  1. I second what Randomizer said, make sure you're inventory slots are basically empty and you have lots of weight left. I would think that the Orb of Thralni would be in the Castle, but maybe they brought it up to Upper Avernum for the first surface party?

Just checked with an old save game of A5 and no, it's not there. There are just some twisty passages that have piles of rocks in them, so much that the passage is blocked and you can't proceed further.
  3. On a side note, you mentioned you didn't have a walkthrough? Here's the forum topic regarding the G5 walkthrough: http://www.ironycentral.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=148156
  4. I think he's hinting at the plot, as in the end of Avernum. But as to how it happens I haven't a clue.
  5. You can't go to Camp Samuels in A5, it starts in the formerly giant controlled lands that were right beside the Abyss. In fact one of the main towns there is called New Harston (remember in A2 that Harston was one of the Empire Towns your adventurers could visit?) Than you go up to the Northern Islands (where Aimee lived in A2) and after that section it's all new territory. Oddly enough, while looking at the Avernum Annotated Maps I saw that Pyrog's lair was in that area in A1. I don't remember seeing it in A5, but I'll have to check. That would have been a cool addition if it's not there.
  6. Yeah it mysteriously moved from one side of the river to the other in between A2 and A4. I think because Almaria is closed when you first get there, Jeff needed another town for the adventurers to go to. Or maybe he just forgot where he had left it previously. You can't really say which is right and which is wrong, because the same guy did both games.

The game engine will be much the same. Character Creation won’t change much. If it did, it wouldn’t be Avernum. I’d get a lot of angry E-mails. Much of the work for Avernum 6 has gone into the graphics engine. It will be the nicest looking Avernum game by far. And, of course the story. Avernum 6 has a really cool and detailed story. About the end of Avernum. I got the relevant part about Avernum 6, here's the rest of the Interview done by RPG Codex: http://www.rpgcodex.net/content.php?id=187
  8. Except that G5 and Avernum 5 both go into the My Documents folder if you have a Windows XP computer (or the Documents folder under your user name if you have Vista). G5 saved game folders are found in a folder called Spiderweb Software > Geneforge 5, where Avernum 5 is in a folder called Avernum 5.
  9. I had the same issue, in fact I made a topic about this last March. Here is the link to the other post, someone helped me with a SDF code I think. http://www.ironycentral.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=96900
  10. Jeff will probably go with the more acceptable ending, i.e. being a good little Empire Soldier (adventurer) and killing Dorikas. I think the fact that you can join both sides is more for replayability value.
  11. Oh I didn't mean they'd infiltrate by sneaking in (though it did sound like that, sorry). Why would they have to sneak in when Avernum has opened up the Country to them? Think of the enterprising merchants who have travelled down to make a living in Avernum. Only maybe some merchants will have weapons stored in their cellar, and they'll have secret meetings with other fake merchants. They'd infiltrate by going in under cover, and then when the time is right, they'd jump out with their friends and massacre an entire town.
  12. The only time I use bows and arrows are for ranged combat, like when an enemy is across a cliff or up on a ledge. Remember the Moving Elevator when going to find Dorikas? When all the enemies appeared and started shooting at you? Arrows came in handy then! I make sure all my characters have some time of throwing weapon. Bows, Crossbows or Vahnatai Razordisks usually. I don't use Javelins or Slingshots.
  13. I got the sense when playing Avernum 5 that Redmark is not a nice man. He wants power and he's ruthless. I'm sure he'll figure in the next Avernum game, the only question is how? Maybe it'll be a sneaky takeover, like an infiltration, instead of a full-scale assault.
  14. I think with General Redmark as Emperor, Avernum and the Empire would never be one happy family. I think the Empire is going to try to take over Avernum again (remember, General Redmark has Dorikas' old fortress at the end of A5). With that, he could coordinate an assault and take over the A5 map area. Then a battle would wage centered on the abyss and the Spire Fortress (the only way into the main part of Avernum?). It would be nice to have a choice to play as either Empire solders or Avernite adventurers. Remember, the Empire wouldn't want Avernum to be part of them again, they're too different. Plus Avernum is a lot more free with knowlege and magic use than the Empire is. For Avernum to join the Empire, they'd have to follow a lot of rules and regulations and give up a lot of freedom, which I think they wouldn't be happy with.
  15. I don't mind not having the arrows, it saves me from having to pick them up all the time. Just think of it as the arrows load automatically when you fire the bow. In Avernum 4 I stored my items in the portal room of Fort Avernum, and in Avernum 5 I used the portal room in the Static Fields. Since I use the teleporters all the time and they're at all major towns and usually close to the last boss fight, it makes it easy to find your items later on. I always bought Hawke's Manse in Avernum 3 as well to store my items. I think I also stored them in Fort Emergence in my storage room.
  16. I think if you didn't get the quest before you killed the scuttler's then the items don't drop. I hope I'm wrong, but I think you have to set a stuff done flag by scripting to get the quest reward.
  17. Does this walkthrough help you? http://faqs.ign.com/articles/377/377228p1.html Goblin Pits is about a quarter down the page. Or just push CTRL+F and search for Goblin Pits.
  18. That's what I thought, but then Earth's post confused me. So it's fairly easy to back up all your saved Spiderweb games then given as the default location is the My Documents folder. Isn't Nethergate Resurrection or Avernum 4 in the game folder though?
  19. I thought it was very weird that you couldn't talk to General Redmark at the end of the game, when you found Dorikas' fortress. In fact, I thought I had done something wrong or I was missing something, because I just thought it was weird that you couldn't talk to your commanding officer at all during the latter part of the game. And I had also killed Celia so I had no one to report to at all.
  20. I know when I was playing Avernum 1-3, I would change the default location to the My Documents folder. That way you can access them fast and you know where they are.
  21. For the newer games, you can find them in your My Documents folder under Spiderweb Software or the name of the game itself. I believe the older games are found in the My Documents folder as well. I forget where the default save location is for Avernum 1-3. If you can't find them do a search for avernum or geneforge and it will tell you where all the folders are.
  22. I always buy the CD and the hintbooks for Spiderweb Software games, because you never know when you'll be without the internet. Who knows, the hintbook could be your only source of information one day!
  23. If someone needed help to find Anemona, they would post in the forum. Why would they email you instead?
  24. Do you mean the game speed? I think you can slow down the game speed by one of the options in the Control Panel.
  25. I think what I did was just save a lot of conversations and then I would delete them after the quest was complete.
