few rules to keep these forums present for everyone. Here are a few guidelines to help you: 1) Most importantly, be respectful of other members. Please ask for help, but realize that other members are not all knowledgeable and have a limited time to respond. So please be patient in waiting for a response. 2) Double posting (in other words, posting twice in a row in the same topic in a short period of time, say a day) is not allowed. Please use the edit feature instead. This keeps the threads looking clean and easy to read. 3) If you have questions and comments about moderation, please contact that moderator privately via the private messaging feature. If it is not resolved at that level, feel free to contact me privately. Note that I am posting this publicly as a service to help out you and other new members as well. If you follow all of these, things will go well. Thank you for your cooperation!
11. That and it sounds like you were only partially shaped by the other geneforge. Using this one merely completes the job.
12. We are starting to veer off topic. Please keep this thread to discussion of the game itself. Thanks!
13. It is possible that it would be Barzahl. While his outward creations were not that powerful they were high in numbers. He did shape Titan and a few other nasty things that only someone really powerful could make. Of course, all of this is speculation as there are other possibilities as well.
14. There is a cheating way to take the items by giving them to a character that gets killed off. At which point, you may as well use the cheat codes or modify scripts anyway.
15. If you have a good idea, you should look into the Blades games which could let you put them into practice if they are not horribly different than the main engine. While BoE has an older interface, there are ports ongoing to modern architectures and it is not too hard to figure out. By all means, feel free to discuss your ideas here. The people here, while being a little too opinionated at times, will help you refine them.
16. You are of course welcome to do so, but I sincerely doubt that he will respond or pay any attention. Jeff once came by several years back and explained it. I will paraphrase: Jeff gets messages all the time about "great" ideas for plot lines and requests that he makes a game out of it. The problem is that coming up with ideas is the fun 1% of developing a good game, the other 99% is in the implementation. What you are essentially saying to him is this: "Hey, let me make you a deal. I'll do the fun 1% of the work and you do the other frustrating 99%."
17. If memory serves, you should approach the machine and try to destroy it by hand first. If I were to redo this sequence, I would have taken out this detour.
18. I would suggest the following: * Lower essence costs for battle creations, up HP and defense from all damage types relative to non-battle creations. * Make intelligence actually mean something to non-battle creations higher than Fryoas. A 2 intelligence Wingbolt might only get off two shots before being exhausted. This forces players to invest more here for non-battle creations. * Quick action and stun for battle alphas, and poison effects for clawbugs, and perhaps a paralysis like effect for war tralls.
19. Most likely cuts were made in the graphics department.
20. The main thing I would like to see changed is a refinement of buff. Things such as bless and shielding would be a far longer lasting effect with a corresponding higher SP cost much like augmentation and steel skin are now. This would force the player to be more judicious about which buffs to apply to whom. Negative status effects would fade with time. In this vein, the negative status effects should not cancel out the positive ones. It would be fully consistent to have a character both blessed and cursed. The net effect should either be zero or slightly with benefit for the negative effect since it fades faster with time. Also, haste is too unbalancing. The chief problem is spell casters being able to double up on things. If the cost for using a spell action were raised to 12-14 AP, I think this would restore a lot of the unbalancing nature of haste and make a hasted warrior that much more valuable.
21. Another thing to try is this, type shift-D and type: sdf 97 2 1
22. Quote: Originally written by Clavicle: But the Darkside Loyalists only want the power for themselves. They want to rule the Empire themselves. What do I care about their egos? And what's in it for me to further their aim, except maybe some end-game scenario in which I get a share of their spoils. Not my reading of it. They believe that their nation has the right to rule the world and all its domains. They feel they are the only ones striving to keep their nation whole. There may be some in it just for the greed, but the movement itself (Dorikas and his high level men) is in it because of patriotism, nationalism, a firm belief that the world is better under the Empire when its power was absolute. To them, Prazac is a traitor, an appeaser to the Empire's enemies. Try to put yourself in their hyper-nationalistic frame of mind to better understand them.
