  1. This may seem like a stupid question, but have you read Jeff Vogel's post about G5 speed problems? http://www.ironycentral.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=156082#Post156082 Maybe there are some tips in there which can help you. I have an Acer desktop computer as well, with almost the same specs as yours, except my graphics card is nVidia Geforce G100 and I have an Intel Core 2 Dual processor. All the Spiderweb Software games work great on my computer, I don't know what the issue is with yours, sorry.
  2. I picked E3 because that was the first Spiderweb Software game I played, it got me hooked in other words. Tried to play E1 and E2 fairly recently, but the nostalgia factor wasn't there and I didn't like the 2D.
  3. I thought their home was under Lost Bassivikha (spelled that wrong for sure). Lost Bassivikha was where we found a big door, that was locked and there was a voice when you touched it that said the Sliths weren't allowed back until they were all peaceable.
  4. Well, it's not free, but yes you can buy the full version of Exile 2. Just go to the Spiderweb Software's Online store: http://www.spiderwebsoftware.com/mm5/mer...ode=Older_Games Why would Jeff release a game without finishing it first? Oh, and if you want a free game, the Blades of Exile has been opensourced and is available for free. http://www.spiderwebsoftware.com/blades/opensource.html
  5. Sometimes I have the same names, for example in A3 and BoA my party is named Jack, Teal'C, Samantha and Daniel (from Stargate SG-1) but for A1 I had an all girl party named Buffy, Faith, Willow and Cordelia (from Buffy the Vampire Slayer). But my parties names can totally change depending on what I'm reading or watching at the moment. For example, I'm reading David Edding's Belgariad and Mallorean series now, so my next party could totally be named after characters in those books. Actually, that's a great idea! Darn, I totally want to go play A2 right now instead of being at work.
  6. Very nice screenshots, me and my brother were almost drooling on the screen yesterday when I saw them. Obviously the canonical ending for A5 is the one where you play a good guy, duh. Which means fighting against the main villains of the game, the Darkside Loyalists. We've never seen the Slith's home before, we've only met the ones who got barred from their lands for being violent. It would be interesting to see where they come from at last!
  7. I discovered Spiderweb Software by finding a demo of Exile 3 on a shareware collection of games called Game Empire Volume 3. Became addicted and bought the game, but didn't discover the other games until about five years later when I finally got internet access. Played through all the Avernum games and now I'm going through the Geneforge ones.
  8. Screenshots were promised to us in May to be posted in June, but I guess Jeff hasn't been able to update yet. I am looking forward to seeing them, it's very exciting.
  9. Is the name of the file "avernum.sav"? also, is it in the default location that Avernum saves the game? sorry, I can't think of anything else. Maybe if you started a new game, and saved with the default name and location, then moved your old saved game to that location?
  10. Why don't you reinstall Avernum again and see whether that fixes the problem?
  11. I wonder what actions in game would enable the sixth option to come up? Very funny!

  14. I found my 'avernum3.dat' file in the Data folder in the A3 folder under Program Files. Maybe that's where it is for you as well. I think your game becomes unregistered when you do that, so if you have the game on CD you can just reinstall again. If not, I think you have to email Spiderweb.

  16. Ah, that's what I was thinking of, thanks Alorael!
  17. Can't you get more than one bag of sugar? Maybe I'm thinking of something else though.... Besides it's better to sell it, because if you fulfill the quest then doesn't it effect your reputation?
  18. The folders have to be set up the same way they were previously. Also, when you moved them from the old computer, did you enable yourself to see hidden files? Maybe there's one you didn't move.
  19. Sss-Chah, the CD doesn't automatically install it for me on Vista, that was the only problem I had. First make sure you're logged in as an admin, and then open up the CD and run the install files manually. Also, after the game has installed, right click on each shortcut, go to Properties and then the Compatibility mode, and make sure you check off each to run in Compatibility mode with Windows XP.
  20. So is it "Gene-forge" like two syllables, or is it "genie-forge" which is 3 syllables? Gene-forge does make a kind of sense, but I still prefer "jenna-forge"....it just sounds better.
  21. After a quick search on google for those keywords, I believe you should try running the CD while you're logged in as an administrator.
  22. Good videos! I noticed he pronounced it "genie-forge", I always pronounce it "Gene-forge" (like the beginning of Genesis). I wonder which way is right?
  23. Try these two threads: http://www.ironycentral.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=109672 http://www.ironycentral.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=168094
  24. I had an Intel Celeron chip and 1 GB of RAM and I was able to play Geneforge 5 on my XP computer. Oh, but I also had a Nvidia GeForce 6600 Graphics card, so that probably helped it work. Maybe upgrade your graphics card as well. I did it myself and it was super easy.
